The “I don’t need anything” husband gift thread

LongPauseNoAnswer · 03/10/2020 20:10

Does anyone else have a DH who is practically impossible to buy for? He doesn’t need anything, doesn’t want anything and I have no clue what to get him.

He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t like sports. He sounds horrifically boring but he’s not I swear Grin

What are you getting your impossible to buy for DH?

www.clayskitchen.co.uk/
Clays are also delivering Indian food UK wide.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 16/11/2020 10:08

Clays are local to me and they are AMAZING! We've had several takeaways from them over lockdown. I'm so glad they are now delivering nationally.

Whattodowithaminute · 17/11/2020 07:18

@Cloud21 have you looked at in car coffee makers

drspouse · 17/11/2020 08:54

Just ordered DH a very expensive Leatherman, with a screwdriver/hex bit set as I think he'll mainly use or for

drspouse · 17/11/2020 08:55

Gah! Use it for DIY.

MackenCheese · 17/11/2020 09:04

Can i jump on? My husband is the same. No hobbies other than reading, and he'd rather have library books than "waste money" buying them. Any ideas welcome!

catwithflowers · 17/11/2020 09:28

KihoBebiluPute. Thanks so much. I'm now buying this for my game-loving husband. He loves games like Catan, Civilisation etc so this is hopefully up his street 🎄😊

Cloud21 · 19/11/2020 12:32

@Whattodowithaminute
Thankyou, I did immediately after I ruled out the Nespresso ones but I can’t see any that have the lid with the ability to drink out if it from all sides (making it a 360 degree lid?)

CountFosco · 19/11/2020 12:41

DH doesn't like asking things and says he needs nothing so this year I called his bluff and said we needed a lamp for the hallway and could I give him that as a Christmas present. Apparently not, despite him being responsible for Mum giving me a toaster one year and him buying me a large TV thst I didn't want another year. He's still not told me what he wants though so he's getting a microwave as he keeps saying we need one. He's also getting a book and a framed print he likes so I'm not being completely mean.

blametheparents · 19/11/2020 13:04

Molton Brown are offering 25% off at the moment with the code BF25.
Might be useful for some lovely shower gel for your DH.

BlindedByTheWork · 19/11/2020 13:30

@HildaTablet

It's a great idea Whattodowithaminute but unfortunately he's got very specialised taste in books (academic/science/music) and he usually asks for very serious tomes he sees reviewed in the New York Review of Books. The only way he ever reads things he's not interested in is via the book club we're in, and he almost invariably doesn't like anyone's choices....I think I might have the hardest nut to crack on this thread tbh ShockSad

Last year I got him a lovely bookbinding kit because he used to do that and expressed some enthusiasm for starting again - but he hasn't even taken it out of the box as far as I know....

@HildaTablet where did you get the bookbinding kit from please? Smile
bananamonkey · 19/11/2020 13:43

Yes @Charlottle thank you I’ve ordered the Tokyo Treat subscription for DH!

Snoringferret · 19/11/2020 14:14

Last year my DH couldn't think of anything he wanted then finally asked for a 'black ball point pen, but not one of those bulky posh ones, a nice writer like a bic' Grin

I always feel so shallow because I have a list as long as my arm if things I want.

Toilenstripes · 19/11/2020 14:17

For Star Wars geeks, I just bought my husband a Darth Vader pen holder. It’s 3D and ships from America, so £££, but I was desperate.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 19/11/2020 14:34

My DH asked for a hamper of specialist foods, so I'm going to gather bits and pieces from artisan producers. Kobe steaks, truffle cream for pasta, truffle honey, raw buffalo mozerella, world award winning olive oil and balsamic, cavier, etc.

AluckyEllie · 19/11/2020 15:23

@ElectricEels thanks so much for that- it’s the type of quirky fun thing my husband will love, can’t wait to see what he does 😀. Great gift.

WithLotsOfSprinkles0 · 19/11/2020 16:03

My partner is just the same but then nearer christmas he tells me things I could get him, and I've either already spent the money or it's too late to get them.
I've made a list

Fitbit watch
Pyjamas
Hoodie
Jumper
Boxers
Socks
Orange chocolate
Amaretto

Jemenfouscompletement · 19/11/2020 21:10

Socks.
My DH is always thrilled with them. He doesn't need or want anything else.
And yes, he is useless at present giving too. Fortunately I always need running socks.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 19/11/2020 21:13

Do you have DCs? How about a pencil portrait of them- lots of artists on line that will do them from photos.

Charlottle · 19/11/2020 21:17

@bananamonkey

Yes *@Charlottle* thank you I’ve ordered the Tokyo Treat subscription for DH!
Glad it was useful for someone and hope he gets some of Japan’s wonderfully weird things in there Smile
coolingbreezes · 19/11/2020 22:22

Shameless place marking. I usually only really get DH clothes, because he hates buying them himself.

HildaTablet · 20/11/2020 11:50

@BlindedByTheWork sorry, didn't see your message till just now but
this is the place I got the leather-working kit from

tisonlymeagain · 20/11/2020 12:25

Can't remember who recommend Angus and Oink but THANK YOU. This is perfect for my DP!

Nonamesavail · 20/11/2020 12:35

Got my husband a pair of socks with the cats face on and a homemade hamper of sweets

Sarahclacko · 20/11/2020 13:57

@Nonamesavail can I ask where you got the socks from they sound ideal
