I'm thinking of investing in a new tree this year and I've always thought the Balsam Hill ones look lovely.

I've searched past threads and know they require a lot of fluffing to achieve the desired look 😁.

Please can I see your Balsam Hill trees fully fluffed and decorated, and any recommendations on which model to get?

Thanks 😊

We have the 7' Grandview Fir, with warm lights. I absolutely love it. I would have gone for something bigger (fuller) but our room is quite small so this was the best option for us. It does take some fluffing (it comes with gloves!) but not much more than our previous tree and anyway it's worth it Smile

8ft not BH but we think it is plenty bushy enough and we like it! A 9ft would have fitted easily below the ceiling but it would have been very squashed into the bay as its diameter would be so much greater.

Sorry. Not much help as I’ve no photo to show yet, as we only bought our tree in the July Balsam Hill sale. We went for a 6ft Nordmann Fir prelit candlelight. We would have chosen a 7ft, but if we decide to put it in our bay window the ceiling is lower, so a 7ft would be all squishy. If we don’t put it in the bay I’ll just buy a lovely tall topper to make the tree appear taller.

We put it together - it came in three segments which just slot together really easily - to check the lights worked and are really pleased with how it looked before any fluffing.
They are on the expensive size, but I look at it as an investment. If you go for a prelit tree, then you’ll never have to faff about with lights again.

I love the European Fir and would have chosen that option as I think they look rather realistic. However, our living room (the room we wanted the tree for), isn’t massive and the European Fir looks quite wide towards the base.

The one thing I noticed is that what is described as a “slim” tree by Balsam Hill, isn’t necessarily a slim tree by British standards. We almost went for the Silverado Slim but decided to buy a Nordmann Fir as the Silverado Slim wasn’t the easy plug option.

I’m sure whatever tree you buy, once it’s decorated will look lovely.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel are all the lights on your tree ones that come 'built in' to the tree?

BitGutted · 15/09/2020 20:52

Omg just googled these just ordering now 😂

Sometimes123 · 15/09/2020 21:13

Love Balsam Hill. The first time you put it up, it'll need some 'fluffing' but I love my tree x took me ages to convince my husband to let me have one.

Oooh go for it.
I got a BH tree two years sooo. Vermont White Spruce Tree, prelit with warm white LEDs. It's stunning. We've had so many compliments and it's so realistic that guests have been surprised to find it's fake!

MoreCookiesPlease · 15/09/2020 21:16

Two years ago! Not sooo!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/09/2020 21:33

@Shmithecat2 yes there are no extra lights on it! It's great to just have one plug and not get myself tangled up in several sets of lights which is what used to happen!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 15/09/2020 23:34

We've had the pre-lit 7ft Fraser Fraser for the last two years and still absolutely love it. Money well spent in my opinion. Yes it does require a fair bit of faffing/fluffing but the quality is brilliant. I've also got one of their pre-lit garlands that I use up the stairs and just bought another garland in their sale for one of our mantles. Their autumn sale is still on I think.

That should have said Frosted Fraser Fir!

TrickyD · 16/09/2020 10:31

Realistic branch tips on our non-BH tree mentioned above. Christmas Tree World. Plus my biscuits.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel

Thanks! That's fab. I get so disappointed with pre lit trees usually, always have to add more lights to them. Looks like a BH tree for us this year! Grin

Mine is a 6ft European silver fir with clear LED lights. I love it.

@TrickyD, which Christmas tree do you have? It's beautiful.

MrsKingfisher · 16/09/2020 15:21

I don't have a photo but we have a 6ft silver fir from 2015 it's still looks beautiful it's easy to put up and put away. We paid £229 but it was worth every penny.

TrickyD · 16/09/2020 17:23

Lovely1a2b3c, it is an 8ft Woodland Pine from Christmas Tree World, far cheaper than BH, and excellent!

MrTumblePulledAKnifeOnMe · 16/09/2020 19:07

Thank you. They all look stunning 😍

We have a 7’ BH Fraser fir prelit with the white lights . It’s beautiful and much better than trees of a comparable price that you see in garden centres / John Lewis etc . We bought a 4’ alpine prelit in the July sale this year as I needed a thin tree for a sideboard in our home office .

Sometimes123 · 16/09/2020 19:50

Lovely1a2b3c mine is the narrow royal blue spruce (unlit.) I really wanted a 'full' one, but the bottom would have been too big for the room.

Sometimes123 · 16/09/2020 19:54

Just realised my picture is a bit out of focus...will use the original which is a better picture of the tree.

@MrsKingfisher
£229 is very reasonable really for that type of quality
We paid £65 last year for a real one from the local garden centre and I'm sure that will last more than 3 and a bit Christmas's plus the one we had made a right mess then we had to arrange for it to be disposed of so if you think of it like that, quite an investment 😊

It's beautiful and very realistic- I thought about buying that one last year!
Sometimes123 · 18/09/2020 23:13

29Lovely1a2b3c thank you. I love it. It was a really good price too. I worried as to if it would keep it's 'form' after being in storage for a year, but I needn't have worried. It looks lovely every year x
