Can we have a men’s gifts thread

There are often threads asking for ideas for specific men and I’ve often picked up a good idea from them. I thought it might be useful to have a general one to share ideas of what we’re buying, hits and misses of previous years.
So far...
dh is getting clothes, new belt (sounds dull but he’s very particular and it took me a while to track down the exact one so he’ll appreciate the effort, and his current one is looking worn), a magnetic wristband (so I don’t have to hunt for missing screws) and Bluetooth earphones
Df will be getting sports dvds
Dfil is getting a weatherstick and toffee that you break with a hammer and possibly a wireless bird box or a trip on a steam train/canal boat (still thinking about this)

I’ve had success in previous years with grid it for both men and women, and with thin optics tiny reading glasses. Though it took a bit of convincing to give them a go, both dh and fil love them.

Sugru went down like a lead balloon here though it gets recommended a lot, and I’d quite like some myself.

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I think some work off mains and some are wireless. I too am a technophobe so have handed the task of selecting the right one to DSonIL. I'm not too worried but DH is VERY good at diy etc and we do have mains electricity in the garden on account of hot tub/tree lights etc. Sorry, I know I'm not being helpful!

What's the best coffee machine for a coffee snob who is in fact too snobby for a Nespresso or similar?
Bonus points if it's just a tin forged by dwarves that only works for the pure of heart

that was very helpful actually. Have just messaged electrician to see if we could get mains electricity in the garden and will go from there-think that will be easiest and useful for other things.

@7days I have tried several coffee machines and I find a moka pot best. I always go back it. I have now used them twenty years.

A lot of coffee purists would say the AeroPress is the only way to make coffee. Don't have one myself but many coffee-fanatical friends do.

This year he is getting (at his own request) the Lego NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Land Module. He loved the Saturn V rocket I got him a couple of years ago.

It in place and download mp3 onto it. I listen to podcasts whilst swimming.

@5foot5 Lunar lander was one possible present for dh. I found something else but I keep eyes open in Black Friday. I will get that set for him but I don't know when. For his birthday in February he is going to get Star Wars Lego.

This year dh is getting vintage Star Wars chess set, Tigi totally bleaching shampoo&conditioner and Star Wars speaker. (He is a Star Wars fan).

I second the aeropress - I dithered for ages and now won't go back! If you're buying for a coffee snob you can't go wrong with an aeropress and a bag of good ground beans!

Aeropress is really good. You do have to order more filter papers periodically but it makes great coffee.

Can I ask what is possibly a stupid question: why do people want lock picking kits, other than the obvious, illegal, uses?

I’m hoping it’s more for locking yourself out or helping friends who have done the same. Locksmiths are so expensive and they come along and open a doer in a couple of seconds. Padlocks or bike locks that you’ve lost the keys for. Personally, my family and I would use it a lot!
