ideas for almost 6 year old dd please

pinklemonade84 · 12/08/2021 20:41

dd has never really had specific interests and we're struggling for ideas for this year for her

so far we're thinking
adjustable roller skates and safety gear
Hot wheels track and Mario cars
Ukulele (dh is going to hate me for this one)

but, I was wondering, what was popular with your girls of a similar age last year please? she already has a decent scooter and bike, so those are on the back burner until she needs the next size up

Thanks in advance xx

Gel pens
Squishys

Scout2016 · 12/08/2021 21:21

Mine is that age now and likes Sylvanian Families and doing pretending with us and her toys / dolls. Eg. Lots of play cafe, school, getting the medical kit out and rescues with her transformer that turns into a (very noisy) truck. Also board games, construction things like magnets, marble run /lego and drawing, baking, scooting and playing with her ball.

We are also thinking rollar skates for Christmas.

Scout2016 · 12/08/2021 21:25

I am going to ask her for ideas too, because she has lots of relatives who will be asking us for ideas.

pinklemonade84 · 12/08/2021 21:36

We tried asking her earlier and got "I don't know...is it Christmas tomorrow?" with a hopeful look on her face 😂

Thank you so much for the ideas so far

overtherainbo · 13/08/2021 06:05

Mine is into LOLs, baby dolls with all accessories, crayola, teddies, polly pocket, Lego and dress ups with accessories

StarDrawers · 13/08/2021 06:13

More ideas:

Sparkle Science (needs adult to help really)
A balancing penguin game
Book token (she loved choosing her books)
Fit Bit (her mum got her it, we weren't keen but she loves it)
Lip balm
Lush Bath Bombs

doodlejump1980 · 13/08/2021 07:34

Hama beads
Really soft blanket
Anything crafty / Lego

StarDrawers · 13/08/2021 07:38

Oh! And we got new duvet cover set.

Scout2016 · 13/08/2021 07:49

I have found it harder since lockdown as we haven't been going to places or visiting friends so she's not been playing with other people's toys to get ideas. I second the Galt kits, reversible sequins and Usborne sticker books. Mine especially loves the dress up doll ones.

pinklemonade84 · 13/08/2021 09:04

ohhhh, you're all amazing, thank you so so so much for all of these ideas. There's so many that I just hadn't even contemplated. She's going to love some of these ❤️

Binoculars and a kid-friendly book about birds.

Walkie talkies.

Kid-friendly camera.

Big box Lego Classic (not themed).

Skipping rope, hula hoop, diablo, juggling balls, balance beam etc.

One of those mermaid blankets you can slip your legs into (or shark, or whatever).

Funky stuff for the bolike - bell, basket, light up things for wheels etc.

elQuintoConyo · 13/08/2021 09:20
  • bike, don't know what a 'bolike' is Grin
Tablow · 13/08/2021 09:37

Board games - junior monopoly, cluedo etc.

I wouldn't go anything themed if you're buying early. My dd6 has flitted this year between lol dolls, Pokémon, trolls etc and the thing she liked 6 weeks ago is now 'embarrassing'

Wetcappuccino · 13/08/2021 09:38

Creatable World dolls
Boardgames (junior Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo)
Comic subscription (Okido, The Phoenix)

MrsPumpkinSeed · 13/08/2021 09:39

Smyths have a lovely plug in 'Rainbow'
Think it's called Make a rainbow.

Bean bag for her room / fairy lights

MrsPumpkinSeed · 13/08/2021 09:42

I might get one for ds.

ideas for almost 6 year old dd please
Anon778833 · 13/08/2021 09:45

Our Generation Dolls - they have an amazing range of accessories too. Really lovely and well thought out.

My now 12 year old dd liked LOL Surprise Dolls when she was this age - not sure if they're still popular?

Big cuddly toy

One of those styling head dolls

Anon778833 · 13/08/2021 09:46

Oh also Smiggle Stationary.

MargosKaftan · 13/08/2021 10:09

Can you get her to have a few playdates at friends houses (if you offer to have their kids soon, you might get return invites!) and ask what she played with at theirs? Did they have any cool toys to put on her Christmas list? Let her watch TV with ads around November time as well...

StarDrawers · 13/08/2021 10:18

@Itsnotover

Oh also Smiggle Stationary.
Haha yes pretty much anything smiggle goes down well here!

The beanbag a PP suggested is also a great idea if you want to get a "big" present.

languagelover96 · 13/08/2021 11:08

Some more ideas

Cake making kits (you can search Sainsburys to find some)
Toys
Games
Books
Art and craft supplies
A new camera etc
Hula hoop
