Didn’t Lush Snow Fairy used to be affordable?!

Just been to find the soap sponge that smells the same as snow fairy, it’s called “pixie potion” and is buy Emily Victoria. Just looked online and they do other items, cheaper than Lush and probably just as good quality if not better.

here

A bath bomb is mainly bicarbonate of soda. Bit of colour and fragrance. They used to be £2-2.50 a bomb.

Ridiculous prices now. Too expensive for what it is.

GelisVanBorselen · 06/10/2020 14:37

@TheCrow, I'm sorry, I think you've misunderstood. You asked me why I wondered whether my post might be deleted, and I replied that it's because I've criticised their business practices. They might not like this and it's not impossible that if they read it they will complain to Mumsnet and have the post removed. I haven't suggested that anybody else is advertising Lush? My problem is with the way they advertise themselves.

TheCrow · 06/10/2020 14:41

@GelisVanBorselen whoops you're right, I did misunderstand, I thought you meant the whole post would be removed not just your response.

Cherry111 · 06/10/2020 14:54

I have just bought Snow fairy squeezy wax in a bottle from latherup.co.uk (sorry don't know how to link) it smells exactly the same - they also do the bath bombs for £1.95 and the 7oz ones for £3.50!

GelisVanBorselen · 06/10/2020 15:30

@TheCrow that's ok!

Nookable · 06/10/2020 17:26

I used to be a huge fan of Lush but haven't bought anything in years because of the staff allegations. You can really easily turn bubble bars into shower gel which can either work out as a cheaper version or is great if the smell you like isn't sold as a shower gel.

Just get an unscented shower gel (simple do one), pour into bowl and crumble a bubble bar into the shower gel. Stir it and leave covered until it dissolves completely. Stir again and funnel back into the bottle Grin. Not the best idea for gifts but great for personal use.

Or try one of the many snow fairy dupes out there.

MrsHSW · 06/10/2020 17:42

My DH loves this stuff but I don't buy it anymore. Firstly because it's become a rip off and secondly because of their treatment of women. Might buy some of the oil mentioned by a previous poster (thanks!).

I like Bath salts more and in lockdown found some fab stuff on etsy including bath bombs and so much cheaper! Though not snowfairy scented unfortunately.

Cherryrainbow · 06/10/2020 18:25

I agree it does seem more expensive. Sometimes the gift sets work out better but I wasn't really tempted by any of the sets this year. I have asked my DH to pick up a small bottle for me as a stocking filler as I've had one every year for years but if there was an alternative same smell I'd probably go for that x

ChristmasIsMyJam · 06/10/2020 22:20

Used to love Snow Fairy but since I had DD I can’t stand the smell of it! No idea why - but probably for the best, given the price increase.

TeaLibrary · 10/10/2020 13:36

I used to buy loads from Lush way back when it was reasonably priced. Its so overpriced now and I hate that they seem to discontinue products so frequently. I used to love some of their shower gels like Freeze and Tramp / Skinny Dip / Flying Fox or the amazing Hot Toddy. All gone now. I loved their hair treatment Arabian Bright and Hair Doctor. Both of those are gone too. I do still love the Magnaminty face mask but again its very expensive.

Appuskidu · 11/11/2023 15:50

I have resurrected my own thread to moan again. Snow Fairy is now £39 for a big bottle!

To be honest, I only looked on the website out of curiosity as I don’t go in their shop any more. The last time I did (probably 2021), I was pounced on by three shop assistants, one after another, all wanting to know what my favourite smell was. Their customer liaison training must be frightening!

If anyone knows of any lovely shower gels, soaps or bubble bath which smell similar, please can you let me know!

Thanks for the recommendations for smell alike products; my DSiL loves Snow Fairy and I’d really like to get her something she’ll enjoy, but I can’t bring myself to spend any money with them.

GettingStuffed · 11/11/2023 16:48

The best Christmas one they made was fairy jasmine, it had so much glitter we were all covered in it for weeks. I don't like snow fairy as it is too sweet. Also given up shopping there due to prices. Last time I was in a shop we didn't get pounced upon by staff although they were around if you needed help.

Sideorderofchips · 11/11/2023 16:53

Lush used to be brilliant. I remember when the Taunton shop opened nearly 20 year ago

Now even my 16 year old is :/ about the prices. You don't get alot for your money

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/11/2023 17:55

Treaclemoon’s frosted candy angel is a dupe apparently!

Mydogisamentalist · 11/11/2023 18:15

I love rose jam but I refuse to give them any money. I used to work there and they are truly a vile company to work for. It sounds batshit but it’s almost run like a cult! If you have any opinions outside of their beliefs you are ostracised.

@Appuskidu try Lather Up. I’ve been using them for years and they are really great quality. They have really good dupes of popular fragrances including Snow Fairy (Snow Angel).

Snow Angel Bath Bomb 4oz - Lather Up UK

Snow Angel bathbomb is similar to the scent by the popular bath bomb high street retailer. A fresh, uplifting bubble gummy scent. - Lather Up UK

Lush have always been pretty expensive but prices have now gone up even more. I only like a few of the bubble bars, the bath bombs give me thrush 😬 as does the shower gels but I love the smell of rose jam. I rarely buy from them anymore, prices are just crazy.

heetud · 11/11/2023 20:08

Gutted they haven't got a Golden Wonder (the present bath bomb) any more, I've bought those for my kids for Christmas Eve ever since they were tots :(

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 12/11/2023 07:29

Philosophy’s Christmas range are lovely. Very Christmassy

ZZGirl · 12/11/2023 09:30

I loved Lush, would spend loads in there but now the only time I will go in there is Boxing Day. Its so expensive. I even changed my skin products because my cleanser went from £7.50 to £10.00.
