Mine has to be the Pet Shop Boys - It Doesn't Often Snow at Christmas Xmas Smile

Need some more to add to my playlist!

It is a song from the 1970s by a Tyneside group, Lindisfarne. It's called 'Winter Song'.

"Just been listening to Jamie Cullum’s new Christmas album. It’s gorgeous and has some lovely tracks."
Oh, good shout, I'll have a listen, my dad might like that too :)

Christmas duel by Cyndi pauper and the hives. Warning it contains explicit content, but it's funny.

FatGirlShrinking · 19/12/2020 17:59

Ughhh autocorrect cyndi lauper

Sadik · 19/12/2020 18:02

It's a very long time since I've heard any Lindisfarne, that's a blast from the past Xmas Grin

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas

Hailtomyteeth · 19/12/2020 18:04

Cyndi Pauper? I hope not, she' had a couple of decent songs in the eighties.

Time40 · 19/12/2020 18:06

Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull

Vinosaurus · 19/12/2020 18:12

@Sadik

Oh, I'd forgotten A Spaceman Came Travelling, that's a good reminder. Lady in Red is my most hated song in the entire world, but I rather like Spaceman!
Not a Chris De Burgh fan either usually - it was a bit of a pleasant surprise!
VienneseWhirligig · 19/12/2020 18:20

Another vote for A Great Big Sled. I also love Sparkle and Shine from the soundtrack of Nativity.

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 19/12/2020 18:23

Probably pretty well known but my favourite Christmas song ever is The Darkness Christmas time (don't let the bells end). It just makes me feel so utterly festive.

SlantyBaws · 19/12/2020 18:24

It has to be Dominick the Donkey. Such fun Smile

StealthPolarBear · 19/12/2020 18:25

Freiheit keeping the dream alive.
Definitely a Christmas song but never played

CatherineMaitland · 19/12/2020 18:27

Dolly Parton, Hard Candy Christmas.

Oh, YES, I love that one - thank you for reminding me, @LuluJakey1 (extra special this year as I live about 5miles from Lindisfarne!)

Also loathe CdeB but like Spaceman (and Spanish Train tbf)

I like Fascinating Aida 'Try not to be a C* for Christmas'

LizzyELane · 19/12/2020 18:50

Gaudete by Steeleye Span (I'm not that old by the way, parents played it on their reel-to-reel tape recorder). And December will be Magic Again by Kate Bush, disappointingly not on Amazon Music.

Standrewsschool · 19/12/2020 18:55

Gaudete - haven’t heard that this year yet.

Anyone else compiling a new Christmas play list?

Passmeabottlemrjones · 19/12/2020 18:56

Mine is the Erasure version of Gaudete - it's a total bop!

Angbunnyboo · 19/12/2020 18:57

New York City Christmas by Rob Thomas, I just love it.

Shosha1 · 19/12/2020 18:59

Mine was always I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake.
But I have fallen in love with Cameron Barnes and Blyth Duffs new version on Fairytale of New York.

Candacewasalwaysright · 19/12/2020 19:00

Oh Santa by Mariah Carey
Ribbons and bows by Kacey Musgraves

Sadik · 19/12/2020 19:15

"Anyone else compiling a new Christmas play list?"

Totally! A few childhood favourites I'd forgotten (not heard Jethro Tull Ring out Solstice Bells since I left home)

River by Joni Mitchell

Username642243 · 19/12/2020 19:23

Berlioz Shepherd's farewell

PurePeppermint · 19/12/2020 19:24

When The Thames Froze by Smith and Burrows, absolutely love it.

Also Christmas Lights by Coldplay, and Christmas Must Be Tonight by The Band.
