Not sure what age range you are looking for but favourites in our house are: Raymond Briggs Father Christmas, Barbara Reid's The Night Before Christmas (we love the illustrations in both of these books)
A christmas for Bear by Bonnie Becker and Janet and allan ahlberg's The Jolly Christmas postman.

CloudyVanilla · 02/11/2020 20:52

It's surely the Jolly Christmas Postman! Halo

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/11/2020 20:54

The Empty Stocking (by Richard Curtis) makes me choke up every time I read it!

Christmas in exeter street is by far the best. Dd loves it.

I also love the christmas stocking.

Dds other favourite is the story orchestra version of the nutcraker.

Lucy and Tom's Christmas by Shirley Hughes.
Dear Santa is lovely for little ones.
I collected a few over the years and I keep them with the decorations so we only read them in December.

Iamonlyme · 03/11/2020 18:29

The Works have a 24 pack of children's Christmas stories this year we are doing these books as an advent calendar and can save for Christmases to come.

lexloofah · 03/11/2020 19:43

Father Christmas Needs a Wee, not a tear jerker obvs but funny

Walter Wick has several search and find Christmas books including some early readers. We love this night before Christmas one

Canklesforankles · 03/11/2020 21:27

Jesus’ Christmas Party is lovely. Funny and gentle.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 03/11/2020 21:31

Kipper's Christmas Eve is lovely

jocktamsonsbairn · 03/11/2020 21:38

The girl who stole the stars is a lovely newly released book for this age range.

Stroan · 04/11/2020 08:28

We read How Winston Delivered Christmas last year. It's like an advent book, so one chapter per night up until Christmas. Really lovely.

And Christmas on Exeter Street is a Christmas Eve favourite here.

Mokusspokus · 04/11/2020 08:43

Papa nova special day.

The nutcracker...

daisypond · 04/11/2020 08:49

The Story Of Holly And Ivy -Rumer Godden - is lovely. About an orphan and a doll. I read it every year. Very short book.

shesgonebatshitagain · 04/11/2020 08:56

The Polar Express
Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo is one of the three children’s favourite books of all time. It’s about a robin making the treacherous journey home for Christmas to be with his little Robin wife.
Every time I read it to them my eyes fill with tears

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/11/2020 09:16

Room For A Little One is lovely - it’s the Nativity, but from the POV of all the animals keeping warm in the stable on a cold night. Truly beautiful full page colour illustrations.

Cinderellashoes · 04/11/2020 09:18

The Christmas Bear by Anne Mangan is very old but such a lovely gorgeous book.

This year I’ve ordered the Grinch!

YessicaHaircut · 04/11/2020 09:26

Lucy and Tom’s Christmas is so lovely and always brings a tear to my eye. Perhaps aimed at younger kids, definitely good for your 3 yr old!
The Church Mice at Christmas by Graham Oakley is also great, it has wonderful illustrations and would be suitable for an 8 year old.

YessicaHaircut · 04/11/2020 09:27

Oh and the Brambly Hedge Winter Story, I loved that one as a child.
