Dd doesn’t want anything (actually she doesn’t NEED anything, she probably wants things 😂) I’m really stuck on what to get her.

She has a phone, tv in her room, bike. I asked if she wanted jewellery, she wasn’t bothered. Make up, she doesn’t wear often..

So far I’ve got her some new trainers and a few items of clothing in the sales but I’m stumped 🤔

What are your young teen girls asking for this year?

Does she have a phone? iPad? Laptop?

Lollypop4 · 05/09/2020 08:24

I did my DD a pamper day, booked in with the local nail technician then hair dresser for a wash and style then for a lovely afternoon tea.
The following year an overnight stay at a spa hotel with some beauty treatments ( nails - feet and hand)

sitckmansladylove · 05/09/2020 08:26

An Alexa?

Alexandernevermind · 05/09/2020 08:27

How much do you usually spend? The trainers and clothes wrapped up and a few little treats will be fine. Perhaps put the rest of what you would have spent into a junior debt card account for when she goes shopping with her friends. My children like to recieve cash so if they see things through the year they can buy them.

mmmmmchocolate · 05/09/2020 08:30

Lollipop - that sounds wonderful, I thought about some kind of experience but was put off with the Covid situation and not knowing what is going to happen. But I’ll have a look at something like that 👍

Isadora- she has phone and laptop, I don’t think she needs an iPad tbh..

I'd be inclined to wait until nearer Christmas on case she decides in a main present. For my dd last year I made a gift hamper with some chocs, candle, face masks/bubble bath, fluffy socks etc to go alongside her requested gifts (which consisted of trainers and some branded clothing) x

mmmmmchocolate · 05/09/2020 08:35

We don’t really have a budget, some years they’ve asked for a doll or a Lego set. Others, a laptop or bike. We get what they want- within reason- and hope it’ll even out over the years.

I think a debit card would be good anyway so she can always have money when she is out 👍

I’ve never even thought of an Alexa, I know you can play music, does it cost to do that though?

Ice cream maker and recipe book
Overnight bag
Lava lamp
Clip n climb gift card
Harry Potter Cluedo

mmmmmchocolate · 05/09/2020 08:39

You’re probably right Jules, usually she knows what she wants for Christmas by June!

I always get things like socks and bubble bath, it has to be done! 😂 and it makes the pile a little bigger 😉

A little trendy suitcase on wheels for sleepovers. TKMAXX do some good ones.

mmmmmchocolate · 05/09/2020 08:43

Ricekrispie- Yes! She’s very into cooking! I’ll have a look into something like an ice cream maker!

Love lava lamps too, I’ll see if I can find one to match her room 👍

DD just had AirPods for her birthday. We resisted but it was the only thing she wanted so just got those instead of a load of tat she didn’t want

onlinelinda · 05/09/2020 09:16

I think 13 year olds have a remarkable ability to realise they need something just before Christmas!

sitckmansladylove · 05/09/2020 10:31

With Alexa you can pay a small amount to play music but it works with Spotify if she has a subscription.

leafeater · 05/09/2020 10:49

This was the biggest hit for mine...

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/ultimate-ears-wonderboom-2-bluetooth-waterproof-portable-speaker/just-peach/p4193097?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/09/2020 10:53

We just got our DN a ski taster lesson at the local snowdome for her birthday. Any experiences she may like?

Londonborncatty · 05/09/2020 17:08

Alexas are great for teens and you could get a speaker like the wonder boom that she could carry round, take into the garden or bathroom etc.
Can listen to audio books as well as music.

Other than that I’m looking at waffle maker or popcorn maker.
Starbucks reusable cup and voucher.
Bedroom ‘stuff’ - new alarm clock, fluffy hot water bottle, soft throw, mood colour change lamp.
New wash bag full of bath bombs, creams, scrubs, face masks etc.
Overnight bag for sleep overs.
New phone cover, pop socket.

Londonborncatty · 05/09/2020 17:09

@leafeater snap, you beat me to it. Wonderbooms are great.

Holdingtherope · 05/09/2020 17:10

An oodie my 13 year old loves hers

leafeater · 05/09/2020 17:16

And Young Driver lessons were very popular (and useful Smile)

wizzler · 05/09/2020 21:17

I got Dd tickets to crufts for the last two years.. but who knows if that will go ahead in 2021
She loved a beauty advent calendar I bought for her...

BlowingmyJets · 05/09/2020 21:21

Alexia or Google for her room.

Mines getting camera, lava lamp, another light thing, new lamp shade, hair dryer, money for clothes... Maybe books... And lush stuff

Shieldingending · 05/09/2020 21:25

Watching with interest as mine will be 13 by Christmas with a birthday just before ! She likes stationery, bath bombs, smellies which will pad out her stocking but for a main present she'd like (expensive) trainers. She loves getting her nails painted so thinking a voucher for the local salon. She's also looking at the "oodie" mentioned by a previous poster but wow do they seem expensive!!

slightchill · 05/09/2020 21:30

Alarm clock (so they don't need their phone by their bed).
And two suggestions blatantly nicked from another thread like this on Mumsnet: Stackers jewellery box and a bat alarm

TheStarOnTheChristmasTree · 05/09/2020 21:31

I'm getting my DD (13) an instant camera, the instax mini 11.
