Kinell - shopping on Xmas eve is cheap.

I got everything half price in Aldi's lone inner London shop, with the bits that show in M&S on yellow sticker - 40 quid the lot, feeding 10 tomorrow, drink included.

salmon carpaccio
puff pastry garland with leaves

Golden Turkey stuffed with pork sage & onion
Stuffing with chestnuts and pork

tiny sausages wrapped in bacon

bread sauce
cranberry sauce

roast goose fat potatoes x 400, 000
yorkshires
parsnips in honey
peas and courgettes with mint
red cabbage in wine
baby carrots all prepped

gravy
mince pies oozing brandy butter
trifle stiff with brandy and whipped cream
another massive trifle with 100s and 1000s on it

prosecco
wine
orange juice w/bits
diet coke

Supersimkin2 · 24/12/2019 21:27

Everything is prepped and in its own tin, naturally. I did buy some unprepped carrots for show Grin

We spend around £1500 for the Christmas food shop and it feeds 5 for breakfast, 15 for canapés and Christmas dinner and 22 for evening buffet. It also ‘waters’ everyone through the day and into the evening.
Some of our nice local restaurants are offering Christmas lunch for £100 pp so our coatings seem reasonable considering where we’ve spent our money.
There will be things I buy that will be for longer than Christmas Day, eg we needed to buy another dinner service and some more champagne flutes.
I am aware it’s possible to do it far cheaper.

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2019 21:57

And lots of that was booze - spirits, fizz and kegs for the beer pumps.
Also, there’s a significant cheese board Blush

Daisydoola · 24/12/2019 22:00

I got a turkey half price in M&S, was £26 and looks great. Plus a side of smoke salmon for £2.30 rather than £15.
Very happy with that.

Mine's come up to nearly 2 grand and I seriously thought I'd be the outlier!! We really are consumerists aren't we

Retailers need the help, that’s how I see it!
