New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

Two weeks?!?! Jesus, what are they playing at, Mrs? They seriously can't expect your mum to pay for that length of time. What is the problem that is apparently so hard to fix? I'm furious on your mum's behalf.

I hope DD2's interview went well. 🍀

Physio was good. I'm onto weights and strengthening now, so that's positive. I'm back in 2 weeks to see how it's going.

Fluffy glad your physio went well, Well done for sticking with it Flowers .
The water is tricky because of the various pipes they have to avoid and it takes them so long to get here , so and so is on A/L , then there is the bank holidays , well you know l thought that bank holidays only took one day but it seems they disrupt WW for the whole week Hmm
l shouldn't worry about Mum, she is basking in the attention of the assorted workmen/ppl. Hmm Loving the sympathy of the 'poor you just lost your DH and they (WELSH WATER) treat you like this' it sounds as if am being horrible about my Mum but........
She is telling me everybody that she misses my DF 'putting his arms around me' & 'his warmth ' now if he ever did that then l was never in the audience Grin. My Dad just wasn't like that , he was not demonstrative ever! I do tell her that too and she agrees with me and says 'no but l do miss him' well of course she does but to make out he was something he wasn't, just isn't going to wash with me , l call it as it is. She likes to wear the widows weeds a little bit methinks but perhaps l am being horrible l don't know , l suppose l am all sympathised out after nearly 10 weeks of this non stop. Yes on reflection l am prob being a cow Hmm
All l know is l have tried my best to be kind and patient and loving and it is very wearing Hmm rant over Grin
normal nice service is resumed lol what with my moaning about my sister and her DH and my Mum no wonder l have seen off all the regulars Grin

Fedoratheexploreer · 29/05/2019 21:29

Fluffy I’m glad your physio is going positively.

Mrs I feel for you regarding your DMum. My DNan was like it when DGdad passed away. They were never very happy, always arguing and never affectionate but yet when he passed away she kept going on about how in love they were. It’s infuriating. I hope your DD’s interview has gone well.

It’s hammering it down over here but the dog and cat both want to go out. I’m umming and ahing over to take them for a walk over the fields, but we’d all get muddy. I think I might have to though🥶

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2019 06:13

I'm wondering if we have the count wrong. I know it's sleeps, but it does often go awry somewhere mid-count! I'll check at some point. Xmas Grin

We had so much lovely rain yesterday. The useful, steady, rain which really gets into the ground. I imagine everything at the allotments is very happy right now (as am I, as it saves me a job)!

It's meant to be dry but cloudy today, which is fine. 😁

Woolly, how's your Liverpool trip going? Sorry about the weather!

Mrs, I think it's quite common to change history post-death. It's a comfort thing, I think. Frustrating for you though!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 30/05/2019 08:16

MrsM I think it's pretty common to romanticise.

How's Liverpool, Woolly?

We've had proper decent rain as well this week. It's my day off so I'm going to nip to the allotment later and check it out, maybe dig up some more weeds to get planting. What I find interesting is that I've barely seen any slugs. Apparently pigeons are an issue, and despite there being a metal fence we get rabbits as they are 💩-ing on my freshly dug beds but they have left the plants alone so far...

Fedoratheexploreer · 30/05/2019 09:00

Fluffy I just worked it out and 210 sounds about right, but I did fail GCSE maths so don’t trust me wholeheartedly.

The rain was heavy yesterday here too. I love it it makes our house feel so cosy. It’s bright but cloudy now so I’ll take the boys over the park after breakfast and then they can play in the garden when we get back. I’ll give the animals a clean after that and then we’ll settle down and watch BGT most likely. Hope you all have wonderful days.

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2019 10:23

Morning everyone 😀
I didn't realise that romantising is that a word 😆 is a common theme after the death of someone. I am not at all like that about my Dad , l say it as it is . Perhaps I am too honest for her 🤪 . I just feel it's so false to be like that, as if you are saying it for other people.

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2019 10:30

I have to post in dribs and drabs because I lose my messages 🙄
Fedora aren't ppl funny l would never be like that. At least I hope l wouldn't be. 🤗
Thank you for your good wishes for my Dd2 job interview 😀
Fluffy have a lovely, your Friday, in work. l hope you are not too achy after the physio yesterday 😀 good about the rain saving you a job 🌧️

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2019 10:33

Firefly Girl have a lovely day off. I haven't seen many slugs here either but DH tells me there are millions at night on the lawn 😁🐌🐌🐌
There is no pic for slugs so snail will have to do 😃

CishAndFips · 30/05/2019 12:23

Thank you Mrsmad it was long overdue. Good luck to your DD2.
wooly i hope your having a lovely trip.
fluffy i bet the mincemeat smells amazing and extra points for booze is always a bonus. I was completely shocked by how much stuff we had, utterly pointless stuff we hadn't used and broken stuff we had just shoved in cupboards.
Hifedora my DD will be four this Christmas too. Only just though shes a november baby.

BiddyPop · 30/05/2019 12:55

I just checked the "Xmas Clock" website - as used by 70s when starting us off...that says only 208 sleeps!!

I'm getting nothing done on planning ahead this year, I am just about keeping up with real life. Last night I was trying to catch up on accounts for Cubs, I have a load of paperwork for that too (I think I have everything in a list now) and I need to get in touch with trainers for sailing as well. And trainers about a Leaders training event needing to be rescheduled....although I have filled in the form for the equivalent of DLA for DD which was both long and heart-rending, but necessary for our sanity (I can't get extended parental leave, which is unpaid leave, for her even though I still have 50 days to use, unless I am claiming the DCA, and effectively she does meet the criteria I think so we just decided to finally do it).

Cish I am highly jealous that you had time to do a proper clear out. Well done on filling a skip!! (I'm just wading past piles...and saying "I must get around to dealing with that"...) If I get the DCA and can take parental leave in the summer, or next summer, I might get around to it Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2019 13:03

It's 209 sleeps, I think. I'm doing the counting walking along the street, however, in my head, so will do it again in a bit.

Firefly, we don't really have slugs as it's a wide space with no real cover. I think they get eaten by things if they venture out too far! We also have a pigeon problem!

Biddy, fx re the DCA and parental leave.

CORRECTION TO COUNT

209

Which is:

May - 2
June - 30
July - 31
Aug - 31
Sept - 30
Oct - 31
Nov - 30
Dec - 24

Added together!

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 30/05/2019 19:57

I'm happy to meet in the middle!! Xmas Grin!!

FX is right, bloomin' bureaucrats....(oh wait, that's what I am...) at least I know what paperwork involves! I should have claimed years ago, just combination of having enough from work and plenty don't, and the hassle of the paperwork. DH has muttered though that if we get it, I should think about going 4 days/week, so we might think about that.

FireflyGirl · 30/05/2019 21:47

That'd probably take the pressure off a bit, Biddy. I love doing 4 days; until he starts school in September, I get DS to myself for the day and I really enjoy it #selfish.

We've been to visit my cousin and his wife today, whose DC3 was born Tuesday evening. They were home the same night Shock (They specifically invited us; I was planning to go in a few weeks)

Baby was 9lb14.5 ShockShockConfused!!

They were all totally chilled! The other two (6 and 4) were just happily playing, the baby woke up, had some milk and went straight back to sleep. Apparently he slept 5 hours last night! Shock

How do I order one of those?!? Wink

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2019 23:40

Night everyone Smile
Just a quick reply because l posted a huge message complete with pics on my phone and it won't blinking upload tsk tsk!
Anyway today we went to Barry Barbados Grin
Twas lovely did us the world of good but my sciatica is awful , lot of pain.
Firefly you enjoy this time you have with your DS it's wonderful for you, that baby sounds gorgeous and what a weight too , did you sneak a sniff of his head and smell that beautiful smell Smile
Biddy well done m'dear for applying for DLA for your Dd , bless you if anyone could do with a four day week it is you! Smile
Cish thank you for the good wishes for my DD2 , she is desperate for the job bless her Grin
Fluffy well done on the recount m'dear , this seems to happen every year mwahaha Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/05/2019 00:18

I'm home.

Liverpool was amazing - the atmosphere at the stadium was electric. DS had a marvellous time and he managed to fleece me for a hoodie. I even grabbed a few minutes shopping in Liverpool One before he got bored. Cish am I right that you live in Liverpool? (I'm probably wrong). If you do I am very jealous. I spent the first 21 years of my life in Liverpool and never really appreciated it. I need to go back and do some proper sightseeing.

We met up with SIL and her sons yesterday for a day out and that was utterly brilliant too. I was friends with her before I started dating her brother so it was nice to catch up.

Firefly that baby sounds very like my DS. 9lb 7oz and all he did was feed, sleep and smile. He's a mardy bugger now 😂

Fluffy sounds like your shoulder is recovering nicely.

MrsMad when will your DD2 hear about the job?

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2019 09:43

Morning!

DD was 9lb 7oz too. Sadly she was a grumpy baby until her lactose intolerance was diagnosed. Then she was much happier!

Sounds like Liverpool was great fun, Woolly. There's so much to do, isn't there? I think it's probably changed hugely since you were 21 too, as they've really tried hard to attract more tourists, I think.

I've made my mincemeat this morning, while the citrus fruit was still really fresh and juicy.

I need to get into the garden and pot some bits on, but I'm relaxing for now. It can wait!

Barry Barbados, Mrs? Sounds fun!

Mrs I’m like you, I wouldn’t romanticise anyone, but if it helps people cope then what harm can it do.

Cish Are you enjoying this age, it’s probably my favourite yet.

Firefly DS1 was 8lbs12oz and DS2 was 9lbs12oz. I think big babies are so scrummy, especially when they get to about 6 months and start getting all them rolls. I can’t say my boys were calm like your cousins baby though.

Wooly I’m glad you enjoyed Liverpool, I’ve never been I didn’t think much was there. I might look into a day trip out there now.

Fluffy that mincemeat looks delish. I hope you enjoy relaxing.

We’re going to my dads for Sunday lunch tomorrow so I’m packing the car for that, it’s a 2 hour drive so will make sure we have lots of activities for the boys. I’m going to visit my nan today with my mum, we’ll be having a subway together which we all love. DH is taking the boys swimming on his own whilst I’m out and then joining us later on, so good luck to him on that. I think that’s about it for my day, I hope you all have a gooden.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2019 18:03

I ended up at the allotment this afternoon. I got my extra peas, runner beans and dwarf beans in the ground and watered in. The tame-ish robins came along to eat any worms I disturbed (they come within a foot if I stay still!).

We moved loads of ladybirds to the broad bean plants which are plastered in black fly. A couple got eating straight away; it was brilliant!

All my bloody weeds are back, so Sunday is a weeding day! And I'll harvest my garlic too.

Are you staying overnight, Fedora? Is your dad far from you? Are you in the NW too?

I've just made curry and we're about to sit down to eat. We have apple and summer fruit crumble later so no carbs with this course!

Afternoon Smile
Woolly...... DD2 has got the job but she is leaving a permanent job in Waitrose for a contract only lasting 9 months . I am thinking it is not worth it tbh but it is her dream job and she loves Rugby so much . I have to support her because she says she won't get this chance again and l have to say she is probably right. It really is now or never l suppose . I am trying not to be a fuddy duddy about it and l am not interfering at all but atm she works 5 mins from the job and she is very happy there, they have a fabulous social life . She is swapping it for the unknown, a long expensive commute and very long hours for not much more pay and a huge wear and tear on her car. So l am not really over the moon about it but she is, so l have to go with the flow. I wouldn't dream of upsetting her and trying to influence her but l am disappointed if l am being truthful. I want you all to tell me l am being daft now please Grin. She did say to me that it would be very good experience and may lead on to other things but l am naturally a misery guts and am not looking forward to the inevitable moaning/irritability from her about 'being tired' Hmm. It is what it is l just have to shut up and be nice , which l am doing Grin

Mrsmadevans · 31/05/2019 18:13

Fluffy the mincemeat looks delicious , it must be smelling very Christmas like in your kitchen , yummy Smile
Your tea sounds lovely we are having a Chinese from a box l must confess , l have been to Mums for hours and my Sciatica is killing me so l am using that as an excuse to not cook from scratch Grin
I loved the sound of the ladybirds eating the black fly , well done now that really is eco gardening! Grin
Fedora , l know you are right it doesn't matter my Mum romanticising her marriage to Dad but you wouldn't believe how they were together and it is ridiculous tbh Grin l will go with the flow though, you are right Grin
Have to go to take DD1 to spend the night with my Mum honestly l don't envy her but she is so patient with her , much better than l am , l think she lets it go over her head .
Have a lovely evening everyone Smile

Fedoratheexploreer · 31/05/2019 18:21

Fluffy No not staying just going down early in the morning and then coming back later on in the day. We’re in the east mids dad is in west mids, he moved down to be with my DNan a few years ago after she fell ill so we travel down once a month or so to see him, or him to us. Your allotment seems to be coming on great, is this the best time of year for things to grow or doesn’t it matter?. Hope you enjoy your curry.

Mrs oh good! Well done to your DD. I understand why you’re worried, but she’s right it could be a great opportunity for her to get into her dream career. And worst case scenario, it all goes tits up she can come back home and hopefully get her job back. She’s young so it’s the right time to be going and having all these experiences.

Fedoratheexploreer · 31/05/2019 18:27

Mrs I understand completely, it can be infuriating when you know someone’s fibbing.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2019 20:18

Are you having Sunday lunch on Saturday, Fedora?!

Everything has a good time to grow; there's quite a bit now, but also other things in autumn / winter etc.

I'm from the East Mids originally, so probably not too far from you as it's not huge!

Mrs, yay to your DD. I think as it's her dream job she has to do it. They may find something else / extend that job or it may open doors at a club instead. I think she's right to do it while she's young enough to be able to.

Mrs, we don't use weed killer or pesticides, so any help from nature is needed!
