So eldest son is 14 and has not asked for a single thing for Christmas! Asked and asked him offered him suggestions and he is certain there's nothing he's wanting or needing. Has new xbox console as he's saved all Christmas money, pocket money birthday money etc for the last year to get it himself. He has a phone and a laptop for schoolwork. So far he has an outfit, trainers, Pj's, boxers, socks, smellies and a book.. Not the most exciting of gifts but at least it's a start.

If he has given you a basic list and he’s happy , why not give him the balance of the amount you intended to spend so he can buy something when he needs/ wants it? My children used to love receiving stationery for school!

Mrshaych · 14/11/2020 18:15

Stationery would be great to help out with his stocking thanks for that 😊 he doesn't seem fussed at all with minimal gifts so probably will end up with cash and maybe vouchers just don't want his presents looking a bit naff next to his younger brothers

Perhaps get something Relatively inexpensive but big and fun, to help bulk out the present pile - a bean bag, swingball set Etc?

BecomeStronger · 14/11/2020 18:25

Mines having a gaming chair, as worry about his posture whilst playing for hours and this way I get to choose a piece of furniture I can bear to have in the house - consoles are downstairs here.

BluebirdHill · 14/11/2020 18:27

Would he like to go somewhere for a day out once restrictions start being lifted? So it might be a present delayed till say next summer but he'd have it to look forward to.

Rachetine · 14/11/2020 18:29

If he’s got a new Xbox can you get him a game for it? There’s a lot of buzz about Cyberpunk 2077 which is due out next month. Or maybe a second controller or a headset for it?

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 14/11/2020 18:31

Smart watch, new gaming headset, headphones or a voucher for a day out somewhere, my Dc likes doing driving lessons at a certain place or go karting.

kowari · 14/11/2020 18:35

Mine has only asked for food and money. No interest in clothes, shoes or toiletries. I'm getting him a weighted blanket, extremely hot chilli sauce and chocolate.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 14/11/2020 18:37

My DSS so far has asked for Cyberpunk as mentioned above, Watchdog Legions, some new earphones and a leather bracelet (got him a nice engraved one from Noths), earrings and a cacti bowtie (always likes to set me a challenge, last year avocado socks!!). I've also got him a shower speaker. I need more ideas mind as we have his 16th birthday in December & need gift ideas for wider family too so following with interest.

pinkbalconyrailing · 14/11/2020 18:37

some books, a couple of computer games and a sports camp/course that they really wanted.

BoulangerieBabs · 14/11/2020 18:38

Has he got a proper gaming chair? We bought ds one and it's fabulously comfy and he no longer has backache.

stayathomer · 14/11/2020 18:43

Mine loves things like bop it and air hockey (we have a tabletop one that cost about 20quid), darts, annuals, and this year he wants poker chips, the exploding kittens card game, a minecraft tee shirt and some art stuff. Best of luck OP, it's a tough age!

Mrshaych · 14/11/2020 19:16

Ah the gaming chair would be ideal, he just has an old type basic computer chair at the moment. What type did you get?
It really is such a difficult age.
Ive never heard of cyberpunk I'll watch out for it.
The only book we have so far is guineas world records which he gets every year. Hoping to maybe find a boxset of books he would enjoy, no luck so far!

I've got one of my teen boys a husky mini fridge and will get him a crate or two of his favourite canned drinks and an in fridge water filter. A computer chair as his broke. Got him Bose head phones last year. My younger son wanted a new bed so I got him an IKEA loft bed with a full size desk under Neath it. He will also get some head phones as he sends to go through them very quickly.

DancingGuru · 14/11/2020 20:07

I’ve got mine a yoga mat and some hand weights, a cheep oodie, Xbox points plus some led lights to go round the monitor

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 14/11/2020 21:31

Some great ideas here. My DS is 13 and I'm struggling, he's only just had his birthday as well.

I8toys · 14/11/2020 21:35

Gaming chair and fridge filled with favourite snacks and drinks. Also coloured strip lights.

didireallysaythat · 14/11/2020 21:44

My 14 year old DS and doesn't want anything either. So far he's got a chocolate orange and a packet of Cheetos. Maybe I just give him the other £92 as hard cash?

ragged · 14/11/2020 22:09

Big teen: gaming mouse. They can cost up to £180 each (or maybe more). Also needs a new keyboard but we will cover that.

Nearly teen: rotary carver (type of power tool for woodworking). He would like headphones too.

If you decide to give money/vouchers but still want him to have presents to open then what about making up a hamper with fave sweets, drinks and a dvd or two.
Or B&M sell big tubes with 5 or so pot noodles my almost 13yr is getting one, he got one last year and thought best present ever lol or things like hot sauce sets, hot chocolate sets
If you aren't sure of books he might then maybe vouchers for book shop or Amazon and let him choose.

Mrshaych · 14/11/2020 22:27

He loved the pot noodle gift last year definitely have to get another. Saw a similar pringles one on another thread think ill get one if those 2.he has a mini fridge from grandma last year but think a hamper with drinks n snacks will be ideal.

1122christy · 14/11/2020 22:32

Yeah the Pringles one is good too I'v got that for my youngest as she doesn't like pot noodles.

Ltdannygreen · 14/11/2020 22:38

Feeling your pain. DS 12 who is 13 right after Christmas only asked for airpods, he then piped up and Asked for a PS4 game... the rest I’ve clutched at straws for and then I had to turn my attention to his birthday because if I leave it till after Christmas everything is usually sold out.. so it took me 3 weeks and he’s told me 2 things... looks like I’ll be thinking outside the box again. Next year he wants the ps5 because he wants to wait to see if there’s any issues.

SmellsLikeAHamsterCage · 15/11/2020 00:29

Driving experience? I've just bought my dd one at Mercedes Benz world. As long as they're tall enough, they can drive a car.
