Alternative to Molton Brown

My sister often asks for Molton Brown for birthdays and Christmas, but I feel like it has been done to death so I want to find another equally nice luxury bubble bath for this year to have a change and more of a surprise.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Smile

Liberty do some nice ones, and Jo Malone.

happybabyunit · 03/12/2020 09:56

Aesop or Hermès? Never tried Hermès myself but Aesop is lovely.

bluebluezoo · 03/12/2020 10:02

Honestly, if she likes molton brown I’d stick with it.

I also love it, but it’s a rare treat for me, often only christmas or birthday presents.

I’ve tried lot of similar brands, but always come back to MB. I want stuff I like, not to be trying nee stuff.

If she likes and asks for Molton Brown why try and get a different brand?

Butterflyfluff · 03/12/2020 10:03

X post!

Rituals is a really good brand and not to expensive you can get a decent gift set for about £30/£35 which has full sized products in

Friendshighschool · 03/12/2020 10:37

QVC have some Molton Brown Limited Editions.

LimitIsUp · 03/12/2020 10:38

I would be mildly piqued if I asked for Molton Brown and got something else. I wouldn't say anything and would express the appropriate gratitude but inside I'd be thinking 'why?'

Scarby9 · 03/12/2020 10:43

Get her Moulton Brown! She likes it. You could maybe get her a small bottle of something else alongside as a 'try me'.

BessieSurtees · 03/12/2020 10:47

I think going by the other xmas gifts threads if she asks for Molton Brown, buy her Molton Brown.

Otherwise next year she might post on the unwanted gifts thread Grin

Friendsoftheearth · 03/12/2020 10:56

Bamford is more unusual and natural.

Butterflyfluff · 03/12/2020 10:57

It’s such an odd concept that someone would try and buy ‘the same but different’ when they know the recipient likes and wants a certain thing

It is instances like this that makes you think that for some people, gift giving is more about their wants than the recipients

Blueberrycreampie · 03/12/2020 10:58

L'Occitane is lovely.

Floralnomad · 03/12/2020 10:58

I agree that if that’s what she wants just get it but I use L’Occitane as well as MB .

This.

Every year my MIL buys me (among other things) the big box of MB bath bubbles with small bottles of all the different flavours. I absolutely love it, and would be so disappointed if she subbed in something else!

Nanasueathome · 03/12/2020 11:11

I am obsessed with Bamford at the moment Absolutely gorgeous

I buy direct from them or from Liberty ..whichever is best offer/option
Their skincare is lovely too and they do ‘try me’ sets

TheVamoosh · 03/12/2020 11:15

Get Bayliss and Harding instead! The bottle is the same shape, so she won't notice the difference. (Said no-one ever!!!) 😅😅😅

I like Neal's yard. (But I like MB better.)

Mol1628 · 03/12/2020 11:16

My mum asks for Molton brown we buy her
It every year she loves it and uses it all year round. I would just stick with it!

BanningTheWordNaice · 03/12/2020 11:17

Lord of people I know have really sensitive skin and wouldn’t use a different brand once they’d found one they got on with so it would be a wasted gift to swap it.

BanningTheWordNaice · 03/12/2020 11:18

Lots*

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/12/2020 11:18

I'd stick with her preference personally.

NastyBlouse · 03/12/2020 11:23

I didn't think Molton Brown even made bubble bath, isn't it shower gel? Whenever I've tried to bubble MB it doesn't foam.

Anyway. Alternatives...

100 Acres
Scottish Fine Soaps
Arran Sense of Scotland
Noble Isle

bluebluezoo · 03/12/2020 11:29

L'Occitane is lovely

I also love L’occitane. But they have a very wide product range, some I love, some I’m not so keen in, some I don’t like. If I were ti ask for a gift I’d have to specify what product I wanted.

MB has a smaller range, all sort of similar, bath and shower gel, hand cream, shampoo/conditioner. No odd body scrubs or stuff. So much easier to just as for anything from that shop.

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 03/12/2020 11:29

If she likes it I would continue to buy it. I love jo Malone and never grow tired of a jo gift.
