23
Has already got a phone, headphones and an iPad so doesn't need or want any tech. Doesn't want or need clothes.
Am getting some 'posh' fragrance
Have bought a new duvet cover
Absolutely no ideas for anything else, and doesn't want money either!

Get him some skincare? He'll need to start using it soon lol.

DP is 25 and I've got him an Oral B io, an Apple pod, a slanket and some retinol. He earns triple what I do and is in the camp of 'buys what he wants when he wants it'. Annoying man.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/11/2020 18:12

Has got a uke.

I like the idea of a fire pit a lot.

Ido think some people say “ nothing” because they can’t be bothered with the effort of thinking. It’s a stock answer. I sometimes say it and then literally I’ll go home browse a website and think “ mmm. that’s nice”.
For some people it's a genuine answer though. I could come up with heaps of things I think are nice but it doesn't mean I want to actually own them. I try to avoid showing interest in anything in front of certain relatives now as they don't understand that I just like to look at things.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/11/2020 18:34

I think, "I don't want anything" actually translates to, " Covid is shit. I've lost my job, my girlfriend and my social life and no amount of pretty presents under the tree can compensate ".

Ah that's hard Sad He will appreciate the thought your putting in OP

How about a nice overnight bag? DH was given one a few years back and uses it all the time, despite not knowing he needed one!

jay55 · 29/11/2020 21:29

Posh normal food bits? Nice olive oil, Christmas mustard, pic n mix, salamis, fancy crackers, cheese truckle.

LindaEllen · 29/11/2020 21:44

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

The sketch book is a lovely idea.

Feel a bit as if I'm being lectured by some people on here, and am really not in the mood for that.

I think he's had a new capo and guitar picks every year for the past ten Grin.

More paint a good idea, and nice hot chocolate.

Thanks to the people who are giving ideas and not lectures. Appreciated!

Excuse me, but I think a 'lecture' might be exactly what you need. You're completely ignoring your son's wishes and getting him a load of random shit that he neither needs nor wants. If you want to waste your money go ahead, but when you post asking for advice on a forum, advice is exactly what you're going to get.
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/11/2020 21:44

Thanks, Fixit. Great name - I love The Sneetches!

A bag is a good idea, as is a load of salami. 👍😀

Linda
It's a fucking Christmas forum, and I believe I came on here to ask for gift ideas, not lectures. Please go and find somebody else to bitch at, because I'm really not in the mood.

I posted earlier bout my 70yo dad playing in the dark with finger lights - forgot to mention he was playing his guitar Grin he said it was fun, soothing, a bit trippy, meditative, slightly childish - everything he could want from a stocking gift!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 29/11/2020 23:21

Swiss Army Knife.

(There can never be enough picks. My son has been away at Uni for 2 months and everyday I find one in an unexpected random place)

Sorry your boy is having such a hard time Sad

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 29/11/2020 23:23

Reusable straws.

OchonAgusOchonO · 30/11/2020 10:31

@RainingBatsAndFrogs

Reusable straws.
Go for silicon or bamboo. My dd20 found the stainless steel ones hurt her teeth. Although yes, you could ask why she is biting them .
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/11/2020 20:00

Thanks, Raining. You're absolutely right re picks!

ElQuinto - love the idea of your dad tripping out with finger lights! Any chance of a link to the ones you got?

put some money in his pension for him

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/11/2020 20:40

Thanks. We've already saved quite a lot for the kids, and don't want to just give money. Just want a couple of things for unwrapping.

Your poor DS sounds like he has had a rough year and I’m sure a few well chosen gifts will cheer him up.
Pick stamper
Jumper
Aftershave
Pyjamas
Good jeans like Levi’s?
Boots/trainers
Leather/denim jacket
Backpack
Aeropress/coffee beans/ travel cup

Hope 2021 is kinder to your son.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 30/11/2020 21:22

I've just bought my brother of the same age a DIY gingerbread man doughnut kit from Doughnut Time which had nominated delivery for Christmas eve (so that I can give them to him on Christmas day and they'll still be fresh.) They're pricey, but I can vouch for them being delicious!

elQuintoConyo · 01/12/2020 00:33

Here's a link to Amazon fingerlights linky mclink although I got mine from Tiger.

I've since bought them for my 9yo and they were a great hit. They're soft and stay on with wide, not-too-tight elastic bands (attached to the light). Cheap as chips Grin

These ideas come from another thread. Helping others might help lift his gloom.

Loads of great ideas on here. I have got my 22 DS a high end desk chair. He is back home at the moment but I figured that, when he leaves home, it will be something he will want to take with him.
I have struggled with an advent calendar, I've done cheese, marshmallows and pork scratchings over the past few years and he is not into grooming. I have settled on boozy chocs but his DSisters are much easier to please.

caringcarer · 01/12/2020 01:46

My son played electric guitar and we got him a Wawa pedal. Not sure how to spell it.
A giant fluffy towel.
A double size fleece to go on his bed/sofa
A sizzling pub voucher. He goes there with his friends.
Lounge pants
Star Wars socks
Marvel pants
Air fresh for his car
Chocolate orange
Wash bag
Electric toothbrush

DeRigueurMortis · 01/12/2020 02:21

Guitar strings...I use a lot Grin but that's because I've got my L plates on.

Ive heard via friends with older sons than mine that skincare is now a big thing with men.

Pharell Williams has just launched a skincare line (no idea if it's any good but it's trendy) so "cool" man products might be good to lift his spirits - given I don't subscribe to the idea that only women enjoy plush toiletries as a present.

Myshitisreal · 01/12/2020 02:35

If he's into his music, does he have any musical heroes who are no longer with us? When Syd Barrett (pink floyd) died, i got an amazing print and framed it for my brother. He was genuinely devastated and the picture meant a lot to him. Obviously it depends on his musical influences.

Mc Esher pictures are amazing, I have night and day in my living room (another framing idea).

Battery pack? Good backpack? A nice case of craft beer? (beer 52 do great offers and you can usually pick up the first case for postage. You subscribe but then just cancel. If this interests you and you can't find it free shout me, I may have an email to give you a code for a free one). There's are other craft beer subscriptions.

New wallet?

Emp is a great site for unique items which are niche - comic /musical /films etc.

Beer fridge sounds amazing or a smoothie maker if he's into fitness and shakes?

Retro sweet box.

Bottle of bourbon?

Does he use a games console and might need a new controller or controller charger? Gaming headphones?

Bluetooth speakers? Can get great compact ones.

Toastie machine? Breville

Are there any hobbies he's wanted to start or interests?

Dm boots?

Metronome?

Lava lamp
