Best Playmobil for 3 YO

BeanBag7 · 14/09/2019 08:40

My daughter will be nearly 3 at Christmas and I think playmobil will be the perfect toy for her as she loves imaginative play and small world.
I had a playmobil dolls house at her age (which I played with until I was about 12!) And my parents are planning to refurbish it for her for christmas which is lovely.

I would like to get her some other playmobil to go with it but there are so many different ones I cant choose! So I'm looking for recommendations - which sets were played with the most or had the most pieces for the money. She loves animals, babies, trains and camping.

the campervan is very good but has some tiny pieces (knives/forks etc). she also has the little tent set too which we got very cheap which is cute.

my dd loves the swimming pool as you put water inside for the characters.

the little themed cases are good as you can take them out and about - dd had a unicorn one and jungle one. think Argos normally has them on 2 for £15.

if you aren't worried about second hand you can get some v good bargains - I've got dd2 the big zoo with loads of animals for £20. I will set it all up then wrap it so lack of packaging won't matter :)

The camper van is very good, you could always take out the smallest bits. The ice cream shop is also fun

This. The Stables was the first set ds got at almost 3 and that's had a lot of play as well.

Macmaccat · 14/09/2019 11:19

We have the camper van which is very pupae. My kids also live the Airport, taxi and plane. My 3 year old daughter loves playing with her brothers helicopter. It’s a fire and rescue one. She likes to hook things on the rescue rope

Stompythedinosaur · 14/09/2019 11:20

I would go for the farm or the vets, both were popular with my two.

Ricekrispie22 · 14/09/2019 15:12

The zoo is one of the most popular sets but it’s also one of the most expensive

We’ve got it and think it’s worth it. We’ve also added onto it with the aquarium and the penguin enclosure.

My Dd played with the nursery school and playground sets for ages www.argos.co.uk/product/3811210

And the hospital and ambulance have been a hit too www.argos.co.uk/product/7373541 but possibly not such a good set for a 3yo www.johnlewis.com/playmobil-city-life-6657-furnished-children's-hospital/p3523195

FlaviaAlbia · 14/09/2019 15:22

Both mine love the tent set, DS1 has played with it consistently since he was 2 and he's nearly 6 now.

BeanBag7 · 14/09/2019 16:18

Thanks all, camper van sounds like a great idea and I will try and find carry sets :)

Have you seen the playground set? I love it (the kids do too Grin) aand it might go quite well with the house. I also love the ambulance, but mainly so I can put all the little bits in the right places - the kids aren't too bothered!

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 14/09/2019 21:48

My dds are 7 and 9 and have had playmobil since around 3, it's awesome. They aren't that interested in the campervan, they love the swimming pool, but best of all they love the fairy/unicorn sets. We got a forest animals advent calendar one year and they spend forever setting up scenes and playing with the forest animals and their fairies- there are some fab sets. We do have some fish/boats/sea creatures that live in the bath that get played with too.

MoltoAgitato · 14/09/2019 21:52

Don’t rule out the Playmobil 123 range - my DC found it much easier to play with than “proper” playmobil at that age. The big stuff has loads of really fiddly pieces which can be frustrating. They are older now and happily mix and match the 123 stuff with the normal stuff. The 123 dolls house (with flushing toilet) and bus were big hits,as was the take along cruise ship.

Christobel51 · 14/09/2019 21:52

It love Playmobil and so do my children! They do some lovely Christmas sets, which we enjoy getting out and playing with in December and I've added to over the years with a set of Wise Men and some extra sheep!

Chilledout11 · 14/09/2019 21:54

Noahs ark is lovely

Tolleshunt · 14/09/2019 22:03

Tha aquarium is fabulous. Be prepared for a lot of water to be splashed around, though!

widget2015 · 14/09/2019 22:07

Pirate ship is a big hit here (still going strong after 5 years) and the farm. The carry dolls house is also great.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 14/09/2019 22:11

The carry dolls house is also great.

Good. It accidently fell into my last Amazon order. I really want the Noah's ark though.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/09/2019 22:16

You should get one of the Christmas advent calendars. My DSis's still gets set up at home every year and often gets re-arranged.

BeanBag7 · 14/09/2019 22:35

I was thinking about the advent calendar but I dont like any of the themes. Santa's workshop would not be great because she doesnt really know about Santa and I dont really agree with the "elves make the toys" thing. Christmas ball is too twirly girly for me. So it would have to be the horse farm which isn't very christmassy,

I see what you mean — you could do with a Christmas fairground or something. It would have been a nice lead up to it, that's all,

We liked the school and the hospital best (although that has some tiny parts, so maybe not quite yet). I remember playing a lot with the showjumping ones too.

I think at three we might actually have had Duplo rather than playmobil.

highheelsandbobblehats · 15/09/2019 00:54

Another vote for the camper van here. It's still beloved in my house.

We have the fire station, fire engine, the entire police TV advert (station, police van, helicopter, baddie on quad bike etc), the pyramid (which is awesome), pirate ship and a dinosaur set that came with a boat like they use in the Florida Everglades.

We got all the police things for DS2 two Christmases ago. He saw the advert and wanted it all so we themed it when family asked us what he wanted. We bought the big ticket item, the station, one grandparent set bought the helicopter, the other the van etc. Plenty at varying price ranges. We got him the police advent calendar that year so it all tied in.

My friend has the farm and the hotel. The hotel is incredible, but she would recommend building it before the day as it took them 4 hours on Christmas Day. I did this for the police station and am so glad I did.

highheelsandbobblehats · 15/09/2019 00:56

Oh, we have knights and kings and a bloody enormous jet too.

It all gets played with regularly.

Toomanycats99 · 15/09/2019 07:16

Camper van, swimming pool and carry along dolls house were the big hits here.

We made our own advent calendar. I got the nativity sets and split them out by day. It meant you had a proper played with set rather than lots of random small bits. That's the one it we have left as she won't let me sell it yet.

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 16/09/2019 21:57

The noahs ark set is down to 39.99 in the entertainer, huge box! Looks amazing.

Have you looked st the playmobil 123 advent calendars, they have a woodlands animals theme with Santa and a girl. My dds was the 123 range and when she got the older stuff the 123 animals are the mum's and dad's and the normal range are the babies, it's pretty sweet

scrivette · 16/09/2019 22:20

The paddling pool is great, as is the ice cream van.

My DS has played with it since he was about 2 and loves the cars.

The boats have been good for the bath too.

BeanBag7 · 17/09/2019 18:24

Thanks the 123 advent calendar looks ideal actually!
