In the loft. My mum lives few doors down so send them down for an hour Christmas eve and hide in wardrobe til they go to bed

I hide presents to DC and DH at the back of my wardrobe. They get wrapped in December and go under the tree as soon as it is up, they don't appear on Christmas Eve.

Stocking presents I hide more carefully in a small cardboard box on a high shelf (the box lives there all year). The presents are usually quite small, so easy to hide. I wrap in a different colour for each child so it is easy to sort them into the correct stocking late on Christmas Eve.

It used to be the spare room but as that's now the new babys nursery I've been stashing under my bed and in/on top of the wardrobe x

@pussycatinboots

Again, you could have included this with your questions about Elves and Dresses. Hmm
WHO CALLED THE POLICE???
sitckmansladylove · 29/08/2020 21:05

We put them in the attic and then I will bring the dc out and about Christmas eve while dh transfers them to our car boot. So it's more discreet than the noisy attic

00100001 · 29/08/2020 21:05

We used to out in suitcases under the bed.
Then would pop them under tree just before we went to bed. Then deliver filled stocking to foot of bed.

MonaChopsis · 29/08/2020 22:16

I wrap them as they arrive and put them in the empty Xmas decorations boxes in the spare room Grin DD helps me decorate so 'knows' the boxes are empty and has never ever looked in them. Our wrapping paper is colour coded by recipient (only two of us, so it's easy to do) so on Xmas Eve it's a really quick and easy job to pop them into stocking etc.

I used to wrap them Xmas Eve, but that was very stressful, so colour coding as I go is much easier!

Justpickaname · 29/08/2020 23:52

Erm....hide Christmas presents?
Take them down after the kids are asleep? What are you lot on about....Father Christmas does it all in this house and I won't hear any different 🎅🏽

Charlottejade89 · 30/08/2020 01:16

We've got a big built in cupboard under the stairs which doesn't have a light in it, so the presents get hidden in there right at the end in the darkest corner. If the puke starts to get abit big I just use something to cover them with

Charlottejade89 · 30/08/2020 01:17

Pile, not puke haha Grin

JuiceyBetty · 30/08/2020 10:11

Ours are also hidden in our Cupboard of Doom which would never occur to DS to look in. We are not Christmas Eve wrappers, we do it the weekend before while he's at his dads so we can have a nice chilled Christmas Eve instead!

Scanner20 · 30/08/2020 10:25

Used to be the spare room covered by a sheet, then the loft and now at my parents. Love the work van idea too, we thought that would be a good place to keep after collecting them on Xmas eve. If we need to build anything then we can get the kids out a day before Xmas and build it then store in the work van too. The loft makes too much noise on Xmas eve.

hiredandsqueak · 30/08/2020 15:31

We have a spare room downstairs so they stay in there until I put them out Christmas Eve.

tiddledpink · 30/08/2020 16:28

2 large brown boxes live in our spare room year round so get topped up as and when the orders arrive.

as they have always been there DS6 has never questioned them, especially as its the room filled with all sorts of random bits that have no home.

LunaLoveFood · 30/08/2020 16:35

They either stay at dh's office until Christmas Eve when they are brought home and wrapped (we do almost all of our shopping online and get them delivered to his office) or on top of the cupboard in the utility room in empty Amazon boxes (we order a lot from Amazon and it's not unusual for empty boxes to be stored there.)

Last year they had bikes which were stored in our nextdoors garage.

BeingLonely · 30/08/2020 23:55

Ours go in the loft and are brought down a day or so before and hidden in wardrobes so it’s easier to bring down for Christmas morning

GreenPlum · 31/08/2020 00:32

Suitcase in the garage. Nice and easy to fill up stockings once kids in bed.

OnNaturesCourse · 31/08/2020 08:57

We have a massive storage / tool cupboard (which is actually in our playroom!) that is too high up for DC to open yet and will soon have a lock on it because of the tools.

Bigger items are in the attic, or at grandparents houses.

DC and I go to a Christmas Eve Service at church and DP gets everything downstairs and sorted. By the time we arrive home from Church its time for bed so it's straight the stairs. (we put out the milk, cookies etc before church... DP snacks on them as he organises!)

BiddyPop · 31/08/2020 09:51

We've had them in the wardrobe of the spare room, the top of our wardrobe (very tall), in the attic, down in the storage unit (10 minutes drive), in DMIL's house (a bike one year we would be there for Xmas), etc.

Things for other people have often just been piled onto the bed in the spare room, and wrapped when I get time. Finding places to hide DH's is far more difficult that DD's - even though she's a teen!

I tend to do my wrapping on nights when DH has social things on and I don't, once DD is in bed (or doing homework nowadays) - I just get set up on the dining table and crack on for a couple of hours at a time, with nice music on and a glass of wine to sip, concentrating first on presents that need to be posted or delivered early, before ones for local family/neighbours and our household once I am sure I am safe (sometimes that ends up being last minute on a bedroom floor....)

Mustbethewine · 31/08/2020 13:07

I keep all gifts in the boxes they're delivered in on top of the wardrobe. They can easily be stacked on top of eachother that way. In December I'll start wrapping the gifts and put them back into the delivery boxes until Christmas eve and when I know the kids are asleep I take the boxes downstairs and empty out the gifts under the tree

LadyofMisrule · 09/09/2020 23:11

Utility room downstairs for the main presents in the laundry bins. Bagged up per person. Stockings upstairs on the wardrobe. I usually pile (clean) clothes over them so the children just think the stuff in the utility is all washing. Hidden in plain sight.

ChicCroissant · 09/09/2020 23:26

I hide them in a built-in wardrobe in our bedroom, so once DD was asleep I could bring them out. The loft is too noisy (friend made that mistake) and I used to offer to hide large presents for our neighbours so occasionally got a visit from them late on Christmas Eve to retrieve a bike or similar (my mum used to do this for our neighbours).

Utility room is a good idea, DD never went in there!

Equimum · 10/09/2020 07:52

We put ours in the attic and get them down after the kids are asleep on Christmas Eve. We even did that with a 20inch wheeled bike last year!

FilthyforFirth · 10/09/2020 08:33

This year I am currently storing them all in the nursery. Baby not due until mid Nov and will not be using his room for the foreseeble.

Next year, not so sure! DS1 will be 4.5 then and prime looking age I imagine...!

Roselilly36 · 10/09/2020 08:58

I put the presents in suitcases. That beat any snoopers, they didn’t think to open them!
