Does Santa bring all the presents?

OP posts:

@WeAllHaveWings

Everything from us is from Santa. I have never heard of any parents in real life needing to have the credit for buying young children, who believe in Santa, Christmas gifts.

Everything from relatives is obviously from those relatives. We always made sure as much as possible that the relatives got to hand the presents to ds directly so he could thank them personally at the time, even it it was a few days after Christmas day as it is being with those people that they will remember about Christmas more than the presents. Obviously this isn't possible with covid restrictions this year.

Most people I know say just stockings from Santa because of glaring inequality of gifts between households rather than this. However, this year I do think giving ‘Santa’ the credit for fossilised dinosaur poo was stupid of me Grin

We have never said Santa does the stockings but we have said the gifts under the tree are from us and family etc.

No. Santa brings a stocking. He might also leave one bigger present, but not an expensive one.

Everything else is from the people they're from. The big expensive presents are from us, and other things are from other family members/friends.

My parents always sent a cheque and my list to santa, he did the shopping and delivered the presents. I'll be doing the same for my DD once she's old enough to understand - although I think santa will take a bank transfer now Grin

I'm 36 and father Christmas never brought all of the presents, stocking only. Mainly to stop children wondering why Santa is more generous to some children than others, but also It's important to appreciate the people around you and to thank them for their gifts, children won't do that if it all comes from a mythical man.

Fruitteatime · 23/12/2020 07:56

Thank fuck he doesn't because 3/4s of my DC presents are stuck 128 miles away in a tier 2 area (we are tier 4). We kept stocking presents from Father Christmas here, and presents from us, one main one, couple of smaller ones and some books here. Any that family were going to give were kept with them as if we were driving to stay with them we wouldn't have much room in the car. Including my 6 year olds first bike and ds first scooter. We had planned for one of of out Christmas bubble to drive up anything that wouldn't fit in the car on the 26th or 27th. I'm a bit upset about it as we now have no idea when the children will see family or be able to have their presents. When I was growing up Father Christmas delivered all the presents on Christmas Eve but they weren't all from him, just a stocking and a pillowcase full.

@StickTheKettleOnAlice
It didn't bother me at all as a child because I didn't know any different. As a parent now I feel like they are the ones who missed out on something special, my sister and I had lovely experiences. I've never asked them why, they're both really caring parents so it seems a strange thing to do.

Santa brings all the presents . He also is fab at making electrics and goes way over the top with things mummy and daddy would ever be able to buy . Family and friends presents are from them and go under the tree. Santa’s presents appear by magic on the couch .

Christmastime4 · 23/12/2020 16:50

So...the majority is that Santa does NOT bring all the presents then.

NoSquirrels · 23/12/2020 17:34

Why? What happens in your family, OP?

AnnieKennyfanclub · 23/12/2020 17:40

The stocking and 1 present from FC here the rest from us and people. The present tends to be something they really want but mid price

lachy · 23/12/2020 18:33

We've told DD that mummy and daddy tell Santa what presents to make. DD hasn't written a list (too little) but she did shout up the chimney what she wanted Xmas Grin

Santa delivers most of the presents, although she does know that sometimes other people bring them round to go under the tree.

Littlewhitedove2 · 23/12/2020 18:35

Yes of course Santa brings all the presents. Anyone who doesn’t just wants the ‘glory’ or ‘credit’ for themselves which is not what it’s all about

Peppafrig · 23/12/2020 18:37

@lachy oh shouting up the chimney to Santa that brings back memories

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 23/12/2020 19:10

No, he brings the stockings (shite)

jessstan1 · 23/12/2020 19:12

No of course not, how can he? He doesn't exist.

CarolEffingBaskin · 23/12/2020 19:23

No, he fills the stockings and brings one gift per child - often not the most expensive, but the most wanted.

Xansaf · 23/12/2020 19:25

He BRINGS them all but they’re not all from him if that makes sense. Some presents (main ones) are from us and we “send them to Santa” to check and bring with the Santa surprises.
