Have they all been delivered yet? I posted 2 last Saturday and only one's arrived and I'm starting to get twitchy. I know there's a massive strain on the postal service, but I thought I'd posted with plenty of time to spare. 😥

I posted three parcels two week ago, second class. One arrived next day, one arrived yesterday and I have no idea what has happened to the third one!

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 22/12/2020 19:11

I sent two first class on Sunday and they both arrived today.

petalpower · 22/12/2020 19:28

My brother send me a parcel first class on Saturday and it arrived yesterday (Monday) which I thought was pretty good.

PiggyPlumPie · 22/12/2020 19:31

One posted last Tuesday arrived Saturday. Two posted to same address on Friday - one arrived Monday, other still out.

The Monday one got on a plane from Aberdeen to East Midlands as it had a flight label on it

I posted a parcel 1st class last Mon and it took a week. Posted something else next day delivery on Sunday and it arrived today.

Plonque · 22/12/2020 19:32

It’s basically a lottery with Royal Mail. I sent mine Hermes and have my fingers crossed it will turn up tomorrow or the next day. We’ll see...

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 22/12/2020 19:56

Apparently there are an extra 200 million parcels in the system this year!

I sent my daughters a parcel at least a week ago and it’s not got to them yet.

BikeRunSki · 22/12/2020 20:07

There was an article on the BBC Sheffield Facebook page a couple of weeks ago showing their main sorting office piled floor to ceiling with parcels. 3 orb4 times as many as they usually have at this time of year, and a fraction of the usual number of staff allowed in the building due to social distancing, also down on staff due to isolation. My postman told me today that they are having trouble with deliveries because they can’t get enough hire vans - this makes sense - I work in construction and whereas several people may have formerly shared a van, they are now mostly working in pairs. I imagine Amazon, Hermes etc have a few too!

Horehound · 22/12/2020 20:16

@amaryllisu well there's obviously a lot more parcels being sent if people cannot travel to see their family and friends. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out!

@Justmuddlingalong I ordered advent calendars from hotel Chocolat on 30th Nov and they were sent 48 hour tracked. They arrived yesterday!!

Magissa · 22/12/2020 20:59

Posted a parcel in W London last Thursday to Liverpool. First class recorded. It arrived on Saturday morning which I thought was pretty impressive.

Drogonssmile · 22/12/2020 21:14

I posted one parcel to Edinburgh and one to London last Thursday. 1st class Royal Mail and they both arrived today.

CorianderQueen · 22/12/2020 22:52

Yes, arrived two days later London to Yorkshire. I always get tracked/signed for or whatever it is though to save the fear.

CorianderQueen · 22/12/2020 22:53

Second class is always a bad idea OP. Slow and much more likely to be chucked around and turn up smacked to shit. I speak from experience.

Justmuddlingalong · 22/12/2020 23:01

Lesson learned. I've cracked open the gin to take the edge off of my stupidity and guilt. Gin Cheers to all the other bad parcel posters.
