Christmas events this year

I thought it might be helpful if we had a thread where people posted any Christmas events that are actually running this year. National Trust, Santa trains etc?
I think children have had a raw deal this year and I’m hoping to still have a good Christmas.

Following with interest!
Depends on region but it looks like Hever Castle is doing Christmas things and Ruxley Garden Centre is doing its usual Santa's Grotto.

ILoveGroot · 20/08/2020 19:55

Stourhead in Wiltshire (NT) is doing its festival of lights for the 2nd year. We went last year and thought it was really good.

howlathebees · 20/08/2020 19:55

Ooh following, thank you op

Annist · 20/08/2020 20:11

I think outside things like lights will happen but that's about it.

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 20/08/2020 20:11

Longleat are doing the festival of light again.

TFSRM · 20/08/2020 20:30

I thought Longleat was online this year?

Hever Castle was excellent when we went to it a few years ago. I'd also highly recommend Glow Wild at Wakehurst in Sussex which I think is on sale now.

oneofthose · 20/08/2020 20:32

Dunham Massey are doing their Christmas light display this year

Tomliboosrule · 21/08/2020 00:37

Thursford in Norfolk are doing a lights trail

AnnaMariaDreams · 21/08/2020 05:52

Anyone seen anything in Yorkshire?

OP posts:
BumpkinSpiceBatty · 21/08/2020 09:25

@TFSRM the website says it's the usual physical experience, with social distancing on the Santa train.

Floralnomad · 21/08/2020 09:26

Longleat are doing something called Land of Light as opposed to Festival of light . Bluebell railway in East Sussex are doing Steamlights , which is an illuminated steam train and are also going to be doing their Santa specials in some form . Bedgebury Pinetum have a light trail .

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 21/08/2020 09:26

I managed to get tickets for Harry potter studio tour the week before Christmas. Haven't been at that time of the year before so looking forward to seeing it in so the festive glory!

WreckTangled · 21/08/2020 09:31

I've booked Kew at Christmas. Hoping it will be allowed to go ahead as it's an outdoor thing. I don't think I would book anything indoors. If we hadn't booked that I would have done longleat.

AnnaMariaDreams · 21/08/2020 09:42

@BumpkinSpiceBatty
We did the studios tour on 20th December last year and it was brilliant! Even with masks and distancing you will love it.

I am hoping my local steam train does some festive trips- they have rolling stock with individual carriages that they are using at the moment.

Twilightstarbright · 21/08/2020 09:57

Kew are doing their illuminated event. Less tickets though.

Jemma2907 · 21/08/2020 10:01

We've booked Gullivers Land again for Santas sleepover - its a lovely experience for children 8 and under. Cheap and cheerful and children have the the best time!

minnieok · 21/08/2020 10:03

Our town has already cancelled everything, not helpful I know. I would advise working on the presumption that you need to make your own entertainments, if something does run great but don't get their hopes up. We are hoping for markets etc but who knows. The show I had tickets for has already cancelled

FilthyforFirth · 21/08/2020 10:09

Love that you started this thread, thanks OP! I am desperate for the Watercress line to do their christmas train.

My only offering is Kew, already mentioned. As its outside I am hoping low level chance of being cancelled.

Morninglatte · 21/08/2020 10:15

The Polar Express is running from North Yorkshire.
Tickets are expensive though.

Courtney555 · 21/08/2020 19:41

Nothing extra to offer, but Kew is outstanding, as is Hogwarts at Christmas at the studios.

If you haven't been, go Smile

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 21/08/2020 19:54

Kirklees steam railway Santa special

Rufford Abbey country park spectacle of light

Teacup34 · 21/08/2020 22:06

Brilliant thread OP. Thanx Whatelsecouldibecalled they are both local to me. I love Rufford Abbey! 😁

Teacup34 · 21/08/2020 22:11

Sorry, that should read that is local to me 🤔

Cherryrainbow · 21/08/2020 23:18
