Anyone with a velvetiser, how do you store the chocolate sachets? The boxes are getting out of control and taking up loads of room.

Swan do a milk frother/warmer for £35, I was going to get that. Is that all the velvetiser is? Because can’t justify that much for a milk warmer!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 19/10/2020 21:39

It’s also very pretty! 😳

EnjoyingTheSilence · 19/10/2020 21:40

Comes with a couple of cups and sachets if hot chocolate and a voucher

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 19/10/2020 21:44

The best way to froth hot milk/hot chocolate is to put it in a cafetiere and rapidly pull the plunger up and down - fast, cheap and it produces a really creamy, stable foam that's as good as a professional steam arm. Worth trying if you don't have the money for a fancy electric one!

EatPrayYoga · 19/10/2020 21:45

I ordered it on the QVC deal. It was a good deal. I have a £10 off voucher if anyone wants it.

The velvetiser with two cups is £100 on HC and on QVC it was £90 (including P&P) for the velvetiser with the two cups, 10 hot chocs and 10 lattes. I don't drink coffee but I might start Grin

I looked at the dualist but does that also have the whisk in it?

The velvetiser is by Dualit so it could be the same thing!

EatPrayYoga · 19/10/2020 21:46

Any tips for hot chocolates to try other than the HC ones or are they the best?

MyDucksArentInARow · 19/10/2020 22:00

We bought one last year. Charbonnel et walker hands down the best flakes to put in. Don't think much of the HC ones really. Waitrose is the cheapest place to buy c&w. The hot chocolate from Paul's is the best thing of all time to Velvetise though. Wish it wasn't so pricey to buy the cartons of that! Woman in the shop thought I was a loon buying 10 last time I was in London!!

EatPrayYoga · 19/10/2020 22:13

Paul's?

I just read about the C&W on another thread today. It didn't occur to me they did hot chocolate but I will definitely be trying it!

Yes it has the same whisk in it. I think one of the photos on the JL link shows it in the bottom as the frother is being poured.

Granted its not as pretty as the velvetiser and you don't get the cups or any chocolate but if you don't want to spend as much it's a good alternative.

EatPrayYoga · 19/10/2020 23:08

I might have ordered it if I'd known for sure but then that's about £50 alone I think and I paid £85 for the velvetiser plus two cups, ten hot chocs and ten lattes so it's probably not a huge difference.

Hopefully the link works. If not, Paul Patisserie Chocolat Chaud, comes in a carton. Pricey but worth it for a treat, a carton does 3 in the Velvetiser.

Cocoba does gorgeous not chocolate flakes, award winning too

EatPrayYoga · 22/10/2020 07:47

I bought some Whittaker's milk chocolate yesterday to use in the velvetiser and was given some samples of salted caramel to try

I have wanted a velvetiser for a while but I don't think HC hot chocolates are the best there are (they could be the best ones you can get at home)

TeenPlusTwenties · 22/10/2020 07:54

So looking forward to receiving mine this Christmas. Smile

I had never heard of them until watching a TV program on Hotel Chocolat the other night, then 2 threads on here (not including this one) convinced me to ask DH to order it.

EatPrayYoga · 22/10/2020 07:56

I'm waiting for mine too Teen I ordered it from QVC as it was on offer a few days ago

autumnboys · 22/10/2020 08:01

We use callebaut callets from Amazon after I saw a video. You have to set the velvetiser going and wait for the milk to warm before you put them in, but that minor inconvenience is more than made up for in price. I’ve also just ordered a bottle of salted caramel syrup from Amazon too for those of us who prefer the salted caramel sachets.

TeenPlusTwenties · 22/10/2020 08:05

DH ordered direct, but came and told me he had been given £20 at the till, so perhaps they were matching the QVC offer.
I also requested 1 box of the every flavours, and one of the 70% because my guess is that is what I will like best.

(We used to go to Café Nero twice a week, but I can't even get there fore takeaways right now Sad)

covidmonkey · 22/10/2020 08:16

I received mine yesterday. Hot chocolate is gorgeous but lattes are sickly. Dc loved the choice of different tastes.

OublietteBravo · 22/10/2020 08:37

We bought ours at the start of lockdown. Favourite flavours are: salted caramel (DS), milky 50% (DD - she tends to add gingerbread syrup), chilli-dark (DH) and classic 70% dark (me).

For anyone wanting a velvetiser, if you order direct from Hotel Chocolat you can currently get £20 off (code: VEL20OCT).

Splodgetastic · 22/10/2020 14:19

Thanks for sharing this code and I’m so glad I came across this thread today!

GazingAndGrazing · 22/10/2020 14:33

It’s arrived! Waves good by to waistline...

SweetPeaPods · 22/10/2020 15:33

So glad so many have gone for it, you won't regret it, we love ours. However if you find a great way to store all the chocolate sachets let me know!
Our favourites are mint, orange and salted caramel.

Does anyone have a velvetiser and nespresso milk frother? How do they compare?

GazingAndGrazing · 22/10/2020 20:59

I’ve put the sachets in my wardrobe along with the extra flakes I bought - I’ll bring them down as and when so the teenagers don’t go mad in the first few days...
GreasyFryUp · 22/10/2020 21:10

Lavazza milk frother 👍
