Wow, I'm really impressed at how organised you are. I can't believe you've started already, I mean, it's still only September!I probably won't start thinking about it until next month.

bodiddly · 22/09/2007 19:42

I can't believe you've started a Christm\s thread already.

Really. You should warn people, you know. You take all the fun out of it.

JackieNo · 22/09/2007 19:56

So how did you start a thread? The topic isn't really live yet, is it?.

Marne · 22/09/2007 20:14

I'm trying to hold off on the xmas shopping, i have bought dd2 one little thing, i have been saving all year and can't wait to start buying. Not sure what to get dd2 (will almost be 2 at xmas) but dd1 will be easy.

I will be making food hampers for family members with local produce (as cheep as poss)

I hate xmas cards (a waist of time and card)

Flamesparrow · 22/09/2007 20:14

Oooooo, yes, the thread for me ! I have literally just bought DD's Christmas present and the remaining bit for her birthday which is the beginning of Jan.

On the bird theme I have made up a basket for my elderly neighbours who like watching/feeding the birds. Found a basket lined with some nice fabric and put in a calender, wooden peanut holder thingy, magentic note pad with birds on the front, fat balls, a seed bell, peanuts, roosting pouch. It has come to £14.50 for everything and am really pleased with it.

Got a bulk lot of small glass containers with different colour stones and gravel which the children have put in the containers in layers. They are going to stick in a hyacinth bulb soon so that it will have sprouted or whatever they do in time for Christmas and they have made some organza bow things which we'll stick on. They have come to £3.66 each.(I am really sad and can tell this from my Christmas spreadsheet, must get a life)

My Dad and partner are getting National Trust Membership - either the Scottish membership if I'm allowed to buy it in England or the English one through Quidco which gives you £20 off.

Shoshable · 22/09/2007 20:30

I am Christmas Mad, Munz will tell you she dosnt need to put lights on, Our outside ones can light hers opposite as well

We go mad all the mondees make things, Father Christmas arrives on the last day the Mindees are all in, and we have Christmas Dinner with them all.

The family come on Christams and we have it as Christmas Day.

Christamas Day till New years day, we dont answer the door and veg

UCM · 22/09/2007 20:31

Can I ask, within your ethical Xmas are you going to buy anyone a goat in a far away land so that person will think they are contributing to the far away land. They wont, they will take the piss out of you behind your back and call you names

I am liking the idea of a theme, mine will be Mattel, I think.

I have bought some stocking fillers, but as DS birthday is tomorrow I am working on that at the moment.

I want to have my stocking stuff wrapped by the end of October so I only have the big stuff to wrap.

stressteddy · 22/09/2007 20:31

I will talk about Christmas at anytime - not cos I loove it quite the opposite - which is why I am mega organised about it. I cannot stand the last minute hoo ha re. pressies etc. I'm afraid I start in the January sales and am done in October. Sorry to be a pain in the arse!!!!
Found some fab paper in Dunelm last week btw - t'was labelled at £3.50 but was actually 50p.

stressteddy · 22/09/2007 20:32

Oh, and dh and I don't ever buy gifts for each other at Christmas or Birthday so that saves a hoooge hassle!
