Board game for 3.5 year old

Hi

My parents want to buy board games for my children this Christmas. Budget of £25 each.

I've got good suggestions for the 9 and 7 year olds, but really struggling for an idea for 3.5yo DS.

Any suggestions much appreciated. I wondered about buckaroo? But not sure he'd be able to reset it himself.

What about picture dominoes?

Greedytiger · 17/11/2019 20:32

My just 3 year old loves snakes and ladders at the minute.

cheeseandcrackers · 17/11/2019 20:33

DS 3.5 loves mouse trap, junior monopoly, lots of brilliant Orchard Toys games (gingerbread man is good for whole family) or even trivial pursuit (we make up easy questions for the youngest, kids and adult questions in the box for the rest of the family)

Throughabushbackwards · 17/11/2019 20:33

Hungry hippos and connect 4 are a hit with our 3yo.

Samsamsuperman · 17/11/2019 20:34

Shake it off, hungry hippos, pop up pirate, buckeroo, kerplunk.
You could help them reset it? It'd need at least 2 to play anyway.

mulky · 17/11/2019 20:35

Crazy Chef or Lunchbox from orchard toys are lovely.

ritzbiscuits · 17/11/2019 20:36

Junior monopoly.

Solihooley · 17/11/2019 20:37

There’s one called the sneaky snacky squirrel game that’s amazing. Helps them develop lots of skills and it’s provided us (well, the kids) with hours of fun.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 17/11/2019 20:38

Hungry hippos
Snakes and ladders, there is a 3d version which is going to be under our tree this year
Junior monopoly is a bit hit, we played that today
Buckaroo is hit and miss, he enjoys it but gets bored quickly with it because he has to keep resetting it
I am going to buy operation for my eldest (5.5) but suspect this will go down well with the 3.5 year old too

PushkinTheCat · 17/11/2019 20:39

Pop Up Pirate and the Orchard Toys Bus Lotto game are hits in our house.

LL83 · 17/11/2019 20:39

Crocodile dentist. Really quick and easy to pick up. Older ones will like it too.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 17/11/2019 20:40

Oh yes and connect four, although his version of the rules are a bit off but he loves it Grin

palindromeam · 17/11/2019 20:41

Orchard toys Where's my cupcake, 1 banana 2 banana; spotty dog, ladybirds, shopping list and tummy ache were all favourites here at about age.

Tobebythesea · 17/11/2019 20:42

Orchard Toys Cake Monster and ladybird games are the most popular in our house.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 17/11/2019 20:45

Orchard Toys Tummy Ache was DD's favourite at that age, and I quite like it as well.

WaddIelikeapenguin · 17/11/2019 20:49

As PP said sneaky snacky squirrel game is fab.
Haba animal on animal is great too

Haba orchard (not to be confused with the games company orchard) is the hands down winner though - cooperative game beautifully made.

Or they could all play sleeping queens together (wee one puts their number cards face up so someone can help with the sums)

SingingSea · 17/11/2019 20:50

My nearly 3 yr old loves pop up pirate and those fishing games.

Buckaroo - I’m not sure if we’ve got a faulty one, but our one is so sensitive that we can barely get one thing on the horse before it gets triggered and has to be reset. My older DC find that game too frustrating for me to have dared try it with the nearly 3 yr old DC yet.

BouquetOfRoses · 17/11/2019 20:52

Hungry Hippos
Pop up Pirate

RandomMess · 17/11/2019 20:53

Noddy roundabout game

RandomMess · 17/11/2019 20:55

Oops

Noddy Merry go round game

Was brilliant!!

They loved a giant snakes and ladder game too.

fitterhappierhealthier · 17/11/2019 21:12

Hungry Hippos is fun and we also like the Room on The Broom Board Game.

As PP have said the Orchard ones are good, Cake Monster and Three Little Pigs in particular.

My DC also love the fishing game (no idea what it's called?) where the fish go round and round opening and closing their mouths and you have to catch them with the rods... although not strictly a board game :)

Luckyleprechaun80 · 17/11/2019 22:20

Eye Found it

Sewbean · 17/11/2019 22:21

Do Orchard Toys still do Red Dog Blue Dog? That was a favourite in our house for years, it's a bingo sort of game.

Equimum · 18/11/2019 07:56

Mine have both lived Buckaroo at that age, but we have helped reset it.

Other popular games include:
Anything Orchard toys
Pop-up pirate
ELC bee tumble game
ELC monkey balance game
Shark Chase
