A few people have asked me how they should thank the person who sent them something - can I suggest you post on here? Namechange if you want to remain anonymous, and remember that your donor won't know your MN name anyway - so maybe give some clues (ie "thank you for the lego and the chocolate")

a HUGE thank you to my parcel senders, I have had a really dreadful week, ending with 24hours in hospital with ds2. We are home now, and he is on the mend, steroids and inhaler helping.

We arrived home to 2 cards through the door, one to say there was a parcel in the shed, and one to say DHL had tried to deliver.

In the shed was my parcel from 'Issy', a very generous gift from ELC for ds1 (although I suspect that ds2 may get beaten round the head with the inflatable dinosaurs )

Then on Saturday morning the postman arrived (thankfully not the usual one, I live in a very small village!) to find me dressed in sick-covered joggers, hurridly putting on a top after feeding ds2 , and looked at me quizically as he asked "this'll be for you then will it, mumsnetter ". So now he thinks I'm some complete weirdo. still, he wasn't cute so never mind . And the parcel was more than worth it, a lovely gift for me, gorgeous tigger soft toy that I have totally fallen in love with, some much needed chocolate, and a fab money box that will go under the tree for ds2 as ds1 says he isn't allowed to use one of his 5 . And a christmas card, which broke me and I burst into tears!

And I still have the DHL parcel to look forward to!

And do you know, it has even made me feel christmassey , so for the first time, ds1 will get to help mummy put up the christmas decorations that never usually leave the loft

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, a group of complete strangers have managed to restore what my mother completely destroyed for me over several years, and what exp had managed to destroy for this year, all by some random acts of kindness and generosity

and now i'm crying again so I'm gonna retreat back to trying to get ds2 to stop squirming enough to take his inhaler (they really didn't design them to be used by lone parents!)

Nameanonssecretsantaithink · 09/12/2007 22:02

Nameanon - if the woolies vouchers came with some books and chocs then you're very welcome (if not, then I've got the wrong sendee !). Happy Christmas !

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 09:52

SSSB, no they don't...been waiting forever for them to be in some kind of offer so they are cheaper! Saw my dad y'day and he gave me some money for my b'day(end of november but hey ho!) and bought these for the boys, so your stockings will be sat on charlie/Lolas knee for them to open in their beds xmas morning (minus the chocolate as i am making a trail to the tree withthe coins )

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 09:54

Why is this not a sticky anymore?

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 10/12/2007 10:09

DH told me they were too scary and we weren't allowed them

Think it isn't sticky because it is thank yous

MellowChristmasEveryone · 10/12/2007 10:15

Oh I was just wondering the same. I like it at the top!

I think my gift I have sent has been lost.

Any idea how long a 1st Class takes to be delivered ? perhaps I should start a thread.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 10/12/2007 10:17

Post is a nightmare atm - I am still waiting on a parcel that was posted to me on Monday

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 10:20

Mello, DP posted some things he had sold on ebay y'day and PO said first class was taking up to 4 days but could be longer depending on where it as going/who the final courier would be(sometime Royal Mail pass on to smaller companies apparently ) and how heavy and big it was. When did you post it?

MellowChristmasEveryone · 10/12/2007 10:21

Oh perhaps mine will still be delivered then. I shall just have to keep checking in here. [fmsile]

Thing is I end up here for ages....

MellowChristmasEveryone · 10/12/2007 10:24

I posted it first class last Wednesday. Hmmm

I wonder if everyone does say thank you?

I think I will wait until later this week then try to look into it.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 10/12/2007 10:33

Tis bloody rude if people don't say thank you really. All it takes is a name change (if you don't want to be known) and a quick "thanks for the x, y, z"

sophiewd · 10/12/2007 10:42

My first class card took a week to arrive, I too got worried but has now been recieved and thanks given privately.

MNerWithSmallHandedHelper · 10/12/2007 10:44

Paddlechick666

You are very welcome . I hope you can spend some of them on yourself!

Happy Christmas to you and your dd.

alsoanalias · 10/12/2007 10:53

Mellow - I'm worrying that mine has got lost too. Posted first class on tuesday I think it was.

Has anyone recieved some older boy's stuff? Books and an aeroplane? [worried] Sorry I haven't sent off the batteries yet, we've all been ill all week, but I will asap.

sparklygothkat · 10/12/2007 11:32

Thank you Secret Santa and her elves... Irecieved a parcel today in a big red box, with some clothes for Callum and what I believe is a bag with a cake in it (haven't opened it yet) I have to ask if that was everything as it looks like the box has been opened. The two white tabs on the side were ripped and its been stuck down with double sided tape.

smeeinachristmastreeinnit · 10/12/2007 11:36

ready twas a pleasure!
hope you like!
merry xmas to you and your hubby.

sparklygothkat · 10/12/2007 11:36

oh there is some choccie coins in there too.

quintessentiallythanks · 10/12/2007 12:06

Thank you so much to the D family, the big box arrived this morning!

My youngest was jumping with joy and excitement as I opened it and he saw all the books, and when he saw the Benetton coat he exclaimed "That for me?". He was very pleased to see the bubblesoaps as he loves bubbles, and he made sure that there was one for him and one for brother.
We are going to have so much fun with new stories at bedtime now, they both loves books so much.
Thank you so much for your kindness and the lovely card.

Veryverythankful · 10/12/2007 12:27

Thanks so much for your generosity Loujay, far more than I was expecting, the ELC vouchers will make a massive difference

TheMincePiedMadHouse · 10/12/2007 12:49

I want to thank the secret santa's that have sent to me and my family.

The P family from London - I am ever so grateful - how you could have known that DS1 was heavily into puzzels. He will enjot the quite time with the Pat Jizsaw and for the bath toys and cars for DS2 - some cars all of his own, he will have real fun with them. Also thankyop for the package for me. I will wrap up the boys gifts from their mumsnetters and we will all open them on Christmas day.

Many Thanks to C for the Marks and Spencers voucher. I am going to buy Christmas eve PG's for the boys with it.

I found Mumsnet this year after a particularly bad time for me, admitting I had PND and also discovering that my family carries a serious cancer gene and I wanted to say a big thankyou, not only for the material gifts, but for the joy of online friends, of help and response when you need it anytime night or day and to the FLY Ladies for the motivation to get my bum in gear and get the house clean and more imporatantly the everyday support they bring.

Thank You

AThankfulMom · 10/12/2007 12:59

Merrydaisy, I think your other parcel arrived this morning from Amazon, DS1 will love the top trump cards
Thank you so much

WhenScoobyGotStuckUpTheChimney · 10/12/2007 13:03

I have a parcel waiting for me at the post depo, have not got it today but i am off to pick it up tomorrow, i am sure it is from mumsnet as the card posted through the door has the name left off

I would wait those of you who have missing parcels as it may well be they have not been picked up yet

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 13:07

Oh crikey.. oh my goodness me....

I am all of a dither

I had absolutely no ideamy family had been or would be nominated. And I didn't really have much of a clue how I was going to do the rest of the Christmas shopping and had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that the kids weren't going to have an awful lot this year. (They know this too!)

And then I got an envelope to The Mumsnetter of the House this morning!! And I knew that could only mean one thing because I sent a parcel with that on myself!!!!

It was a sizeable voucher!! Anow how I can get all the things I need... thank you thank you thank you MRS GLTH.. I have no idea who you are, and I don't know how to express how very grateful DH and I are.

[sob]

And thank you. Again.

And thank you so much to the Mumnsetter who nominated me. You have sort of saved Chrsitmas a little bit in the Shiny house...

People who are concerned about whether is lost - you can go to www.royalmail.com and if you have a ref number (say if is recorded delivery or similar) it will tell you if has been delivered.
