I'll start. I have enjoyed:

Last Holiday
Christmas Chronicles
Christmas with the Coopers
Bad Santa

DCs, aged 7 and 9 have enjoyed anything shit with Christmas in the title :
Christmas with the Kranks
Princess Switch
Christmas Chronicles 2 (which honestly really is a pile of utter tripe)

Of course we all love Elf, but who doesn't!

Arthur Christmas is a fave in this house, Klaus, Muppet Christmas Carol.

Simplyunacceptable · 02/12/2020 10:27

We love Polar Express, Elf, Home Alone 1 and 2, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, The Grinch (Jim Carey one) and A Christmas Story which always makes me chuckle. Also The Nightmare Before Christmas, we always watch it at Halloween and Christmas because it fits both!

evilharpy · 02/12/2020 10:33

Gremlins
Jingle All The Way
Die Hard (the ultimate Christmas film)
Muppet Christmas Carol
Home Alone 1 and 2
Santa Claus the Movie (I don't care what anyone says, I think it's brilliant)
Christmas Vacation

Elf
Scrooged

I can't wait till my 6 year old is old enough to watch Die Hard!

1stDecember · 02/12/2020 10:35

I second Arthur Christmas. We watch it every year!

1stDecember · 02/12/2020 10:35

The Santa Clause was quite good as well.

Try the bishop's wife
Sn0tnose · 02/12/2020 14:22

The Bishop’s Wife is my all time, absolute favourite!

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 02/12/2020 14:24

Yes, the Bishop’s wife. Love it.

Also It’s a Wonderful Life.

Mol1628 · 02/12/2020 14:24

Jack Frost!!

It’s a little cheesy but definitely not bad!

notanotherlockdownsurely · 02/12/2020 14:26

We ( DD GS and I) recently enjoyed nativity 1 and 2

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 02/12/2020 14:35

Nativity is brilliant!
I liked Fred Claus too but that might be because Vince Vaughn is the main character Blush
Santa who? Is pretty good
And one of my childhood favourites is One magic Christmas

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 02/12/2020 14:42

I also like classic films in general at this time of year (all year round really, but especially at Christmas):

Casablanca
Roman Holiday
Sabrina (Bogart/Hepburn)
To Catch a Thief

Etc etc

Schummakker · 02/12/2020 14:45

The Princess Bride is good fun.

HoxtonBonnet · 02/12/2020 18:17

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule - have you seen Office Set with Katharine Hepburn in it? It has a fantastic drunken Xmas party scene - love it!

We also like old movies - especially Its A Wonderful Life and pretty much anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in.

Arthur Christmas is the best.

Elf is shit and The Polar Express is freaky.

Theaspidistraiswilting · 02/12/2020 19:10

Really do not understand Polar Express...

HerbErtlinger · 02/12/2020 19:51

The Polar Express is super creepy. As is Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol

Thanks for the recommendations, I will try a Bishop's Wife, I've not heard of it before

DrDavidBanner · 02/12/2020 19:59

I've not heard of The Bisop's Wife either but anything with cary Grant is worth a watch.

I Like;
Die Hard
Elf
Its a Wonderful Life
Muppet Chrismas Carol
Gremlins
Arthur Christmas
National Lampoon
Christmas Chronicles
Nightmare before Christmas
Miracle of 34th Street - either version

I find Polar Express and that Jim Carey film creepy too

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 02/12/2020 20:03

Cary Grant and David Niven! Plus the lovely Loretta Young.
