I tend to make a ginger cake and some streusel-topped mince pies as I like the crunch!

Dundee cake

SingToTheSky · 23/12/2020 23:42

That trifle tunnock 😍😱 wow!

I am new to baking this year so I don’t have any traditions yet. None of us like mince pies really but we might try some stained glass biscuits to put out for Father Christmas

Natsel84 · 23/12/2020 23:48

Apple and cranberry stuffing.

Juanbablo · 24/12/2020 05:46

Red velvet cookies. So easy. You need a box cake mix, an egg and some oil and that's it. The kids love making them and rolling them in sugar. They look very festive.

Delia Smith's pistachio and parmesan sables, in normal years Christmas cake, rocky road.

We are a Christmas trifle house, too.

I also dislike waterlogged sponge, but find a trifle lacks substance with no sponge at all, so I always move the sponge to the custard layer. I wait until the jelly has set, and then put sliced swiss roll on top, then pour on cold custard and put it straight in the fridge so it sets. It's so much nicer - the cake stays like cake, rather than turning to mush.

I made my jelly yesterday so that's one of my jobs for today.

I’ve made mince pies, shortbread, jam tarts, meringues, sausage rolls, gingerbread and cheese straws since Saturday! Going to make some cookies today and some more shortbread, plus a sticky toffee pudding for tomorrow. We got put into tier four at the weekend and I deliberately didn’t order any cakes/biscuits etc to give me something to do!

@Deereamer

Bread and butter pudding made with either panettone or vanilla brioche. Takes 5 mins to make and it’s delicious. We have it on Christmas Eve.
Oooh! This is our tradition too! DH and I have a helping for supper then have the rest for breakfast on Christmas morning

Welsh cakes. Then when they're still warm, we'll take some over for the lovely gentleman who lives over the road. It's out Christmas tradition. We've made him a fudge Christmas pudding too. It's not assembled yet, So could go horribly wrong and drippy!

bellagogosdead · 24/12/2020 11:18

Yule log
Sausage rolls for boxing day, these are non-negotiable
I used to bake loads more when the dc were little and I worked part time.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 24/12/2020 11:33

I've not made Christmas cake in over 5 years either, as it was Dad's favourite and always made him one for Christmas so haven't had the heart to bake one since he died. People here eat it, but only because it's there, so I've bought a small bar one this year.

Sorry about this. I felt sad reading this as my Dad died earlier this year. This is my first Christmas without either of my parents. Which is poignant however....

Let's crack on with the eating and drinking etc ooh, yes lots of etc.

Blimey...and how !

Remember to stay hydrated with drinks of your choice.

My sherry trifle is the stuff of legend. Classically made, which might not suit everybody.

However, I've made the Hairy Bikers raspberry and peach trifle a couple of times and it is to die for. So I'll be making that this year for pudding on Christmas Eve/Day.

Ladybird345 · 24/12/2020 11:45

Mince pies, lemon tarts and buns (all this afternoon)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/12/2020 12:18

Mince pies. Gazillions of them, since resident 🐷🐷 devour them.
And Christmas pudding, if that counts as baking.

Nothing else, no Christmas cake - hardly anyone used to eat it. Except the birds, who certainly seemed to enjoy it. Now feeling a bit bad - should I have made a small one specially for them? 🤔

Pieceofpurplesky · 24/12/2020 12:38

Not bake but an Oreo cheesecake is always requested.

I always make fudge.

And on NYE I make a tropical trifle with mango, pineapple and Malibu!

DrMadelineXMASwell · 24/12/2020 13:38

We are still off to my sisters for christmas pm and she has requested my no bake baileys cheesecake. Whatever doesn't fit I'm the tin I make for her will go in a loaf ton for an cheesecake bar for us for boxing day. Very rich.
