How to secure a garland to stairs please?

I'd like to buy this extra long White Company garland to use in a very similar way to the way they have in the photos - albeit that my staircase isn't nearly as grand. But it is a similar shape, spindles, handrail etc.

How would i secure it though please? I've only ever laid a garland on a mantlepiece before, but I do fancy having something lovely on the stairs.

ani that’s a lovely photo and I get what you are saying now about the baubles. I have seen cheap ‘filler’ type garlands in Dunelm (the ‘make your own garland’) which is about six feet long and only in the region of a tenner.

I am wondering if I could go rogue and buy some filler type garlands and one decent one and just have a go. I am not remotely creative though.

I have all of the cable toes, florists wire and fake pine needle wired pieces in my Amazon basket. I don’t know how many stairs I think I have!

Dental floss! What a good call!

Thanks for this thread OP funnily enough I was considering my first bannister Garland this year and also at a loss how to attach Grin
Next Q - this one doesn't come with the lights so you'd have to add your own but do people use plug in lights? I'm imagining wires everywhere. Or those little battery ones ? They make more sense I guess lol

These are reusable and adjustable. You do need to hide them though!

Aldi have some green Christmas ornament hooks at the moment too for 99p which are perfect for attaching baubles to a garland!

@whynotwhen I use battery lights in my garland for my fireplace and hide the little battery pack behind it. I personally don’t use lights on my stairs one but I’d have to use battery ones in that too otherwise I’d have wires trailing everywhere!

I use clear cable ties, cheap as chips & do the job Smile
