Which boardgames were a hit and for what ages?

I bought Santa's Rooftop Scramble after seeing it recommended on here and got it out a week before Christmas and my kids aged 5, 7 and 9 loved it and we have played it loads. I may put it away to get out again next christmas, but wondered what other boardgames have been a hit this year and for what ages?

12 and 14 year old here and they liked chameleon and telestrations. 14 year old not a fan of board games but she liked these.

Mine three are teens 13-19. They've spent a lot of time playing either poker or Arkham Horror.

I put on my headphones and watch Netflix. Grin

This is great thank you - will look out for all these in charity shops once they all reopen as that is my favourite place to buy board games

Rapidough. After a few drinks, absolutely bloody hilarious.

Queuing4Fergs · 31/12/2020 23:30

Throw Throw Burrito has been a real hit with DS11 and DS7 though it hasn't yet been played without tears - which quickly dry up when I threaten to pack it up.

We played Ticket To Ride today which DH, DS11 and I enjoyed but needs a few plays to get into. Annoyingly DH won overwhelmingly so I will need to rectify that at the earliest opportunity!

DansMaPoche · 31/12/2020 23:32

Must just add though, re: Rapido, it involves uncontrollable laughter at other people's ludicrous efforts so perhaps not suited to mixed age groups with children who might take it too heart when ribbed by older siblings. We played all adults and it was a blast.

My dc age 9, 12 and 14 really enjoyed Zombie Kidz Evolution.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 31/12/2020 23:53

Sleeping Queens card game
Bugs in the kitchen
Scotland yard
Ticket to ride
Pass the pigs
Pie face is still a hit here, we resurrect it every now and then for a laugh, wouldn't play it often though, would lose its appeal

Genius square has been thoroughly enjoyed, it’s like non electronic Tetris. The 3 yr old has loved Tummy Ache by orchard toys

BeaLola · 01/01/2021 12:15

@30not13

5 second rule. It entertained a group from 7 to 67 with some small adjustments for littlest of increasing the time and picking suitable cards
Has gone down well here - DS13 abc myself and DH - DH is rubbish at it ! I bought it for £10.99 on Amazon and it has been played with everyday.

We don't usuallly play board games - 3 isn't the best number when only one is a child. Have really enjoyed playing itSmile

My DC are late teens, we have had considerable success with what I am going to call Targeted Triv - a normal Trivial Pursuit board plus your choice of questions.

We now have Friends, Harry Potter (two sets), football (some of those are easy, some v hard) and Rick and Morty (bit niche but that's the point).

Played last night for about 90 mins 😀

SushiGo · 01/01/2021 12:24

We love Funny Bunny in this house. We've been playing it nightly since October.

Mandolorian monopoly and Life junior have been huge hits with my 5 and 7 year olds.

NellyTimes · 01/01/2021 12:37

The Taskmaster boardgame with my 12 and 11 year olds was an absolute triumph.

Boom253 · 01/01/2021 12:37

Cobra paw has been a big hit here

Exhaustotron · 01/01/2021 12:38

Catan is the best board game ever.

Played with 9 & 4.5 yo, the small one needed some help, but won the first game.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/01/2021 13:19

Orchard toys shopping list was a big hit with my 4 year old

Ahhh we LOVED shopping list - also Pop to the Shops :D
NecklessMumster · 01/01/2021 14:52

Another vote for Telestrations, made my 19 year old laugh. Simple and quick. Codename was boring. We all enjoyed Azul (adults and older teens)

Lotsachocolateplease · 01/01/2021 14:57

Herd mentality was a hit with all of us! From age 13-73 - younger kids can play it too.

LikeSilver · 01/01/2021 15:06

DS is 5 and DD 8.

Pokemon Battle Academy (DS is obsessed)
P is for Pizza
Uno
Cluedo
Dobble
Poo Bingo (🤦‍♂️)

InTheLongGrass · 01/01/2021 15:29

9 and 11 here.
Labrynth and Rumikub are old favourites.
Catan and Hive have been successful this year.

I cant abide exploding kittens. Everyone else seems to rave about it. I wonder what I'm missing?
