Our generation dolls and accessories. Lego. Arts and crafts- my daughter is into sketching at the moment. alarm clock, kids smart watch. Scooter, desk calendar. Just some of the ideas my 8 year old has given me. She also loves reading so books, nice pjs.

covidmonkey · 22/10/2020 08:18

Lego and some furry collectibles. She doesn't like dolls.

nillygin · 22/10/2020 08:22

My nearly 8 year old is a massive bookworm too - the main thing she wants is a national geographic dig kit. I’ve also got her some Lego friends though and a colour by sticker book as she really enjoys those :0) still looking for more ideas that aren’t books, so following with interest!

combatbarbie · 22/10/2020 08:26

Hmmm she would like a rabbit (GPs are getting this and hutch etc) a reborn doll which is £100 but she plays with her sisters old one all the time. And a rock tumbler.... However on reading up the thing has to be on constantly for 10 days 😳

Needtodecide1 · 22/10/2020 08:28

Mine doesnt really play with toys anymore so she is really difficult this year. She has asked for a laptop as her main present.

So far I've got her a big tie-dye set with various items to dye. A globe which also lights up and shows the star constellations at night and an art case.

She is getting a new bike from grandparents.

My boys are so much easier!!

UniversalTruth · 22/10/2020 08:28

My 8yo ds is getting Gravitrax, CD/radio, Lego and books. I also looked at the marble run in cubes, can't remember what it's called.

He would love some sort of book corner in his room but there isn't space - is that an option?

Atalune · 22/10/2020 08:32

Dd is getting-
Chrome book
Fake fur coat from Zara
Lego friends set
sylvaian family sets

Then she will have her stocking too which will have a book token in it and a couple of books amongst the other time. She’s a massive book worm.

Atalune · 22/10/2020 08:33

Guinea pig bed too

She's asked us to transform her playroom for her, so it's going from a little girls playroom to a more grown up den space for her. We'll get some small things to unwrap but that's her main "gift"

TheCrow · 22/10/2020 10:12

@UndertheCedartree sorry to be a possible killjoy but if you haven't already, please look into reviews for the dork diaries books. I googled it to see what age they're appropriate for as I thought my 8 year old would like them and they have so many terrible reviews and say stuff like 'a celebrity can be seen without her panties but not without her cellphone' and 'I felt like such a retard' and references to hooking up 😕 I was shocked and loads of people said they didn't realise they contained such stuff so just a warning to people before they buy them!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/10/2020 10:27

My DDs (7&9) are getting camping/expedition gear as their main present.

Other stuff...

Cub stuff (DD7)

Chopsticks (stockings)
Door sign with Harry Potter quotes (stockings)
Harry potter sweets (Stockings)
Stationery (stockings)
Beanie Boo (stockings)
Seeds (stockings)
Craft kit (stockings)

Other people have got them Harry Potter House jumpers, Lego (Dots/HP/Friends) .... And other stuff I can't remember

Sodamncold · 22/10/2020 10:41

Have you considered a kindle. Great for travel and you can get books immediately although maybe she is a little young.
What about an Alexa. Good for music, audio books and is a wow present.
What about a micro scooter or a netball post? DD’s loves their netball post around that age and gets them out into the fresh air.

Sodamncold · 22/10/2020 10:54

Netball post!!!!!!
Amazing idea

Prefer to keep off electronics for a bit as does fair bit of that with her dad

Bid876 · 22/10/2020 11:02

My 8yrDD asked for a Rainbocorn, big LOL set, a pet robot & Harry Potter lego. I’ve changed the LOL set to a tablet for her which I know she wants more.

I’ve also got her a raindeer blanket, she’s obsessed with rudolf 🤷🏼‍♀️ an archery set & a designafriends gymnastics pole for her our generation dolls.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/10/2020 11:13

Netball post!!!!!! Amazing idea

We got a netball post for DDs birthday. They love it. If it's freestanding you will need sand or water for the base.
Sodamncold · 22/10/2020 11:30

Any netball post recommendations?

I’d like to buy a really good one

OP posts:
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/10/2020 11:39

The brand name on ours is Oypla. No complaints about the post (and it's adjustable so will grow quite a bit.). We will have to replace the actual netting, but that appears to be our rlocal wildlife not a failing on the post.

mamawithfive · 22/10/2020 12:23

My 8 year loves drawing, so am going to get some new drawing supplies - nice pencils, sketchbook, colours.
New iPad case, and some wireless headphones.
She also wants some new trainers, and some bright/funky athletics outfits.
Twisty petz.
She collects Beanie Boos so a new one of those, and a key ring one for her school bag.
She likes Top Model bits too so will get some new books and some of the colouring pencils.
Dressing gown & pyjamas too!

Atalune · 22/10/2020 13:08

Bean bag chair was a big hit last year. And a new saddle for her bike- cushioned one.

combatbarbie · 22/10/2020 14:12

Oh forgot to add were getting her the basketball cage thingy..... She lives playing that at arcades
