Anything LOL related - Must have spent £400 on them

Blind Bags - Get Lost. They online like the excitement of opening them.

Cheap £1 jewellery brackets purses etc just to bulk up their sacks

Soft Toys

Fads. Polly Pockets. Fingerlings Rainbocorns - don't get played with

Slime - sick to death of it

Slime. It’s banned in my house

Likewise for putty

Anything toy related for the middle one. She just doesn’t play with it

princessbear80 · 12/08/2019 19:06

Will not be buying 20 different presents for each stocking! 5 or 6 plus a satsuma and some chocolate coins will do.

LoonyLunaLoo · 12/08/2019 19:08

Anything big! We’re going to Australia for Christmas...
Agree with slime, we’ll be staying at our friends’ house...

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 12/08/2019 19:18

Kinetic sand- easy to clean! my arse!!!!!! Not when my 2 year old has trampled it into the stairs it isn’t!!!!

Soubriquet · 12/08/2019 19:20

Ditto to slime and lol related items (for my dd anyway. For myself...maybe Grin)

I spent a fortune on LOL stuff for her and sold it all a few weeks ago.

I definitely won’t be buying this stupid booty shaking llama

In fact with dd, even though she’s 6,
I won’t be buying her many toys at all as she just isn’t interested

For ds...not sure. I want to say I won’t be buying him the £100 electronic bat man car but..

DeadButDelicious · 12/08/2019 19:25

Soft toys.

Though I keep on saying this and they just keep on appearing. And I'm buying some of them, I must be. I'm worse than DD. I blame the Disney shop. It's all too cute. Grin

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 12/08/2019 19:28

Lego advents sadly they didn’t bother opening them in the end. However they did receive four advents each, which was far to much.

SuzieQ10 · 12/08/2019 19:31

Anything 'surprise' wrapped in a million layers of plastic. Never get played with for more than 5 mins & cost a lot. I'll make my own surprises 😂

Youngandfree · 12/08/2019 19:36

Lol stuff
Slime/putty/ kinetic sand
Soft toys
Anything that has a screen
Anything with unicorns or llamas

StandardLampski · 12/08/2019 20:59

Bath crayons. To be fair Santa brings those 😁. I wouldn't because they stain the bath orange. That's three years in a row now and I'm getting annoyed with him...

WarmthAndDepth · 12/08/2019 21:36

No plastic anything this year. Or synthetic fibres such as soft toys. We did quite a few second hand gifts last year, and they went down well (a tablet, a camera, clothing, a guitar, board game, books). But we'd had a chat about the unbridled consumption of Christmas some time in November, giving me time to wait for pre-loved examples of the things they wanted to come up on eBay and local FB selling group.

Abouttime1978 · 12/08/2019 22:46

Toys!

Three kids and about s million toys - most of which never see the light of day.

I've been ruthlessly clearing out with the kids today - was like pulling teeth but finally making progress.

Kids can have ONE toy for Christmas and then things they need and vouchers for experiences/books/sweets.

No more plastic tat that never gets played with

Isadora2007 · 12/08/2019 23:44

A puppy.

EmpressJewel · 13/08/2019 21:41

Craft items or anything with lots of small bits (doesn't get played with and gets lost).

Slime - gets mashed into carpets and difficult to clean off.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/08/2019 17:20

Plastic tat stocking fillers
Bigger presents that aren't on the list (looking at you Harry Potter coding wand)
Chocolate coins - always get forgotten about and thrown out when rediscovered
Board game (though I probably will)
Craft stuff
Any toy that isn't Harry Potter Lego
Another fleece blanket
Selection boxes (but I say this every year and then relent)

UndertheCedartree · 17/08/2019 23:11

No slime!
Agree on blind bags.
They really don't need any more cuddlies but I've already got them Ty narwhals!
No more Christmas books, activity books or dvds - we have loads!
No last minute extras.
No chocolate for the sake of it i.e just because it is shaped as a reindeer. They had so much chocolate at Easter I had to throw some away!

louise5754 · 18/08/2019 18:35

I'm sad to say but I don't think I'll buy them an advent calendar other than the usual chocolate one, do the book advent thing or the elves. They are only 7 and 9 but they just aren't interested.

OP posts:
riotlady · 18/08/2019 18:39

Cuddly toys! My FIL brings one every other time he visits and she’s not interested

sadandtired01 · 20/08/2019 09:03

Slime . It’s banned

Buddyelf · 20/08/2019 11:47

I'm sad to say but I don't think I'll buy them an advent calendar other than the usual chocolate one, do the book advent thing or the elves.

Same - we only ever do the chocolate advent calendars and they are happy enough with them. I don't do the book thing either, they have so many already and the Elf on the Shelf thing - big fat nope. I do not have the time to figure out 25 different ways for that thing to be naughty!

I will not be buying the LOL camper
Slime
Play doh (the waste is ridiculous)
Soft toys

Mrsfussypants1 · 20/08/2019 19:11

Heaps of toys, Less is more this year! Will be choosing wisely what I buy our granddaughter, choosing things that will grow with her and be played with for a good few years to come and then past on. Definitely wont be buying anything furreal (chubby bear), juno the elephant, boppi or any electronic overpriced one trick pony. Also not doing Christmas eve boxes this year, it will be a pair of new pjs, a bath bomb and some sort of activity.

louise5754 · 20/08/2019 20:23

I feel sad as my youngest is only 7. They are just not interested in toys. They want everything but then don't bother. I could look through the smyths catalogue and point to at least 2/3 items on every page that they have (on the girls/outdoor and game pages).

Hadenoughofitall441 · 20/08/2019 22:28

Slime and play doh that shit gets everywhere 😩

whathappenedtojoosters · 21/08/2019 07:35

This year I'm trying to resist bulking up piles of presents with cheap junk. I say that every year and I'm definitely getting better at it but this year I'm serious!
I won't be buying:
Slime
Fad toys such as lol dolls, hatchimals etc as they just don't get played with.
Playmobil- I love the idea of it but it doesn't get used much in our house either and we've got lots already.
Loads of Christmas themed chocolate
Bulky plastic junk that takes up space
Big stuffed toys

I will be buying:
LEGO
Quality crafty stuff and art materials
Smaller amounts of their favourite sweets rather than a load of any old Christmas themed stuff
Books
Ty beanie boos because they are loved and played with a lot here

louise5754 · 21/08/2019 20:26

@whathappenedtojoosters I agree with all of that.
