Any thoughts, will it be able to go ahead?!

Why don't you contact them and ask? How would anyone on here know?

CometCupidDonnerBlitzen · 10/09/2020 09:34

No idea but I'm starting to presume it won't. I don't see how it could based on the new restrictions. Hoping there's a statement soon.

Delta1 · 10/09/2020 09:38

We have tickets so I hope so. Its a while off (early Dec for us) so hoping for the best.

JinglesWish · 10/09/2020 10:36

We’ve got tickets for early December. I’m hoping they will move the booking to next year, instead of trying to create something that may be compliant with whatever rules are in place then

Splendidseptember · 11/09/2020 14:50

Soott, what a snotty reply.

This is a chat forum, I was thinking people might chat about it as they, have 🙄.

I'm hoping something will be issued, they could find a way around it... Or put it off till next year, the fear is they will go bust and then we can't recover our money..

I think it will go ahead, they'd already planned it with distancing in mind

lotsofthingstolearn · 12/09/2020 09:45

It's a temporary event so therefore I'm hopeful that when they do the 'build' they will accomodate for social distancing. The village etc is all outside also- I'm hopeful. It maybe different and adapted but I'm hopeful (maybe too optimistically) that for an organisation of it's scale and experience they 'should' be able to manage it.

lotsofthingstolearn · 12/09/2020 09:46

*Obvs using 'hopeful' a lot

Twinklemacfinkle · 12/09/2020 16:07

We have been to lapland Uk and I rhink with very little effort or change they could make the experience socially distanced. So fingers crossed for you all.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 12/09/2020 16:09

If you paid by credit card you'll be protected. In fact, I need to follow my own advice lol.

SavoyCabbage · 12/09/2020 16:18

This is the second thread today I've been one where someone has been arsey about the question. I don't get it! Don't go on forums if you don't enjoy conversations.

Flackattack · 12/09/2020 21:26

I’m wondering if any Santa will happen / depends how things go I suppose. Couple of local places are doing train ones - if they have low numbers maybe but anywhere that squashes people in to meet the needs of the business to make money won’t.

Splendidseptember · 12/09/2020 23:16

I hope we paid by credit card!! I'm sure I did, need to double check.
They could build many extra huts to-do it but even then... Would extra people be allowed near? The ice skating for instance?

I'll ask Santa.

No really. My friend works there as Santa Grin

Delta1 · 13/09/2020 11:48

Ok that's totally ruined it for me @TheFormerPorpentinaScamander Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/09/2020 14:03

Looks like the July release has sold out so maybe they've sold fewer for each of the days and if the restrictions lessen they can add more dates , if not they have they capacity to run it safely .

I haven't been and I'm very Xmas Envy my DC are adults . I remember reading something in Good Housekeeping when it opened . Then one year we were thinking about going but didn't book (thankfully) because they had to close due to heavy snow .

I love the Huuuuge doorway that opens up into Lapland UK but that might've been the Bewel Water site ?

Fingers Crossed it goes ahead

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 13/09/2020 16:45

Got a few responses via facebook this morning followed by a worrying silence...

Asking whether it was still running given the changes today the response was:
Whilst we are currently very closely monitoring the situation, after recent government updates, we do still intend LaplandUK to be open this year.

Asking if they could confirm who will have to wear masks:
We will be following government guidance at all times. If government guidance stays the same, guests over 11 will be required to wear coverings in some inside areas of the experience.

Asking whether this applies to staff as obviously FC with a mask might ruin things a bit:
Currently, we do not expect performers to wear masks as they will be a safe distance from guests. The entire set and show has been completely redesigned (whilst keeping the same activities) to make sure guests still receive a magical experience.

My final question was "Ok thank you for the speedy replies, it’s much appreciated. If any of this changes regarding masks will we have the option to cancel with a full refund?"
They then promptly stopped replying to me. Make of that what you will. Will share again if I get any further responses.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 14/09/2020 13:47

Santa finally replied, he's clearly very busy. He said as far as he is aware it is going ahead.

It's not easy to find covid responses on their website but I searched for it and they did say, on in, change booking to 2021 and or, full refund.
They said they can build how they need to as they are a temporary theatre company and that's what they do..

So far, I'm feeling hopeful again. Lots of talk of family bubbles as well.

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 17/09/2020 10:57

I've just emailed them asking if we could possibly move to 2021 or be refunded. We booked way back in January and I certainly wouldn't have booked under the current restrictions. We'll see what happens. It's the mask wearing that's putting me off.

JinglesWish · 17/09/2020 16:51

@Marypoppinsisnosaint Please update when they reply. I don’t want to wear masks either
