My DD is 8 and loves taking photos on my phone (she doesn’t have a phone) so I’m going to get her a decent camera. I’m getting a few modelling kits (animal based) and a new maileg mouse for her collection. I’ll do her a stocking with putty, magnetic toys, a few books (Isadora Moon and Ottoline as well as a unicorn book with lovely pics). I’ll probably get her a slime making kit and a soft toy too.

StarShapedWindow · 12/10/2020 10:11

Oh, and makeup - her latest request!

wizzbangfizz · 12/10/2020 10:12

She turned 8 last month and make up featured heavily!

Dd wants to sponsor an unusual animal - turns out that can be done and one zoo a couple hours away has some, so will get the sponsor pack and arrange a day out.

Last year she wanted a set of 'gemstones' with a book about them, so have got a few more polished stones.

Some craft project that results in something that doesn't take up much space!

Books - Amelia Fang, Yet Another Species of Blossom Wood...

A chocolate orange - if Lidl started doing solid ones in good chocolate, they would corner the market!

Few little things specific to her.

TheCrow · 12/10/2020 10:19

My girl will turn 9 a few weeks before Christmas. She's getting-

Light up skateboard and safety set (she played Tony hawk Pro skater and decided that's what she wants to do when she grows up)
Hama beads and boards
Fortnite monopoly
Minecraft calendar
Hoodie of her favourite youtuber
Wimpy kid and Tom Gates books
Unicorn sweet treats hamper
Caticorn light
Stocking fillers are mainly cat themed- pencil sharpener, fluffy pen, socks, slipper socks etc

unexpectedthird · 12/10/2020 10:25

My 8 year old is a funny mixture of scruff and lover of glamour. She spends half her time looking like Pig Pen and the other half pristine.🤣

Last year she got some hair chalks which she loved.
This year she's getting a kids garmin, Ripley's Believe it or Not book, a unicorn onesie for her doll, a cycling helmet, a space hoodie from Lands End and Just Dance for the Switch.

In her stocking she'll get: a hot chocolate spoon, hair clips, lip gloss, socks, pants, a mini geomax kit, a lego minifigure, stationery, a chocolate frog, bubbles and personalised pencils.

sodapoppinkypie · 12/10/2020 11:07

A phone
Massive art set
Personalised bottle
Personalised journal
Bean bags
A few bedroom accessories
A bike .
This year she has been incredibly hard to buy for as she doesn't play with toys any more and no longer believes in Santa . She still did a list and on it put a bin for her bedroom and 3 donuts so she'll get them to Smile

7&9 year olds are mainly getting expedition equipment... But its a hobby of theirs (basically DH and DDs load the canoe with their camping stuff and pop off for a day or two). It's upgrades/needed stuff.

7yo is getting Illustrated Gblet of Fire, 9yo getting a watch.

Stocking has HP bits, baking stuff, stationery, Lego, book, tolietries, other random bits

Other people getting them craft, Lego, metal detector, microscopy, puzzles.

wizzbangfizz · 12/10/2020 11:50

She was mad about LOLs until about 5 mins ago so I had bought some to put up
One side - going to donate them to a Christmas charity box now!

Minecraft crap
Books

Kanaloa · 12/10/2020 12:11

My 9yo is getting some clothes she has asked for, merchandise from her favourite programme, some books, a Harry Potter lego set and a few small bits. She and her older brother are also both getting roller blades which they asked for.

minipie · 12/10/2020 12:19

Watching as I am really stuck! DD is 8 fairly soon before Christmas so my ideas will be used up for her birthday.

For birthday she is getting (from various family members)

  • canopy for over her bed
  • sheepskin for her bedroom floor
  • Hatchimals playset
  • Little live pet fish
  • pencil case
  • a dress she wanted
  • couple of fact books

I don’t know what to do for Christmas ... She’s recently got into helping cook and always loves books and art stuff/stationery, so there should be some ideas there. But no idea on a main present.

mamawithfive · 12/10/2020 12:35

mine like lol stuff, gymnastics/athletics outfits, make up, drawing, gel pens etc, pyjamas, trainers, clothes, jewellery. My two are pretty easy to buy for, they prefer lots of little bits rather than a main gift. They have iPads already, so may get some new cases and headphones.

itsme · 12/10/2020 12:49

My 8 year old is getting schleich horse club bits- a stable and some horses. Bath bombs, pjs, art stuff, a board game and other bits I will get as I see them.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 14/10/2020 19:04

Looking for some ideas for my DD who is 8! I found her easy to buy for her birthday but I’m a bit stuck for ideas for Christmas.
For her birthday she got roller blades, an animal adoption, Sylvanian Families bits, books, a fingerling, clothes, Top Model bits...all big hits.

I think her main Christmas pressie will be a Polaroid camera and accessories. She’s getting audio books from her grandparents - either Harry Potter or Chronicles of Narnia. I’m looking at maybe getting her a resin jewellery making kit. And that’s all I’ve got ideas-wise!

For her stocking I’ve got/I’ll get her:
A crystal growing Christmas tree
Small Sylvanian set
Book
Hair bits
Gloves
Bath bomb
Novelty sponge or body puff
Cupcake notelets
Small puzzle or similar
Chocolate orange.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 14/10/2020 19:05

I may end up getting bits for her room as she and her sis are moving into bunk beds and she’s seeing it as an opportunity to revamp a bit!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 14/10/2020 19:52

My dd is 8 she is getting

Coffeeandcrumpet · 14/10/2020 20:13

I am going to get my 8 Yr old a charm bracelet, not a branded one but with the idea family can buy her charms and then when she's older she can transfer them to a bigger bracelet, will get her a nice book to record who bought which charms and when.
She would like a hover board but reluctant on this one. May think about a camera, but she would really like a phone (not happening). Will also get some art stuff and cooking things as she loves both.
If anyone else has an arty child the ready steady paint boxes are great.

wizzbangfizz · 15/10/2020 09:45

My DD got a scruff a luv last year and I remember a hilarious thread on them Grin
