Does anyone else have a DH who is practically impossible to buy for? He doesn’t need anything, doesn’t want anything and I have no clue what to get him.

He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t like sports. He sounds horrifically boring but he’s not I swear Grin

What are you getting your impossible to buy for DH?

This year I've ordered him a wood burning pizza oven and I can't wait for proper, wood fired pizzas!! Selfish motivation for this present.

I also do him a stocking and this year so far I have:

a multi tool he hinted about weeks ago
cherry dark chocolate liquours
florentines
mini champagne
a whiskey glass with his initial
a mug with his initial
toblerone
socks
pork scratchings (YUK)
chilli nuts

I also bought him a table tennis kit which can be set up on the kitchen table and I think he'll LOVE this - he used to enjoy playing as a teen. I might give it to dd to give him as part of her present to him.

One year I bought a wicker hamper base from Lidl (small, empty) and bought his faves to fill it eg Christmas pudding, Reese cups anything Maltesers related. I got some random food items in Home Sense too. Now it's one is his presents every year and he dips into it well into January

BojoKilledMyMojo · 21/11/2020 09:06

Late to this, but for those of you who have partners who like cars, Heel Tread socks are fantastic!

Redbubble is great for t-shirts and the like with a nod to various films / TV shows etc. You just search whatever you're after and browse through the designs.

For those into gaming, I know they tend to buy the games they want. But a personalised controller is always a good one.

I've bought framed maps of his favourite places this year too.

BojoKilledMyMojo · 21/11/2020 09:13

@Appuskidu I swear by Danish Endurance socks

AlwaysLatte · 21/11/2020 09:15

Last year I got my DH WiFi headphones and he uses them all the time - cutting the grass, walking the dog, watching Netflix when he can't sleep at night.
The previous year I bought him an iPad - he had said he wouldn't use one enough to justify buying one but he uses it every day!

AlwaysLatte · 21/11/2020 09:16

Bread maker? I have one and my husband uses it sometimes, he loves fresh bread.

majesticallyawkward · 21/11/2020 09:26

My DH is shocking to buy for- he has a hobby but just buys what he wants whenever he wants it. To the point we're on first name terms with 3 delivery guys!

I usually get him a photo desk calendar but with wfh it's pointless this year. He likes geeky T-shirt's so he'll get one or two of them and some socks as he goes through them.

The best present I got him was a weird little filler gift a few years ago. A multi screwdriver thing with 8 different heads that screw in to the bottom so you can change it. He loves it and it's used regularly.

I've also done a little box of treats he likes- fentimans cola, scampi fries, yorkies and vodka last year and this years will be blue curaçao, lemonade, posh crisps and starburst.

@KatieBenz
This website has some good ice cube makers.
They appear to have the freestanding equivalent of the fancy fridges that dispenses cold water or different sized ice cubes.

www.klarstein.co.uk/

There’s also beer dispensers, epic looking popcorn machines and great looking coffee machines.

Thanks for all the ideas on here - I've ordered a Brooklyn sketch book, a selfie stick and Journal 29 off the back of this thread!

My hits have been:

A personalised soundwave for my husband - I tickled the kids so they're giggling and the print came with a QR code that you can scan to hear the file that the print was made from, which is lovely.

Personalise star maps so you put in a date and place and you get a print of what the stars looked like that night.

Storyworth is good - it essentially forces you to record your memories by asking specific questions, so it's great for any age, but ideal for anyone who keeps thinking they should write down some memories for their children/grandchildren.

Another surprise hit has been smart plug sockets - my husband has a studio that gets cold so now he can switch on the heating etc 5 minutes before he goes out so it's warm and the lights are on etc when he gets there.

FoxInABox · 21/11/2020 16:18

I also have one of these annoying DHs who don’t need or want anything, and has no hobbies!

He has a very special bond with our eldest dog. He mentioned he needed a new hair brush (for him not the dog!) so I have ordered a personalised tangle teezer with a photo of the dog on Grin it’s brilliant and came within two days of ordering, in its own little gift box.
I’ve also ordered him:
-steak stone (selfish gift as I will enjoy this too and steak is the only meal he really cooks)

  • clothes as he never spends money on them for himself
  • trainers
  • tool bag & fancy tape measure as his usual one keeps sticking
  • the radox original bath gift set as he loves a bath and the original radox is the best!
Nonamesavail · 21/11/2020 18:14

Oo I just got the original radox set on amazon too. Good price.

FannysSteadiedBuffs · 21/11/2020 18:16

www.supersocks.co.uk/ is the place I've used for photo socks.

Cyclingwidow15 · 21/11/2020 18:53

We’ve just bought a campervan so I’ve bought my husband a Cadac safari BBQ grill. I like the idea of the pizza ovens though. Will keep that in mind for next year Wink
I’m also going to order the belt made from recycled bicycle tubes, great idea!

Bellbell1199 · 21/11/2020 18:56

Glad I've come across this thread. Was justv Going to post similar, what do you buy a man who doesn't want anything... Literally no clues!
Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke,.doesnt like 'tat' presents.
Money is tight this year with baby coming and having to move house.
Ill stalk this post for ideas.

Jerble · 22/11/2020 02:06

@ElectricEels - thanks for the sketchbook recommendation. Although no good for my DH, this will be perfect for my DD!

Jerble · 22/11/2020 02:08

@clpsmum - The Book Of Everyone looks really good. Will be saving that idea for a milestone birthday! Thanks.

Nonamesavail · 22/11/2020 07:54

Book of everyone and brooklyn sketchpad both looks really good. We are trying to buy a house so I have promised not to get him anything else :(

Sarahclacko · 23/11/2020 11:16

If anyone’s looking for a men’s hooded dressing gown Morrison’s have a nice dark grey fleece one for £20

AliceMck · 24/11/2020 21:42

So far mines got a bottle of IPA in a Star Wars tin.... no idea what else to get him.

bananamonkey · 25/11/2020 09:51

I’ve just ordered a sunrise alarm clock as he’s always grumpy in the winter mornings, there’s some Black Friday deals on Amazon and Boots

GenericDietCola · 25/11/2020 15:10

Another vote for Red Bubble for cool printed designs - you can search for things your recipient is interested in, such as sports teams, bands, movies etc.

missrabbitismyhero · 25/11/2020 15:36

Master of Malt have some really lovely tasting sets in their Black Friday sale - whisky set, rum set etc. Some are reduced to around £10. I have gifted one previously to my husband for Father's Day and it was well received.

HoollyWugger · 25/11/2020 18:09

Zyliss mug? Like a little cafetiere.

A small cafetière (£4 in Asda, £5 in Tesco) and instructions on how to use it at a milk frother (put hot milk in and plunge up and down - amazing results!
