First board games for 3 year olds

Can anyone recommend suitable board games for a 3 year old please? We haven't got a toy shop open nearby to look in, and when I googled it was hard to see which games would be suitable as a first introduction to playing a board game.

Tummy Ache by Orchard was our favourite.

myhobbyisouting · 26/09/2020 11:34

Not really a board game as such but the Orchard games shopping trolley game went down well at that age

EskSmith · 26/09/2020 11:36

We loved this orchard spider one at that age

There was also a shopping one but I think they were a bit older for that.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate your help.

Sainsbury’s often have orchard toys games if you have one near you.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 26/09/2020 11:41

I was also going to recommend Insey Winsey spider game. My children both loved it, they are adults now so seems the game has stood the test of time!

bookmum08 · 26/09/2020 11:42

Shopping List is a classic. 12 year old won't let me get rid of it.
Anything that's a 'pairs' or matching game is good at that age.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/09/2020 21:17

Depending on whether it's a young three or older three, Junior Monopoly for the 3.5+. Comes in all sorts of themes, like Peppa Pig.
Otherwise, Orchard games. Mine loved the Cupcake one, Tummy Ache, Pizza Pizza, lunchbox, veg patch... (Some of names not quite accurate). Bus Stop good for basic addition and Subtraction.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/09/2020 21:21

Octonauts snakes and ladders was a favourite here. Both kids loved it!

RandomMess · 26/09/2020 21:41

If you can get it the Noddy roundabout game!

Also pop up pirates and looping louie.

RandomMess · 26/09/2020 21:46

We had Maisy Mouse snakes and ladders on a huge mat, they loved that too.

SC10 · 26/09/2020 21:46

I am so grateful for all your suggestions, so many good ideas here, thank you all very much.

Orchard Toys Dirty Dinos is a hit with my 3yo.
We also have the Incey Wincey Spider game but it's doesn't seem to hold his attention as much and it's a bit frustrating trying to play it with him!
Simple is best IMO.

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 26/09/2020 21:55

Anything by Orchard Toys. My 2.5 year old loves Red Dog Blue Dog. It's like a matching Bingo game.

ritzbiscuits · 26/09/2020 21:55

I would suggest Orchard Rocket game, Shopping List, Bus Stop.

Monopoly Junior may be worth a look too - we started playing that with our 4/5 year old.

riddles26 · 26/09/2020 21:55

Any of the Orchard Games as many PPs have mentioned and Jenga has also been a hit with us

RandomMess · 26/09/2020 22:22

Remembered another one Puppy Races.

MaosChaos · 26/09/2020 22:39

Hungry hippos is fun (according to my youngest niece).
Do check Orchard Games, they have some really good family games.

NameChange30 · 26/09/2020 22:42

Hungry hippos isn't a board game but DS absolutely loves it! He gets a bit too into it and tantrums if anyone else gets the last ball Confused

dylanthedragon · 26/09/2020 22:46

Orchard Games Pigs in Pants and Smelly Wellies are favourites here

Pansypath · 26/09/2020 23:20

snakes and ladders. john lewis do a lovely wooden one with ludo on the back

squirrelnutzippers · 27/09/2020 03:27

My DS loved this one from 3yo onwards: www.habausa.com/the-little-orchard-game/

CatsCatsCats11 · 27/09/2020 03:29

Wally the washer and orangutwang go down well here, plus the orchard games.

BleepingSausages · 27/09/2020 07:48

My 3 year old likes snakes and ladders, hoot hoot owl and a game which is quite similar to kerplunk, we have other games she also enjoys but I’d say those are her favourites

Thehollyandtheirony · 27/09/2020 10:39

Another vote for Orchard Toys.
Eeboo do some really nice games for this age. You can find them on Amazon or One Hundred Toys.
