Thread 20 - the one with the reminder to put the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 15/11/2020 21:49

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@kingat
Best way is probably to but second hand tbh. If you get a couple if nice boxed sets new you can add on a whole pile of basic blocks cheaply. And they go through the dishwasher in a laundry net so you can make sure they are clean.

BeaLola · 18/11/2020 14:15

Someone was asking about M&S Deliveries - I ordered 2 separate lots yesterday & have had notification that they have been despatched already ?

re M&S could just be me but the website seemed low on certain items (I don't mean sizes I mean the products) eg single Xmas Cards, Tights etc

Escentual have 25% discount across their website upto Friday

ToastandJamandTea · 18/11/2020 14:24

Has anyone had a recent delivery from studio? I ordered some things over a week ago and haven't recieved them or even had a dispatch yet.

IggyAce · 18/11/2020 14:24

Well I’ll be looking at you lot to keep me sane. My bubble has closed and I need to isolate for 2 weeks. So will happily try and source hard to find things.

1122christy · 18/11/2020 14:32

@Hunnybadger1 smyths is the best place for our generation. Obv there is their own online store but I find smyths beat them in prices.
Debenhams also do a small range of our generation. Amazon always have things too but their prices are a lot higher.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 18/11/2020 14:34

Maybe Studio are a bit overwhelmed @ToastandJamandTea? My order arrived within a few days last year but this year I'm still waiting for these pyjamas to be in stock, two weeks ago they told me it would be 'soon' Hmm

(I need XXL ones for DP and can't find any elsewhere that would be suitable and in his size!)

Oh what a pain @IggyAce, that's why I'm trying to be super organised this year in case it happens to us; the DC's school has already had a couple of bubbles close. I would get nothing done with them at home... hope everything goes ok whilst you are isolating!

ToastandJamandTea · 18/11/2020 14:39

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl thank you. It isn't anything I am desperate for to be fair. I relaly just wanted the wrapping paper part of it.

BigBadBox · 18/11/2020 14:40

Our Generation I often see stuff in TKMaxx. It's getting a bit close for postage but aliexpress is great for cheap doll clothes. I also like Frilly Lilly for doll clothes

Raindropsonrosesand · 18/11/2020 14:41

Thanks @1sttimemama! I'll put it in my basket and keep an eye on it!

Lovemusic33 · 18/11/2020 14:47

Stuck at home with ill dd for a couple more days (climbing the walls), decided to wrap some Christmas presents and realised how much I still have to buy, hadn’t got as much as I thought. Hoping there’s some god bargains for Black Friday week and hoping my bank balance magically goes up in the next few days 😭.

Struggling with dd2, I have bought her 2 Lego sets and a few craft sets but because she’s off school ill we have been doing the craft sets so she now doesn’t have much to open for Christmas. She’s 14, has ASD and loves building things? Any ideas?

Also a small gift for a 15 year old girl who doesn’t really like make up?

Changingagain · 18/11/2020 14:51

ToastandJamandTea I ordered wrapping paper from them a few weeks ago, it took about 2 weeks to arrive.

I have a very random request (well, two actually) and I’m hoping the hive mind of the bargain thread can throw up some solutions google has so far been unable to.

My 10 year old DD has requested a fluffy alarm clock for Christmas. She is getting her own room for the first time ever and wants it just right. She has this vision in her head of a fluffy ball alarm clock that you push a button on to switch it on and off. It doesn’t actually seem that random an idea to me but I can’t find anything like it online. Has anyone seen anything remotely similar?

Then for DH I want to get him global time zone clocks for his home office. Ideally I’d like 3 clocks, but would go for 2 if I got a better style. All the ones I can find online are very corporate looking and I want something stylish! Obviously they will need to be personalised. Any ideas?

MsMiaWallace · 18/11/2020 15:05

Free hoody when you buy joggers from Hype.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 18/11/2020 15:09

@BalaamsAss not a bargain but there is one on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scott-cx55-furry-clock-radio-/233717735589?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

BalaamsAss · 18/11/2020 15:16

Ooh - definitely not a bargain @NaturalBlondeYeahRight, and sadly I don’t think she’d want it to be brown, but other than that, it is exactly what she wants. I’m off to google the brand name now. Thank you!

I got this. Some for me, some for teacher presents.

Here’s the link in case anyone wants it

kingat · 18/11/2020 15:39

Thank you both for duplo ideas

VividImagination · 18/11/2020 15:41

@Lovemusic33 what about the 3D jigsaws. Most places have them. Ds3 is also 14 and autistic and has suggested he might like some for Christmas.

@BalaamsAss 'trendy time zone clock personalised' in google brought up loads, including www.etsy.com/uk/listing/556353027/roco-verre-personalised-gloss-acrylic, which is a mantel one, but otherwise might fit the bill.

SecretDancer · 18/11/2020 15:47

Thank you for the camera recommendations for 4yo. She is quite cautious and careful so a "proper" camera is a great idea. I'll get checking eBay.

butterflymum · 18/11/2020 15:50

@BalaamsAss any same make, but wooden, www.contemporaryheaven.co.uk/roco-verre-oak-wooden-time-zone-clock

Weirdly it's only giving me £10 off (ie 20%) with that code. How odd.
