Box Games - what are your favourites? and what is rubbish?

Mine are 8 and 6 and love Monopoly Junior, Scrabble Junior.

They also have Scooby Doo Cyber Chase game which is pretty rubbish and Thomas Round the Rails which is also rubbish!

Going to get Cluedo for them this year. They are just at the right age for sitting round the table and playing games without fighting (mostly!).

DD is 5yo and loves Scrabble Junior, Monopoly Junior and Cludeo Junior. She enjoys playing Uno too.

Not a board game but she also likes Hullabaloo, and we are planning on getting her High School Musical Twister.

Mine like scrabble, DS1 can play the older version, but DS2 who is 7 still likes the junior version. We got cluedo last year for DS1, he likes it, although one of us has to help DS2.

They also have Don't Wake Dad and Guess Who, which are both favourites in our house, even DH and I don't mind playing them. They also like Snakes and Laddders and Scooby Doo escape the phonatom

Then there is
Screwball Scramble
Fit the Bit
Grabbing Gorillas
Pop Up pirates
Buckaroo
which they are not so keen on

BBBee · 04/11/2007 14:06

like:

ker-plink

not like:
rumble in the jungle
twister (me who doesn;t like it)
cranium (too old ATM)

they are 7 and 5.

I am 33.

Cranium games are great- hullabaloo, cadoo, conga,Bumparena, balloon lagoon.
Also love guess who, monopoly, connect 4,headache, tumbling monkeys. We have so many i can't remember them all!

Younger two (3 and 4) like Elefun,pop up pirate,Dora adventure game,Hullabaloo

Operation isn't played much. They find it too hard.

LIZS · 04/11/2007 14:17

9 and 6 current favourites are Cranium Cadoo, Monopoly, Great Game of Britain and Risk (Narnia version better to start with , dd cries when she gets destroyed in the regular version). Also regularly play various Orchard games, Rush Hour, Operation and activity type games like Fishing game, Twister and Don't Buzz the Wire.

Ravensburger Labyrinth is good - several editions available if you can find them, including a Disney themed one. Also traditional Ludo, Snakes and Ladders etc a good standby for all ages.

Cod, it is a great game, it and shopping list. I got brownie points for them on my Childminding inspectionas they said they were educational toys!. DS2 still likes playing it, but DS1 says its "babyish"

keepyourpuppydaviesindoors · 04/11/2007 15:05

shopping list game only for real tinies imo but pop to the shops is fab. grandma always gets in trouble for not asking politely enough for things.
