Need inspiration for DD, she'll be 3.7 at Xmas but want to know what people suggest for that age. She has a kitchen/bike/scuttlebug Smile what are you getting your DC around that age?

Sylvanian families for my dd. A new baby and one of those heads to brush the hair etc

AConvivialHost · 02/10/2020 22:02

My DD is 4 in December, so some of things we've earmarked for her birthday/Christmas are:

Maxi micro scooter
Leapfrog Mr Pencil's Scribble & Write
V-tech Kiddizoom Smart Watch
Sylvanian Families Starry Point Lighthouse and family
My Fairy Garden set
Polly pocket set
Hama beads set
Wireless karaoke microphone
Musical jewellery box and kiddies costume jewellery
Marble Run
Orchard toy jigsaw/game

micc · 02/10/2020 22:32

We are getting my 4 year old toy story action figures from father Christmas :)
I have also got her a mini rubix cube
A wooden tetris puzzle
An alphablocks book
Some books
Fluffy socks

I am going to wait till nearer the time but I think I'm also going to get her a remote control car and some schleich bayala figures :)

user27378 · 03/10/2020 00:31

Mine is also 4 in December. Going to get him a Kindle Fire for Christmas, I know that might be a bit young but his 7 year old sibling is getting one and it will save fighting. It will be useful if we are still locked down too.

I've got a load of stocking bits from Rex London.

For birthday and other Christmas presents I've got some of the new colour change Disney Cars, I had got him a new Orchard toys game but he found it today Hmm. I think he'd like Brio Builder construction toy, and he's really into the Barbie Mermaid movies so maybe some kind of related Barbie merchandise.

INeedNewShoes · 03/10/2020 00:36

DD will also be 3.7

Pedal bike (grandparents are getting that for her)

Between me and FC she'll be getting:

Playmobil

Djeco jigsaw

Hatley PJ's

Rucksack

Books

A brio bridge to expand the set she already has

Startaler · 03/10/2020 05:15

DGD is getting a big wooden camper van and Maileg Mice and accessories to go with it.

We have stayed away from branded toys up to now as we prefer open ended toys. But she's now at an age of princesses and unicorns so we will get a few small toys like this.

Other things I will suggest are
Olliella luggy or strolley
Orchard games
Grimms or Grapat toys
Books

Patienceisvirtuous · 03/10/2020 05:30

DS same age. We’re getting him superhero figures, a balance bike (he has a micro scooter and loves it), jigsaws, books, bath bombs, probably more play doh/kinetic sand. And some clothes.

Oysterbabe · 03/10/2020 06:48

My DD is 4 but nearly 5. I have on my list

Guitar
A marble run
Rainbow dominoes (for setting up to knock over, not playing dominoes)
Trolls lego
Sea monkeys
A Girlsworld styling head thingy
A unicorn handbag
Play makeup and jewellery
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls
Spot the difference books

Her birthday is 31st December so I need loads of stuff and I'll split it in half.

Hophop26 · 03/10/2020 07:32

I have dds similar age, does she have a scooter? Micro scooters are massive hit here and thoroughly recommend if looking for a bigger present.

Dressing up clothes are a daily appearance and very very loved by my girls. We have done dressing up rail, clothes and accessories for Christmas for one and a birthday for the other in previous years, and a lot second hand from eBay etc, they are very much the girls prized possessions Smile. Also toys/dolls/books same characters as the dressing up outfits

Lockdownseperation · 03/10/2020 07:36

My DD with be 4.5 years so far I have lots of small crafts sets (may need to dig into these if we isolate) Lego dots, Lego friends and playmobil mermaids set.

Twilightstarbright · 03/10/2020 07:46

DS will be 3.5 at Christmas. He's quite young for his age with some development delays so isn't ready for Lego/proper Playmobil. He's not really into characters either although he likes Frozen.

Marble run
Stables/farmyard to use with his schleich animals
A couple of schleich animals
Books

I'll keep an eye out for other bits, I get everything secondhand or charity shop.

He has a bike/scooter/triclimb so I'm not keen on any other big items. Trying to persuade the grandparents to buy an annual pass to the farm park or NT so we have somewhere to go.

I've tried to cut down on the amount of stuff DS gets as he gets overwhelmed with presents and doesn't play with them properly, but they lose the novelty value of being new. I hide as many presents as I can and bring them out on a wet day so he fully appreciates them.

FenellaMaxwell · 03/10/2020 07:48

Possibly a proper pedal bike - he’s an absolute speed demon on his balance bike but is very tall and at 3.7 has nearly outgrown the biggest one we could get!
Ride on tractor/JCB
He loves books, so lots of books
Toy hoover
Drum kit

gigi556 · 03/10/2020 09:19

I'm a bit of a grinch... I don't think my son needs any more toys so he's getting:
colouring books
PJs
Duvet
Possibly new bed
Will ask what he wants and maybe get one toy
He'll get stuff from relatives.

He'll be 3.5

Snailsetssail · 03/10/2020 09:24

My DS will have just turned 4 and is having some Kid Knex sets, some pj’s, a few sticker books and an orchards toys game. He already has bikes and scooters and doesn’t need a big main present this year.

onetwothreeadventure · 03/10/2020 09:30

@Startaler what brand is the camper van? I want to check out for my three year old!

onetwothreeadventure · 03/10/2020 09:41

My three year old is getting

Mangatiles
School bus (been asking for ages, something like playmobil)
Orchard giant road
Few Thomas trains and a brio station
Melissa and Doug stacker, counting toy and car wash
Alphabet and Ouch body parts jigsaw
Few sensory play things (some grapart and grimms loose parts)
Duplo

That also covers their birthday before Christmas

Dovesandkisses · 03/10/2020 11:02

My DS is the same age-
Sticker books
Little orchard games
Puzzles
Crafty bits
Vetch interactive globe
Dinosaurs
Hotwheels set
Wooden blocks
Kids kindle fire as he loves reading and listening to audio books

Rapunzelrella · 03/10/2020 21:29

Would anyone mind giving me their views on something? Our youngest will turn 4 around Xmas time. He says he wants one of those play kitchens. That's fine in theory but do you think he at the age where he will outgrow it before it gets any use, or does anyone have experience of kids still enjoying these for a good year or so more? Thanks!

Twilightstarbright · 04/10/2020 07:42

@Rapunzelrella I don't have experience but I'd be tempted to buy one secondhand and sell it on if it isn't played with a lot in a year? Or the IKEA one is meant to be great value.

micc · 04/10/2020 07:56

@repunzelrella my DD still plays with hers she got when she was 2. She also has a till she still loves to play shops with, she was 4 in July. At her school they have a pretend corner with a kitchen and she loves it. Asda do some great ones! If you have the space maybe one that has a little washing machine too :) I've seen loads of FB market place so you could always go 2nd hand :)

CoffeeandKitKat · 04/10/2020 08:14

DS will be 4.5 at Christmas. We are getting him Lego and a scooter, possibly some jigsaws.

Barms155 · 04/10/2020 20:04

My son is 4 and a bit and he plays with his kitchen. He makes pizzas then comes and delivers them!!!

EcoCustard · 04/10/2020 20:18

Dc3 is 3.5 at Christmas and is getting-
a new scooter
Hubelino marble run as she loves building stuff with her Duplo
Jelly cat soft toy
Kerplunk game
Playdoh sweet creations set
Small Lego city set
Possibly Barbie gymnast or more sylvanian bits.
Stocking with some small things in (marbles, sweets, colouring pens, colouring book, hair clip etc).
We have an Ikea kitchen which is used by the nearly 6 year old as well as younger siblings to the poster up thread asking if they will get any use.

Rapunzelrella · 04/10/2020 20:38

Thanks for the kitchen advice... will definitely look at FB marketplace options and IKEA (had completely forgotten about IKEA after getting side tracked by the Smyths catalogue!).

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/10/2020 20:38

Sylvanian families for my 4 and a half year old as her main gift

Then a mixture of jigsaw puzzles, sticker, magic painting and colouring books, craft sets and beanie babies for small presents. Also got her a children's non fiction book as she likes those

She's getting playmobil, fingerling, polly pocket, barbie and a vet set from family

Getting her younger sister schleich safari animals as her main gift (she will only be two) but know my 4 year old will enjoy playing with those too
