Does Santa bring all the presents?

OP posts:
TheSunIs · 21/12/2020 15:54

Whatever fits in the stocking here too.

rumerhasit · 21/12/2020 16:03

2 from Santa and the rest from us

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/12/2020 16:31

In 3 generations of this family, it’s always been relatively little or inexpensive things in stockings (or pillowcases) only.

Everything else (under the tree) is from family or friends, who all need to be thanked.

happymummy12345 · 21/12/2020 16:41

No. Father Christmas (can't stand the term Santa sorry) brings one big present and the stocking ones. The rest are from us

mummyof2boys30 · 21/12/2020 21:02

All gifts we buy are from santa. Familys gifts from them. They are 10 and a very young 8. Can't change now but wish we had done 3 from santa and rest us

CarolinaWeeper · 21/12/2020 22:20

Father Christmas does stockings here and that's it. It keeps it simpler with all other presents going under the tree and not having to worry too much about hiding them.

MooseBreath · 21/12/2020 22:43

Not in our house. He fills the stockings and brings one toy (no electronics) for each child. Everything else is from Mom and Dad, or other relatives.

Twobrews · 21/12/2020 22:55

I'm always surprised at how many families do stockings.
I didn't know they were a real thing until I was in my twenties and DC1 started school. I thought they were only in films or from the olden days Grin

Covidrelapse · 21/12/2020 23:15

He delivers all the presents but people buy them, wrap them and send them to him to deliver. Then he fills a stocking and brings one gift from him.

ForeverBubblegum · 21/12/2020 23:25

In our house he leaves a stocking on bed and a sack of about 10 smaller presents (£2-10, not necessarily small size) downstairs. They then get a bigger present from Me and DH, and presents from family are from the people that give them.

Catflapkitkat · 21/12/2020 23:41

No - when the children believed, Santa bought the main present. The present they asked for. Mummy and Daddy made the stocking. A few smaller gift but no more than three or four came from us. Presents from friends, Granny's etc from as labelled.

UndertheCedartree · 21/12/2020 23:47

No - just the stocking.

CrustyChrimbo · 21/12/2020 23:51

No way! Why give Santa all the credit?! He gets one decent prezzie and his stocking from santa. The rest is from us and i pop them under the tree as I wrap them.
There's anticipation from seeing the presents and trying to guess what they are and then the nice surprise from Santa comes on Xmas morn.

TildaTurnip · 21/12/2020 23:58

No for a few reasons:
-why would he give some children more than others and those who have least less than those who already have lots?
-it sounds even more far fetched to say the adults buy stuff then Santa delivers it
-we haven’t ever really said Santa brings presents at all. We haven’t said he doesn’t fill the stockings but if asked we would tell the truth

Strokethefurrywall · 22/12/2020 00:02

One main gift and small stocking stuffers here, his load is decreasing as the kids get older - everything else from us/family.

Fat guy isn't taking credit for everyone else's generosity. And honesty DS1 is 9 and probably on his last year of believing (all his friends believe), so I'm reducing the amount he brings a s they age so they don't really think too much of it when they realise he's not real.

Bikingbear · 22/12/2020 00:13

Santa delivers but most aren't from Santa.

Gemma2019 · 22/12/2020 00:24

There is an open letter on FB from a social worker at the moment begging people to please just say that stockings are from Santa and all other presents are from you. It is really upsetting for children of poorer families who don't receive the gifts they have asked for despite being really good and doing their best all year, when they can see their friends receiving iPads and phones from Santa. Anyway why should Santa get the credit for all the decent gifts?!

Aponcetasticchristmastoall · 22/12/2020 01:39

Why are there so many people saying “of course” surely you know by now Santa’s magic takes form in many different ways...

Yes in this house Santa brings all presents apart from those from other family members, a stocking, a sack and sometimes a forgotten present discovered later on on the roof (or under the tree if raining!!)

Fleshlumpeater · 22/12/2020 06:46

Maybe I’m being a bit naive and am going to be in for a shock (eldest nearly 7) but I assumed the age of believing in Santa and the age of getting stuff like I pads and phones wouldn’t really overlap too much.

Stocking and a small pile of gifts from Santa here. One big present from us and any from friends and family get given as and when we see them. The very few that are passed over before Christmas are put under the tree in advance, and the kids know who they are from.

MrJinxyCat · 22/12/2020 07:19

When the children were younger we did all presents from Santa apart from family obviously so they could thank them.
One year my daughter asked if we buy them a present so I had a rethink of how we do things.
I didn’t mind Santa taking all the credit but didn’t want them to think we don’t bother to buy them a gift.

We now have stockings and gift child asked for in letter from Santa plus a few surprises.

Rest are jumbled up under the tree. Each child takes turns choosing a gift for someone else and gives the present and we watch them open.

santasmincepie · 22/12/2020 08:32

Santa is bringing most things, but DS has something from us under the tree. He's only 1. As he gets older I'll probably increase the presents from us each year

Santa doesn't bring family presents. We'll get those when we see them (god knows when that will be!)

MinnieMountain · 22/12/2020 09:00

No. Father Christmas is not getting the credit for anything except the stocking (not that DS believes any more).

I remember having a very earnest discussion with a friend about this when we were 5.

Twobrews · 22/12/2020 09:06

As I said further up thread, in my experience of being the poor child other children tend to just talk about the bike, the console etc they rarely talk about who brought it. No children young enough to believe in Father Christmas would be getting an iPad or iPhone in my house anyway.

Anyway why should Santa get the credit for all the decent gifts?!
I don't need the credit, I know the gifts are from me. I get the excited smiling faces on Christmas morning, and now I have two older children I get the thanks for being Father Christmas all those years.
Giving can be just about giving rather than getting something out of it.

NoGoodPunsLeft · 22/12/2020 09:12

Only one or two things off the list, otherwise I just find it weird!

Marty13 · 22/12/2020 09:34

I'd never even heard of gifts not being from Santa until now !

As kids we had everything from Santa and now that I have kids (2yo and 7mo) I plan on doing the same.

By the time kids are old enough to wonder why some people get more than others, they're too old to believe in Santa anyway. And gifts being from Santa makes it more magical. Gifts from parents are for birthdays.
