Hairspray surrendering a lease isn't usually something that needs dealing with quickly by HMLR - all they'll be doing is removing the lease from the title. I've had them take from 2 weeks to 2 months.

If you're paying your solicitor a fixed fee, they probably won't chase it up much (and if you're not paying fixed fee, it'll cost you 10-20% of their hourly rate every time they chase). Personally, I'd ask the solicitor for a copy of the acknowledgement from HMLR and chase them up myself. They'll ask for either their reference or the title number, to locate the application, both of which should be on the acknowledgement.

FireflyGirl · 17/07/2020 15:43

PS - I deal with commercial property, so it could be different for residential.

WreckTangled · 17/07/2020 15:49

Hairspray at my hospital they have four private rooms at a cost of £50+ a night. With dd they gave me one for free as she was in SCBU. Ds was also in SCBU but I had to go into the ward and a postnatal physio walked up to me, gasped, and said 'where is your baby?!' Hmm

We've been to the beach this morning and are home now. It's still very warm but there's a little bit of cloud right now which is appreciated.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 17/07/2020 15:57

I was in a private room and it was definitely better than sharing but still awful. Mine was next to the midwives station so I was kept awake all night by them chatting.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2020 16:07

Hairspray, I was in for a week before DS and let out the day after the ELCS, so 8 nights in total.

DD was a 3 night stay due to having an EMCS.

Unfortunately births are unpredictable! My birth plan was: be open to all the drugs; listen to medical advice; bring a live baby home, however it happens! And I didn't write anything down, just showed up in labour and said I just wanted my baby at the end of it.

Nothing wrong with wanting to go home ASAP though. 6 hour discharge should be feasible if it's straight forward. I just don't give birth very well. 🙈😂

DD was in SCBU for a few hours too. Her release coincided with me being allowed up to the ward where I was abandoned by the midwives who forgot about me all night.

You can't have a private room after c section at our hospital, so their existence / cost was moot!

I was in a double room. First roomie was v...interesting.

V young (17 or 18), had her C-section just after me, was on her phone constantly and paid very little attention to her DC. The nurses had to come in during the night and feed/change him.

Apparently, her friend was in at the same time, and was jealous because friend's due date was first but roomie had her baby first due to needing an EMCS.

The dad came with his parents, stayed all throughout visiting hours, and absolutely doted on the baby, did all holding/feeding/changing. On the way out, DH heard his DM tell him to be sure to get a DNA test. Roomie was going to someone's house for lunch after discharge, and then was going back to the hostel where she lived. I think of them sometimes, and hope they're doing okay. I wouldn't have wanted to be going to a hostel with a newborn after a C-section!!

Second roomie was Polish, and boring by virtue of me not understanding anything they said Wink

HairsprayBabe · 17/07/2020 16:16

@fireflygirl

Thanks that's really helpful - I'm not chasing via my solicitor, as they haven't done the paperwork it's the vendors solicitors that have the reference number - can I ask them for it or will they not give me any info because I'm not their client?

Eurgh we are going to end up living under a bridge at this point 😭😭😭😭

Mrsmadevans · 17/07/2020 16:29

I am hoping Dd2 won't have to pay LTT as it i known here in Wales. I don't know how it works though tbh Grin

Fluffy it's watching someone play the 2p slots

FireflyGirl · 17/07/2020 17:56

Could be the weather, Fluffy, if it's as muggy over your way as it is here. DS and I went for a walk to the park, and by the time we got back it was so close!

Hairspray they may not give you the letter but they may give you the reference and contact number. If they say no, send an email asking them to take instruction from their client, and nicely point out you have nothing better to do now the time to chase HMLR, which they probably won't.

If all else fails, find out the title number (I can help with this if needed, it's free)and call your local branch of HMLR.

This is an actual TV programme?? I have never indulged in daytime TV, even when I was at home with DS, and I can't say this is changing my mind...

My DM apparently watches Dr Pimple Popper, while she's knitting for the DC. DDad usually hogs the TV, so she's making the most of being furloughed while he's at work (he's a postie) Grin
