£20 challenge with DH

FieryGlassSlipper · 06/11/2007 12:33

Money is a bit tight this year so DH and I have set a challenge of £20 each for presents to each other. I want something interesting and perhaps a bit quirky. He is a techie and into games but also likes history/nature.

Come on then, inspire me

my hubby is a store manager at maplin, and is so chuffed with some of the xmas things they have just got in, and the xmas promo has just started so lots are half price!!! he is also a bit of a techie (if not already guessed from working in an electrical components shop!!)....have copied and pasted a few links for some good girts below:

mini digital desktop photoframe

didital photo keyring

another digital photo keyring

and none of them even fill your budget!! so you'd have change to buy him a nature book or something!!!

3Ddonut · 06/11/2007 12:50

Thanks for those links, we're going to get the MIL one of those keyrings and they're cheaper than where I saw them!

glaskham · 06/11/2007 12:53

glad i helped you save some more £££'s!!! haha

FlameFromBonfire · 06/11/2007 12:54

Oooh I love those!!! Will be getting one for my friend, one for my mum, and one for DH

glaskham · 06/11/2007 12:57

oh the hubby will be proud of me!! free advertising for him!! haha!! we are getting one for my dad, the FIL and the step-FIL....all techie guys!! even considering getting myself one too so i can show off all the pics of my kids!!!

FieryGlassSlipper · 06/11/2007 13:22

Just reading the hamper thread in this topic and that had some good ideas... why not do him a personalised hamper (you can buy a box/basket for just a couple of £)

then fill it with all of his favourite things, sweets, chocolate, wine, beer, cheese, etc etc - whatever you know he likes and whatever you can get for £20.
(if you make some home made things such as cookies you'll be able to do even more)

or sepnd £10 on perhaps one of those keyrings or a book or something you know he'll love, and the other £10 on the hamper...

FieryGlassSlipper · 06/11/2007 14:44

That's a good idea. I guess it would look like more, wouldn't it.

glaskham · 06/11/2007 18:08

leggylil, put your web address inside a and a and it makes a link....if you want it to say a word or something instead of the web address then leave a space after the link and type what you want it to say before the ]]

pointydog · 06/11/2007 19:18

use tesco vouchers to fund or part fund a subscription to History mag.

Freckle · 06/11/2007 19:21

DH and I always have a "under a tenner" challenge each year. I won last year by getting him an almost new stereo system from Freecycle! He was thrilled with the stereo but miffed that there was no way he could beat me in the challenge.

I also got him some cordless headphones with my Nectar points. Another one to me! Be interesting to see what he comes up with this year.

FieryGlassSlipper · 06/11/2007 19:43

Thanks leggylil. I will take a look.

Freckle - that's impressive.
