What's everyone's tipple this year? And how early do you start..I get caught up in the excitement of xmas and drink a few glasses of chardonnay a bit early! I'd like something different this year!
When do you have a drink on xmas day?
And what is the choice this year
Wine

I have a bottle of Coole Swan put aside for Christmas Day.Its like Bailys only better and can only find it in Ireland. That and white wine .

KondoKonvert · 17/12/2019 17:57

Buck's Fizz with breakfast; then a sherry around 11am. Might have a gin around 12.30pm, followed by a glass or two of champagne. White wine with Christmas dinner then red with the Pudding. Port with cheese.

TheFaerieQueene · 17/12/2019 17:58

Champagne - lots and all day 👍

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/12/2019 18:00

Bucks Fizz when opening presents
Champagne/cava with dinner
Nice gin (I've got Beerblefish Hopped Gin this year)
Lemon gin cream liqueur (tastes like lemon puffs)

confusedrn · 17/12/2019 18:08

Seaview Parma violet gin spritzer, you say? Tell me more....Xmas Grin

countdowntochristmas · 17/12/2019 18:11

Buck's Fizz with breakfast then I'll have coffee. I'll have a glass of white wine while cooking and carry on till evening may even have a glass of champagne .

QueenMabby · 17/12/2019 18:13

Champagne mid-morning and a bottle of premier-cru Chablis with lunch. Probably not much else - we’re not big drinkers on my side of the family and my db doesn’t drink at all. Maybe a g&t in the evening. DH and my DF will probably have a whisky in the evening.

DartmoorChef · 17/12/2019 18:36

Actually, I've just had to buy a bottle of cinnamon jack danieks to make fireball fudge for a client, so I will probably drink the rest of that.

BiddyPop · 17/12/2019 18:41

Some Prosecco mid afternoon while turkey cooks and we open presents. Or a good G&T. Or open the dinner wine.

I’ve got a nice Riesling for dinner.

We may have a glass of port with cheese.

Some years I have a glass of muscadet with pudding (the only time I drink it).

Bansku19 · 17/12/2019 18:42

Beer, Prosecco, Wine and baileys in that order. Not loads of each though.

00deed1988 · 17/12/2019 19:02

Tea...lots of tea. Working a 12 hour shift on a maternity ward!

But usually it's bucks fizz while getting dinner ready, prosecco with dinner and southern comfort and lemonade later on. It's one of my favourites but don't have it often. Usually save it for this time of year!

roiseandjim · 17/12/2019 19:04

Prosecco to start, red wine with dinner, maybe some white then GnTs

SlatternIsTrying · 17/12/2019 19:06

Bucks Fizz in the morning
Champagne pre dinner
Wine with dinner
Somewhere a vodka and Diet Coke or gin and tonic

solomonsfish85 · 17/12/2019 19:10

Wow! Lots of recommendations!
That was my problem last year I peaked too early! I got a bit too merry getting dinner sorted Xmas Wink
With all these suggestions to try I'll be asleep by 10 Xmas Grin

Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry is cracked open as soon as I start prepping dinner ( so around 10 am) then it's Prosecco with dinner and rest of evening

Kissmyaxe · 17/12/2019 19:35

Tea / my favourite coffee / AF Bucks Fizz in the morning the AF G & T / Becks Blue during the afternoon. Hot choc in the evening. This is my first sober Christmas and I’m so excited for it! Xx

SoMuchToBits · 17/12/2019 19:37

Tea and water until about 8pm, as I will be at work all day. When I get home, hopefully a nice glass of bubbly!

Span1elsRock · 17/12/2019 19:42

Very strong coffee all morning, then Bucks Fizz, decent wine with lunch and gin/tonic for the rest of the day.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/12/2019 19:44

We will have Ridgeview English sparkling wine during the day and Whitby gin in the evening.

Only one day off so I won't drink too much.

Natsku · 17/12/2019 19:52

Red wine and sherry. Maybe a glass of port after dinner. Wondering whether to have bucks fizz with breakfast but it probably would just make me sleepy the rest of the day. And a beer after sauna, of course.

73kittycat73 · 17/12/2019 19:53

Have found some mocktails in Morrisons. Haven't tried them before but will be having them, and Shloer.

Ihavenopatienceforthis · 17/12/2019 19:53

Reading this I clearly done drink enough on Christmas Day 😂
Will start with numerous cups of coffee. Open a bottle of champagne with lunch. Follow with more coffee then a bottle of wine or gin and tonic depending which I fancy at night

reluctantbrit · 17/12/2019 19:58

Champagne at Christmas Eve, as Germans this is our main part.

Christmas Day wine for lunch, I normally start during cooking. Maybe a port with dessert.

Wine with dinner and port afterwards.

Babyg1995 · 17/12/2019 20:00

Tea and appletizer im 6 months pregnant.but usually it's bucks fizz around 1 then white wine with dinner then vodka or gin after dessert.

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/12/2019 21:40

We are going to SILs for Christmas dinner and I will most likely drive so it will be fentimans traditional lemonade (if I can get it) or sanpellagrino or diet coke.

When I get home, I will indulge in a nice gin (usually Bombay sapphire) and tonic.

I used to really love prosecco but I seem to have become a lightweight with that lately and it really goes to my head!
