Gift ideas for 11 year old girl (who thinks she’s 16)

Hi ladies,
I’m really struggling for ideas for my daughter. I think she would like the new iPhone but I’m not too sure because she’s already got the XR at the moment. I’m not too sure about the difference between the two other than the better camera and the charger? She absolutely loves friends and make up so I’ve bought her the friends monopoly and the friends revolution make up bits. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Just bought mine a towel turban and shower cap as little extra useful presents.

There is a Friends notebook and pen set on amazon.

What does she like to read? We could maybe suggest some books she'd like?

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 16/10/2020 14:29

Mine will be 12 at Christmas. She's getting lego, science kits and embroidery kits and a big pile of books.

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 14:34

@JuliaJohnston

Why are you trying to push a new, expensive iPhone on an 11 year old because you think she would like it? Very strange op.
I’m not trying to push anything...it’s what she says she would like. Sorry but everybody is different I don’t feel I should have to explain myself. I don’t understand why people have to be like this. I only posted this for a little help with ideas.

I’ve just been to B&M and got her a few stocking fillers.

Does she need any sports/hobby kit?

My DD is nearly 12 but fairly young in her ways, still enjoys her dolls & toys etc but she's getting:

Chromebook
Bluetooth speaker
Lego friends cube
Dressing gown
Fake oodie
Yoga blocks
Thumb piano
Lego london skyline
Skintones pencils
Adidas hoodie
Harry potter socks
Fountain pen
Velvet scrunchies
Chopsticks & instant noodles
Fidget cube
Bath bombs
Books

My DM is getting her a tie dye kit.

Thinking next year/birthday about a sewing machine.

WreckTangled · 16/10/2020 14:39

My dd is 10 going on 15. She's not allowed a phone or iPad etc but I'm going to her an instax mini camera, might your dd like that? Also washable make up pads and some nice face washes etc, bath bombs, underwear from river island (as opposed to the Sainsbury's ones she usually gets!). I can't afford it but I know she would love a heated blanket too.

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 14:40

Ah sorry, she’s read the hunger games and the twilight series. Book suggestions would be fab. She absolutely loves books and I want to keep it that way. Like I said before she absolutely loves writing. Basically anything to do with English she enjoys and she’s just started to show interest in history since starting secondary.

For a "big" present, an HP sprocket print photos from her phone.

If she is into Youtubers, Carrie Hope Fletcher (sister of Tom from McFly for those of us older than Youtubers!) has just released a re-writing of Ballet Shoes called Into the Spotlight, so you could get her that and a nice copy of Ballet Shoes.

K-blings. I don't know if they'd do Friends ones, but they have Harry Potter, Disney and Marvel. I think they have some sets, but you can get blind bags too.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/10/2020 14:47

This might have to be a future present, but I bet she'd like tickets for SiX when theatres start re-opening.

PhantomErik · 16/10/2020 14:49

Percy Jackson or any series by Rick Riordan are brilliant! They learn about the differents greek/egyptian/norse gods so a bit historical too.

Emma Carroll writes historical fiction, the one we've really enjoyed is Letters from The Lighthouse which is about evacuees during WW2 but probably a bit young but still enjoyable.

Distopian fiction is quite good for that age I think, Divergent & Maze Runner series are great.

Has she read any of the Dan Brown books?

It's such a funny age isn't it?!

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 14:56

She was supposed to go and see SiX with her nanan got postponed due to Covid. She absolutely loves musicals that’s her dream to be on the west end lol.

I keep asking DD11 for a xmas list but I suspect it will be mostly tech.
She has my old iPhone 6 which has a very cracked screen ( me not her ) and runs out of battery in 2 hrs so I will probably upgrade that bug def not to the latest model

Something that I dream about having since your daughter's age is those old fashioned notebooks/journals (hard cover, no spirals, quality paper inside) for writing. And a fountain pen to feel a bit fancy. Maybe a calligraphy book to go with it?

There's virtually no change between one model and its sucessor in flagship smartphones, and frankly, I wouldn't splurge so much money in something you think she might like.

InTropicalTrumpsLand · 16/10/2020 15:29

Friends inspired, personalised notebook.

Fabric cover notebook, you get to pick the fabric.

A bit marmite, but if she's recently become interested in history it might be worth a try.

Same here! I saw it at the beginning of the year and bought her tix for the tour which would have been now.
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/10/2020 15:36

Some West End merchandise then? Here's stuff for Six, or there are some filmed versions of stage shows like the Les Mis anniversary concert you could get the DVD for.

Singalong showtunes book?

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 16/10/2020 15:43

How about an Apple Watch or some AirPods? That's what mine is after (same age) she already has an Apple Watch (reconditioned older model)

MooseyMoo · 16/10/2020 17:11

Has she read any books by Lucy Worsley? My Name is Victoria is good.

Hairydilemma · 16/10/2020 17:15

I just got DD (12) a book by Nikki Lily which I’m think she’ll like - it’s called How to be a Teenager or something like that. Think Nikki’s a great role model so hopefully the book will be good.

Hairydilemma · 16/10/2020 17:15

*I think 🙄

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 17:17

That book sounds interesting I’ll have a look at that, thank you. She had the Apple Watch last Christmas and the air pods at her birthday. We have a Polaroid as a family already. She did like the idea of a good camera but I don’t feel she’s old enough for that just yet. So many book ideas thank you all so much, greatly appreciated.

So far I've bought mine this set:

BaByliss Air Style 1000W Powerful... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZY9WZPW?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare
The PLT advent calendar - a pre Christmas gift but from the budget
PJs
Some makeup

She would like a pink Xbox controller and money to spend

Jenniferturkington · 16/10/2020 17:19

Similar situation here op. I’m going to get her a gimbal and a light ring and a tripod. Basically so she can make TikTok videos.
She will also be getting cricket pads but that’s not that exciting, she just needs them.
