I tend to make a ginger cake and some streusel-topped mince pies as I like the crunch!

Always mince pies and gingerbread house. Usually some kind of cupcake and tiffin.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 22/12/2020 23:50

Trifle but with no sponge! Hate soggy sponge! Also sticky toffee pudding and much gingerbread. We’re not Christmas cake, mince pie or Christmas pudding people.

Christmas Tiffin, mince pie pin wheels with rough puff, some kind of pudding, this year Nigella's chestnut chocolate pots because I have less energy and inclination and am feeding far fewer people

BrunoMars · 22/12/2020 23:57

Almond macaroons!

Deereamer · 23/12/2020 06:45

Bread and butter pudding made with either panettone or vanilla brioche. Takes 5 mins to make and it’s delicious. We have it on Christmas Eve.

Ihatesandwiches · 23/12/2020 08:42

Do you have a recipe for a Christmas tiffin, please @57KarlKennedysDurianFruit?

DrMadelineXMASwell · 23/12/2020 20:38

I fancy making some tiffin this year.

Can't abide trifle, sadly. Not only do I hate soggy sponge, I also hate cold custard.

That trifle look amazing! What are all the layers?

MirandaMarple · 23/12/2020 20:52

My mother in law's mince pies. Shop bought mice meat but pastry made with lard, stork and self raising flour.

Homemade Baileys...from my mother in law, too.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 23/12/2020 20:56

Savoury sausage rolls.

Sausage meat with chopped onions, mixed herbs, oregano, tomato puree, salt and pepper, Worcester sauce, soy sauce. For the filling.

Ready made puff pastry.

Baked and eaten hot on Christmas Eve lunch. Eaten cold at any other time.

juneybean · 23/12/2020 20:58

A sausage plait and a cheese & onion plait in memory of my auntie.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 23/12/2020 20:58

Shop bought mice meat

Cats love this too !

Grin I normally don't bake at Christmas, because we are rarely at home. This year with just the 4 of us, I've made mince pies and am making a white chocolate gingerbread yule log sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, because only two of us like Christmas pudding.
MirandaMarple · 23/12/2020 21:14

Mice meat. Good job I have dogs 🥴

goose1964 · 23/12/2020 22:44

Mince pies, today I tried gingerbread(the biscuits) topped ones. They'll be added next year. Stollen but it only gets eaten between Christmas and New Year's Day so I'll do it on Saturday and the cake which is a bit avant garde this year.

Falalalalafel · 23/12/2020 22:46

Nothing this year! Didn’t have the motivation. Usually I make a Caribbean black cake (Christmas cake), mince pies, Yule log and sausage rolls.

APurpleSquirrel · 23/12/2020 22:52

Today I made Cinnamon Swirl Mince Pies (but they didn't work quite right, stuck to the tin despite it being both non-stick & buttered!) & Christmas Cookie Bars. Also decorated our Gingerbread House.
Usually make sausage rolls - plain, harissa & onion marmalade, but they've been done & in the freezer for a while so just need to defrost & bake on Boxing Day.
Also often make Mint Aero Rocky Road, but decided on the Cookie Bars instead.
DD wants to make Sopaipillas & Pebre too - so we'll do that on Boxing Day morning.

Gluten, nut and nutmeg free lebkuchen for allergy ridden dh and dm. This year I have also made gluten free Yule log and gluten and selective nut free florentines

didireallysaythat · 23/12/2020 22:58

Biscotti. It's not Xmas without them.

TheySeeHerRowling · 23/12/2020 22:58

Sausage rolls, mince pies and a Christmas cake

DrMadelineXMASwell · 23/12/2020 23:10

Haven't made a sausage plait in YEARS!

I've not made Christmas cake in over 5 years either, as it was Dad's favourite and always made him one for Christmas so haven't had the heart to bake one since he died. People here eat it, but only because it's there, so I've bought a small bar one this year.

Chocolate mint shortbread
Brownies
Cheescake
Mince pies
Kolaczki

andadietcoke · 23/12/2020 23:13

Nigella's sticky gingerbread and her Christmas morning muffins. We normally have a party on Christmas Eve and send everyone home with them. They're being delivered this year instead.

Sgtmajormummy · 23/12/2020 23:13

Nigella’s mandarin and almond cake in the week after Christmas. It’s like a really easy, springy, moist marmalade cake. I just blast the mandarins in the microwave.

Pre-prepared baked lasagne as the hot centerpiece of the Boxing Day leftovers buffet. Not happening this year.

I saw Jamie Oliver making a leftover Christmas dessert strudel (crumbling spicy mince pies, pudding, posh biscuits and grated apple onto filo pastry) on YouTube. Ice cream to serve. I might do that this year.

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 23/12/2020 23:15

Christmas cake
Chocolate orange cake
Tablet
Peppermint bark

Oh and pork with black pudding sausage rolls for supper Christmas Eve.
