In the past we have had a takeaway and will probably do that again this year, probably Indian as DH isn't a big fan of pizza and I find Chinese too salty.

What do you think you will have? 🤔

Something easy for sure. Not so sure about a takeaway as we tend to eat too much.

HurtleTurtle30 · 15/11/2020 23:39

We’ve booked to go to our local Indian (no lockdown permitting) for a meal at 18:00. Within walking distance of the house. We usually have a takeaway like yourself but fancied something a little different this year. No young children here just teens.

Dd1 is working Christmas and Boxing Day so will come and visit after her shift on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts.
I'm going to do a ham with some chutney and a cheese board.

AIMD · 15/11/2020 23:43

We have pork Apple rolls Xmas eve. Lush!

lurker101 · 15/11/2020 23:44

We live away from my parents, so it’s always a real Christmas Eve treat to get takeaway from my favourite childhood chippy and I order almost the whole menu and have a bit of everything 😂

Dotinthecity · 15/11/2020 23:44

We always have an M&S "Dine In" so there's minimal cooking and washing up.

Holothane · 15/11/2020 23:44

Providing I can get it fillet steak and chips.

Belle1983 · 15/11/2020 23:46

I do pulled pork rolls. Usually pick a different recipe to try each year.
As I've been out for lunch the last few years, it's great for snacking on xmas day evening or boxing day too.

motherstongue · 15/11/2020 23:47

We have a family tradition of eating out on Christmas Eve. It’s now always somewhere really nice so we can get glammed up (it’s got posher as the kids got older, they are now late teens/early twenties) and it’s a treat primarily for me as I always cook Christmas dinner. We all really look forward to it as it marks the beginning of Christmas for us.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 15/11/2020 23:47

I’m not sure yet. Something light, like a soup.

MaverickDanger · 15/11/2020 23:47

We’ve ordered a sushi platter to collect this year.

I’m hoping I’ll have given birth at this point, so get to have what I’ve been craving, plus pretty easy to eat one handed!

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 15/11/2020 23:48

Chicken super noodles.

Oh that’s given me an idea!

I’ll do kimbap and maybe prawn pancakes.👍

LittleRa · 16/11/2020 00:04

We have macaroni cheese 😋

May09Bump · 16/11/2020 00:08

Tapas and rjoca - the first time in many yrs I won't be wrapping presents till late on Christmas Eve. I will enjoy this one. Mac and cheese sounds great too !

We always did this in my family - it started as a way of tiring me and my brother out so we'd fall asleep in the car on the way home and there was no Christmas eve 'too excited to sleep' tomfoolery, and morphed into a glam and quite boozy treat as we got older! The last three years it's been a nice takeaway at my parents, though, as now DB and I both have babies and toddlers so dinner out somewhere posh doesn't work so well! I guess we probably won't be doing it this year as it would be six adults from three households Sad
VestaTilley · 16/11/2020 00:17

Always the same here: fish pie.

pinkksugarmouse · 16/11/2020 00:23

It sounds heavy having Indian the evening before but I only manage side order and less than half of the rice. Christmas Dinner will be a dainty portion too.

I might get some fancy cola. Not a fan of Coca-Cola but there are some nicer ones bought only for special occasions.

Party tea :)

Rolls - probably pulled pork and onion stuffing, crisps, dips, cheeses, crudités, some mini desserts. Can’t wait

PolkadotGiraffe · 16/11/2020 00:27

Fish usually.

grassisjeweled · 16/11/2020 00:30

Not sure. Might do a football tea : chicken dippers, nachos, brownies, popcorn.

MintyCedric · 16/11/2020 00:32

It's only me and teenage DD and since being in our own place post divorce and living with my parents we have a tradition of baked camembert, celery, grapes and soft rosemary breadsticks twisted with streaky bacon, served with bubbly and followed with lots of chocolate!

I love a baked Camembert!

Cranberry sauce is really good as an accompaniment, along with dried cranberries and walnuts.😋

Kintsugi16 · 16/11/2020 00:39

Never mind Christmas Eve.
Why are you having a dainty Christmas dinner?

Time2change2 · 16/11/2020 00:41

Baked Camembert, cranberry sauce or similar, warm crusty bread, posh crisps, party snack bites like duck rolls, fancy prawns on skewers etc. Lush
