What’s on the top of your tree?

Our lovely old metal angel has sadly been decapitated and disarmed in storage.

I’ve been looking for a new angel but they just look like fairies - or rather tacky plastic dolls.

Has anyone found a nice ‘angelic’ one?

this one is a little more traditional.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/12/2019 19:39

Yes that’s definitely more ‘angelic’! I have discovered a lovely old glass one (just one wing reattached) but I’m a bit wary of perching him on the top of the tree (with my track record of breaking these things).

A scrum cap. Last year it was a boxing glove. Not very traditional though...

A fairy. Made by my beloved and much-missed Grandmother many years ago.

A gold Xmas bell, its been in our family years so it's special.
Not the traditional on top of the tree but means something to me.

It's the bell my mum used to make my dad go out in the garden and ring while she was bathing us, then there would be a big rush to get to bed because santa was coming...

I'm Sure it was probably just so she got the evening in peace but still... Special memories!

An Angel on a Star - one of my DC made the Angel years ago & another made the Star; we stuck them together. We always had an Angel on a Star when I was a growing up - my mum still uses it.

I've got a Mickey mouse topper, it's so cute, my five year old was thrilled when she saw it!

A golden star, to represent the star of Bethlehem. And below it we have some olive wood carved tree decorations that DH's aunt brought back from Bethlehem when she visited.

Bouledeneige · 16/12/2019 23:33

We have a llama tied on with gold tinsel! It makes us smile.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/12/2019 00:01

When we were kids (and teens, then in our 20s) we used to tie a rag doll to the top of the tree. Mum was only little and couldn’t reach it (it was a 10 foot tree) and she would pretend to be annoyed but was amused really - her huge, beautifully and carefully decorated tree - with a daft doll tied to the top with tinsel.

I usually ended up on Christmas Day with one of the decorations tying up my hair - I ended up wearing one of them in my hair at dads funeral.

This is our angel. I don't know about this exact one but Gisela Graham do lovely angels and fairies as tree toppers (mine isn't GG but similar)
