Just that really, we are a bit skint and it’s something that would never have been on my radar and would have been so happy and shocked to wake up to on Christmas morning and not only have I ruined the surprise for myself but am going to have to tell him that I have seen it as have opened the packaging...

Genuinely wondering if I can blame it on the dog!! Blush

"Is it a diamond necklace or a Joni Mitchell CD? "

Best answer!

Ask your neighbor to give him it and tell him they opened it accidentally when it was wrongly delivered to them?

Why would you “not be expecting anything”? It’s Christmas. Presumably you’ve bought presents for him, the kids, your family, his family etc, so why on earth would you blithely accept that he wouldn’t buy you anything?

Just tell him the truth. What's the difference of a couple of weeks it's not like you are 7 years old.

Ginger she said her DH is always last minute...like mine...mine goes out on Christmas eve to the actual shops.

@3littlemincemeatpies Just to clarify (again) the present DH ordered was not from Amazon, I just presumed it was as I have done all the Christmas shopping and some of the Amazon purchases from independent sellers haven’t always been in Amazon packaging.

But still, go on to his amazon account and add another delivery address, that’s the same obviously but with your name at the top, that way when YOU order stuff, you click on your named address and he clicks in his!
Also, independent sellers on amazon still use the address you select at the checkout Confused

Is it a diamond necklace or a Joni Mitchell CD?

Oh, that is one of the saddest scenes in any film I've seen. Emma Thompson is a-may-zing.

OP I work for a courier company and I'm pretty sure that bag is one of ours - if you want me to I'm happy to send you a replacement bag so he doesn't find out!

(Regular poster who's NC'd, not a random rep from the company!)

I don’t think it’s that difficult to understand @gingersausage I never said we didn’t exchange gifts or that he wouldn’t get me anything, without sounding uncouth I was surprised that he had spent that much on me!

Thanks for the help Venus, it’s the first time I have heard that on this thread! 🙄😬

iwanttobeagranny that may just be the most sensible obvious thing I’ve read on mn for ages. Genius. Look at us all going round the houses with complex (and ingenious I might add) solutions.

Just in passing, do you not ever point out things that you think are nice to your OH?

Not really, better things to chat about. It’s only ever done during Christmas present buying season.

tillytrotter1 · 10/12/2019 20:41

Sounds a bit like my situation, OH never usually used Amazon and when he logs on gets onto my account rather than his, so part of my present is sitting in my basket! Luckily, it's the predictable thing.

Am I missing something? That box you posted a picture of us way too big to contain something sparkly?

Maybe, don’t open post that’s not addressed to you? You’ll have to come clean now surely?

I just love that you opened it before Christmas. Your childlike excitement is still strong into adulthood - see it as a strength. Come clean with him on xmas day and he will love you more than ever.

Are you friendly with a neighbor? Ask them them to drop it over when he will open the front door, say it was delivered to their house by mistake and they opened it

I really hope it doesn’t turn into a love actually moment. Is that the right film? Where she opens the lovely necklace he’s bought for someone else without him realising but gets a CD on the day?

Report
Blacksheepcat · 11/12/2019 08:24

@3littlemincemeatpies I had RTFT. If you usually order something using your DH’s Amazon account, you can still get it delivered to you (with your name) you don’t need to have it addressed to him?
You should not open mail addressed to someone else.
