Supermarket? Butchers? Have you pre ordered or are you waiting to pick one up nearer the time?

Was going to go for the local butchers, but they aren’t online and I can’t get through on the phone to order.

Considering just having chicken and ham this year as we’re less people anyway.

anyoldname76 · 04/12/2020 18:39

We don't have a turkey but I have ordered a leg of lamb from our butchers to pick up on the 23rd

ThatDamnScientist · 04/12/2020 18:42

Already bought from the supermarket. A frozen one, we always buy a super huge one so we can freeze a load of it once cooked and eat Turkey until Easter 😂

Bubbletrouble43 · 04/12/2020 18:42

An online meat delivery company called meat supermarket. Get lots of decent meat from them.

nahdenmardybum · 04/12/2020 18:44

I've pre ordered from my local butchers.

WillingWarlock · 04/12/2020 18:45

Christmas Eve, from the butchers.
It is a small emergency turkey though, as we are hoping to be at my mum and dads. We ordered it just in case we end up having to self isolate, or mum and dad do. If all is well, we will eat it on Boxing Day!

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/12/2020 18:47

We love an Aldi crown! They release their fresh Christmas meat on December 19th so will try to get one fairly soon after that.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 04/12/2020 18:48

Bought a frozen turkey crown in Lidl weeks ago. Will also have gammon and either lamb or pork. DH got 3 meats one year and now it's a thing. We eat it for the next week or so with bubble and squeak, in curry or pie so nothing wasted and feels special.

We did have a local free range turkey a few years in a row as we were given them whole and unplucked by neighbours who reared them. They were lovely, but I wouldn't spend £££ on one.

ExplodingCarrots · 04/12/2020 18:48

Pre ordered from butcher. Done it for the first time last year and the quality was ten times better.

Oly4 · 04/12/2020 18:48

M&S food to order

Plsv87 · 04/12/2020 18:49

Already bought a frozen one from Lidl.

Deelish75 · 04/12/2020 19:26

M&S food to order. Picking it up on the 22nd along a gammon and a couple of desserts.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2020 19:30

A local farm - they do really nice turkey and have good welfare standards. Hopefully the leftovers will see us through quite a while.

AlwaysLatte · 04/12/2020 19:36

We've got our usual order in for the local butcher but I also have a turkey crown in the freezer in case anything goes wrong!

toomuchfaster · 04/12/2020 19:41

Don't know where to get turkey at the moment! There are only 3 of us and ASDA only had huge crowns left yesterday, >£20!

Bluntness100 · 04/12/2020 19:44

M&S one being delivered by Ocado.

kitkat6 · 04/12/2020 19:47

Random half price M&S one that was half price from Ocado it has already arrived and is now in the freezer. It was £30 rather than £60!

MrsGuzzi · 04/12/2020 19:49

Morrison's food to order. Taking a chance and ordering everything, starter, turkey crown and all the bits plus desserts. Hoping it all goes well 🤞

BiteyShark · 04/12/2020 19:50

Pre ordered to pick up on 23rd from supermarket. Two turkeys because we like to cook and freeze it for later meals. Will share some with the ILs as well so they don't have to cook.

Elephanttrunk · 04/12/2020 20:08

Usually I get a frozen one from Tesco. This year I was going to get a £30 stuffed turkey crown from Tesco but then saw a good deal at the local butchers for a small crown, gammon, beef, stuffing and pigs and blankets for £40 so thought that was a bargain. Looking forward to lots of cold meat sandwhiches 😋

VestaTilley · 04/12/2020 20:10

Pre-ordered a crown and beef from the excellent local butcher- he only buys from one local free range supplier, and stocks bronze birds; he said he won’t sell white turkeys (I assume because they have very little flavour).

We’re collecting on 23rd.

EmmaStone · 04/12/2020 20:16

From local turkey farm with excellent care standards, pre-ordered and will collect on 23rd. Normally go to our local farm shop (again always pre-order and collect on 23rd), but thought we'd go straight to source this time.

1stMrsFatherChristmas · 04/12/2020 20:17

From a farmer friend nearby. Almost zero food miles - during lockdown we have often walked through the farm on public footpaths and heard the turkeys gobbling as we pass! Will pick up on 23rd because we actually eat the Turkey before Christmas Day

Dartsplayer · 04/12/2020 20:20

Got mine from our local butchers today

Holothane · 04/12/2020 20:21

Morrison a crown being delivered Christmas Eve.
