please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Buckley London jewellery have another Fiver Friday sale www.buckleylondon.com/fiver-friday

I would second the bead jewellery set idea @LutherRalph1. My DTs were given one similar to this - I thought it would be a bit girly for them, but they've enjoyed making little bracelets etc!

queenoftheglee · 20/11/2020 12:31

Would anyone like 50% off full price stock at Landsend? Hopefully I've managed to attach the codes....

Just caved in and bought the hotel chocolates. Going to divide it up between 3 people and keep some for me.

Now need a gift for my step dad, he’s 70 and a drinker. I’m thinking socks and a bottle of something? He’s a big wine drinker but I know nothing about wine. Any recommendations for some funky socks?

TheCrow · 20/11/2020 12:38

Not on offer but home bargains have these leather effect my little pony (the old style) notebooks with gold page edges for £1.69 in blue or pink. They're beautiful and look way more expensive than they are!

@Spiderbee These have been mentioned previously, I've got them on my wishlist waiting for a price drop

myhobbyisouting · 20/11/2020 12:59

@Lovemusic33 asda have 25% off when you buy 6 bottles at the moment. If you can't get a peek through his recycling have a look through photographs of Christmas gone by and see if you can spot a bottle on the table for clues Grin

mammyaroundmadness · 20/11/2020 13:04

MydeamonsanOstrich · 20/11/2020 13:04

Spiderbee I got the Anker ones from Amazon for about £20 after being recommended here.

Spiderbee · 20/11/2020 13:21

Thanks @bettyskitchen

I'll keep my eyes peeled for them to be at a good price.

Does anyone have a Boden code or know if they usually do Black Friday offers? I have a snail obsessed DD and they've got a gorgeous girly top with a snail on. However I cannot justify spending £19 on a single top!

NeedMoreTea · 20/11/2020 13:31

@icanboogieboogiewoogie Not specific to that film but what about angelina ballerina books?

NeedMoreTea · 20/11/2020 13:35

Threads are moving sooo fast this year. I've had to give up on the last 2 threads as I just can't catch up.

Thermos king travel tumbler flasks included in the Amazon Black Friday deals today, if anybody else is after one (not all colours reduced though).

Dolphintrainer · 20/11/2020 13:42

@SisterNight don’t pay full price. They’ll definitely do a BF offer

weebarra · 20/11/2020 13:46

Tigger83 · 20/11/2020 13:46

Any cheap nice Christmas tin recommendations? Going to do some baking for a few people who I know would appreciate it!

Duckswaddle · 20/11/2020 13:58

Are there any m&s codes floating around? Feel like I’ve missed a few!
I have a 25% off matalan code:

[quote Graphista]@fuckingfucksake

older couple one with Alzheimer’s hamper ideas

I have (I used to work in elderly care) beyond the usual “naice” tea/coffee/biscuits/chocolate/cake are:

Large print puzzle books - include good fine writing “marker” style pens, propelling pencils and highlighter pens (they’re easier for word searches)

Deck of cards

Set of Dominos

Dice

Connect 4 level difficulty or very familiar games in travel sizes, magnetic can be especially useful if either has any shakiness, or if you think they’d take in the spirit of fun games like Jenga or buckaroo - buckaroo was VERY popular one place I worked we ended up stocking up when a local shop had a sale!

Quiz questions (you can get wee books also sets of cards) set in their “era” of when they were teens/twenties - often the memory of this stage goes last and they remember very well news and current events from then including dates often better than a person of the same age without Alzheimer’s playing against them! It can give them a wee confidence boost to “beat” a competitor on this

Comic books of the comic strips they’d have grown up with - I’m in Scotland and “broons” and “oor Wullie” books Fit the bill for this.

Also if they still have a vcr (my parents do in bedroom) or DVD player (parents in living room) then you might also be able to get them films and tv shows of their “era” - again comedy tends to go down best!

Laughter is good for ALL of us medically at the moment - boosts immune system, reduces stress hormones and gives the lungs a healthy “workout”, in Alzheimer’s patient’s sense of humour can be first thing to deteriorate but has also in some studies been found to slow its progress (much more research needed)

I’m housebound with mh issues and a physical disability and I have asthma too - 1st thing I did in response to covid? Started watching more stand up comedy! Try and watch at least one show every couple of days for the lung and chest muscles and immunity benefits![/quote]
This is such a lovely post. Thank you for sharing these ideas, they are brilliant Smile

What a lovely thread this is!

BalaamsAss · 20/11/2020 14:06

@Tigger83 if you have a Sostrene Grene near you they have both tins and gift boxes at a really good price. They are my go-to for gift boxes actually because they are sturdy, beautiful and cheap. Last year I used both their tins and gift boxes to gift baking to various people and will do so again this year

NeedMoreTea · 20/11/2020 14:06

@LutherRalph1 I've got teens and a 4 year old and they all enjoyed doing sand art pictures in lockdown 1 (although the teens would never admit it). We did mandalas but you can get lots of different types of pictures. Baker Ross sell packs of the pots of coloured sand and separate packs of pictures. You just peel off the section you want put sand on (although I'd advise only let them do one colour at a time). Fairly messy though 😬.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 20/11/2020 14:10

@Tigger83 I take it you mean empty ones to put cake in? Dunelm have some nice sets like this one, or Aldi also have some sets here!
