Normal songs songs that still sound festive / Make you feel Christmassy? Or Christmas songs not often played

I saw a thread on Reddit about normal songs that are unintentally Christmassy. I thought it was an interesting idea for a thread.

At the moment I am making a massive playlist on Alexa, for the Christmas period. I am on the look out for lots of song suggestions, as I don't want to overplay my favourite Christmas songs.

Less well known Christmas songs I have discovered in last few days are....

Yelling at the Christmas Tree by Billy Idol
Seasons Greetings by Cassie DeSilva

I came on to say David Essex too! OK, how about Two Become One by the Spice Girls? I think that sounds Christmassy.

I Was Born on Christmas Day by St Etienne is a rarer Christmas hit, my local radio played it the other day.

I cannot stress enough how much you need to listen to 'A Snowflake Fell (and it felt like a kiss)' by Glasvegas. It is so haunting and beautiful.

OldGreyBoots · 12/12/2020 00:15

Let's not forget that The Killers did a Christmas song every year for about a decade, some funny, some sad, some just plain Christmas Grin

Stillgoings · 12/12/2020 07:14

I really love Dolly Parton's Hard Candy Christmas. Its.not played very often and it's not very jolly but I love it

SisterNight · 12/12/2020 10:00

Tar barrel in dale by The Unthanks is a new favourite of mine

Cam2020 · 12/12/2020 10:05

Winter by Tori Amos

Thanks, everyone. I love this thread. It's great to hear your suggestions. I've got a lot of fum out of making my playlist. Another good song I've found is Baby, it's Cold Outside by Lydia Liza and Josiah Lemanski... It is a different version to what's normally played Smile Flowers

Invisible by Alison Moyet
And Only You by Yazoo.
Not about Christmas, but perhaps they were released just before Christmas.

Thanks Flowers

Every year at this time I play the Bob Dylan album - Christmas in the Heart, his rendition of Hark the Herald Angels Sing is a wonder to behold

@DianaT1969

Invisible by Alison Moyet And Only You by Yazoo. Not about Christmas, but perhaps they were released just before Christmas.
They are on my list too. 1982 and 1984 December charts iirc. But Only You was the remake by the Flying Pickets.

What If - Kate Winslet.
Feels super festive because it's from A Christmas Carol, but isn't a festive song at all.

Remembered another - Dear Jessie by Madonna. It was in the charts Christmas 1989 and reminds me of that Christmas, though I'm not sure it mentions Christmas.

TheSilentStars · 14/12/2020 17:56

No, it doesnt, (it's on my playlist) but it's so tinkly and jingly. I love it.

35andThriving · 15/12/2020 21:55

Smile Thanks

Stay another Day by East 17, the dingy donging of the bells!

Namechangeforthis88 · 17/12/2020 20:24

Thanks everyone, just set myself up a new Christmas playlist thanks to this thread. I'm especially pleased with "keeping the dream alive".
