Anything LOL related - Must have spent £400 on them

Blind Bags - Get Lost. They online like the excitement of opening them.

Cheap £1 jewellery brackets purses etc just to bulk up their sacks

Soft Toys

Fads. Polly Pockets. Fingerlings Rainbocorns - don't get played with

Slime - sick to death of it

In a word “plastic”

ysmaem · 31/08/2019 15:07

Slime!

banskuwansku · 31/08/2019 15:27

No Xbox, play station etc. They don't have them and are not going to get yet. They are 7&9.

SalrycLuxx · 31/08/2019 15:41

No LOL or sand. Slime doesn’t get bought anyway.

No plastic either.

Stockings will be: satsumas, chocolate Santas, story or puzzle, candy cane, small toy.

Main presents will be tickets for shows or experiences, clothing and another small toy.

My girls have everything they could ever need, frankly.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/08/2019 16:08

Any toys/games with 'bits', some of which will inevitably get lost.
As Gdd told me recently, 'This is a 'losing' house, Granny.'
Out of the mouths of babes - she is 4.

CamdenTownie · 31/08/2019 16:32

I'm not buying a sausage dog, Segway and deffo no slime. Dd2 is my youngest and will be 12 at Christmas, she has followed every single fad since loom bands and I'm just not doing it anymore!!

I'm buying trainers for all of my kids(I have 4) and probably some clothes if I can find out what they like, plus a Xbox game for ds2 and a handbag for dd1. Ds1 likes cash lol and dd2 will probably get AirPods- I'm also thinking of less is more and buying fewer better gifts rather than tons of unwanted junk!

I like the idea of new pjs and a bath bomb for Christmas Eve, I might get some of those hot chocolate spoons too or drinking fudge.

didireallysaythat · 31/08/2019 16:37

Christmas Eve boxes
1st of December boxes
Plastic tat for stockings
Advent calendars (chocolate or otherwise)
Hot chocolate

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 31/08/2019 16:39

Too much stuff.

I might get some Playmobil if anyone has a suggestion where to start that would be good.

Symptomless · 31/08/2019 16:42

"filler" presents. Nobody wants them or even likes opening them.

mamaraah · 31/08/2019 17:04

Glitter- I've banned it

Computer games and consoles- ridiculous money

Chocolate/ sweets- we have enough boxes around the holidays anyway

Wrapping paper ( not a gift but on the gifts) waste of money and it all gets dumped anyway.

Slime/ putty- sn dd1 puts it in her hair

Noisy toys- too noisy 😆

mamaraah · 31/08/2019 17:06

We don't have a tv so thankfully I don't have as mush pester power as a lot of parents do for particular brands / products.

No tv is another reason not to get a console 😆

Also, they won't be getting phones or iPad type devices .

Thatnovembernight · 31/08/2019 17:12

Purses
Notepads (bought 2 already gah. But no more)
Lip balms
Necklaces and bracelets
Cars
Big plastic toys
Toys that are supposed to ‘do’ things as they always seem to break within days

Am aiming more for Lego as both kids love it and also both love the ruinously expensive bath bombs from Lush. But at least they don’t clutter up the house forever! Will definitely be trying to be more thoughtful this year and trying to limit ‘stuff’ for its own sake.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/08/2019 18:21

"Cards Against Humanity" my DS is nearly 20 and point blank refuses to play a nice card game with my Muvver though he took it away to play with mates .
(I would only Pearl Clutch a tiny bit ..Xmas Blush )

Any male grooming that is out of his very basic needs . He had a load of product already .

DD really doesn't need another bloody phone case , her iPhone changes its cover as often as I change my pants .

Chocolate isn't an issue , they eat some , put it in the cupboard then after a while any left gets melted to make ice-cream sauce .

CamdenTownie · 01/09/2019 08:42

after reading through I have to agree with phone cases, male toiletries and lip balms!

I buy all of this every single year and it never gets used.

BillywilliamV · 01/09/2019 08:43

Polly Pocket is hardly a fad, we had the cruise ship 10 years ago.

Atlasta · 01/09/2019 08:53

No slime, hair chalks, beady, fidly make your own jewellery sets, orbeez, scented pens, pencil cases, fancy water bottles and things encrusted with diamonds or gems.
No small ( miniscule) collectable figures at five pounds a pop to put in DS mouth for him to nearly choke on, or go up my hoover. No fads. No stationary ( never used)

Cherryrainbow · 01/09/2019 22:28

No more action figures with fiddly tiny accessories as they always go missing and we have random bits and bobs of different sets everywhere.

Mrsmiddle · 01/09/2019 22:45

Completely agree with the no fad stuff. NO make your own anything, just don't get used unless forced. No lip balm 100%and also for this year, no 'special' outfit. It's a tradition I had growing up and now do, however the special beautiful dresses seem to fit for a couple of years and never get worn again! So not this year and no makeup! Again, never gets used or at least used up.

Its it odd that I’m finding this thread fascinating even though I don’t have dc and there aren’t any dc in my near family?
