I know it’s blummin early but if I don’t start now I’ll run into the busyness and then I’ll be upset that EVERYTHING IS A MESS BlushAngrySad

So in an effort to avoid that I’m hoping someone might join me. In addition to just cleaning a bit (lot) I’d like to

Empty small under stairs cupboard and put board games in there

Empty small airing cupboard which is rammed with stuff I don’t use them I can get towels and sheets we do use in there

I have a drawer with festive/craft bits in that’s a disgrace too and doesn’t make me feel warm and festive

I am not an organised person so really want to try. So what are your goals for festive fung shui?

I feel like I'm slowing down a bit, but got rid of some huge things like the kids buggy. Selling for cheap but it does get things out the door! The house feels so much better already.

Can I join? I have discarded about 8 or 9 bin bags so far (mostly donated toys and clothes). Kids rooms are looking pretty good and have cleared cupboard space in our room for Christmas presents. Main thing to tackle now is the kitchen...

I did the airing cupboard Grin
The kitchen drawers of doom are next

Don't know if it will help for years gone by but might for the future. I use a lever arch file for memory boxes. One a year (or two if a busy year) and put all special things in it - birthday cards, tickets from events, wedding invitations, kids drawings/work etc. End of every year have a sort out and then put away - always there to look through but no cause for worry. Am 61 now and still do this.

I love that idea @Roystonv, we have “memory” type things in so many places and I’ve never really got a system in place

Conveniently, my works main server has been down and out this week so I've had no work to do and DS has been at nursery/grandparents as usual... So I've been blitzing the house, stripping back general "stuff" ready to start decorating in 4 weeks time!
Also been ploughing on with the Christmas shopping, all with the utter joy of Netflix shockingly bad Christmas films keeping me company!
Next on the list -wardrobes. There's stuff lurking in there that I haven't actually seen since we moved in three years ago and it's clogging up my presents hiding spaces!

I've been around the house reordering things. So everything thats the same type of thing is in the same place and similar things are in the same room. I've got rid of a lot doing that already.

I've been sorting the paperwork this week, throwing out anything over 5 years old or no longer relevant. Thats another shedload gone.

I've cleared out DS's clothes. His toys are next on my hit list.

The bedding has been done. There's a bunch of sheets and duvet covers that are never going to get used again.

I've done the cupboard of doom (present cupboard). And found a bunch of stuff I'd forgotten about, and can now use this year which is a bonus.

I've done the craft drawers. Got rid of a load of stuff that's not going to get used, and put it somewhere more accessable so it will actually get found and used rather than DH buying yet more of the same item.

Still got memory boxes to do and rest of the paperwork, but I need now binders for that.

Its getting there. Still a couple more weeks to go I think...

I've just discovered Vinted, so the pile of selling things is finally going down.
