HELP! Need inspiration for emergency last minute presents for DP. So far I've got him:-

-socks

  • pants
  • a credit card tool thing
  • a new rucksack for work (commuter)
  • a card wallet

It feels a bit nothing-y and naff! What have you got your DP/DH?

Me and the DDs got together and bought him an engraved silver Yard-O-Led pencil and pen. We know he will love it but it is going to have to be his Christmas and birthday present for about the next three years! Grin

Sexnotgender · 22/12/2018 14:18

Oh I did buy him sheepskin lined crocs but gave him them a couple weeks ago as he was really ill and I felt sorry for him.

Longdistance · 22/12/2018 14:24

Dh really didn’t want anything, though he would like a new wallet, so I got him that, socks, a mr man t-shirt (he had on before and loved it, so have bought him another), gin. He’s easily pleased.

JoPublic · 22/12/2018 14:31

Electric shaver (he asked for this as his main present)
A book I came across and thought he'd like

We've agreed to limit spending on gifts for each other as we both used to go overboard in early years together but we just can't afford it and trying hard to improve our financial situation.

bluechameleon · 22/12/2018 14:43

Things he asked for: A phone holder, a hat and gloves, an Alan Partridge book. Things I chose: a couple of novels, a Philomena Cunk book, Richard Osman's World Cup of Everything book. The DC chose a box of chocolates each.
Then last night I panicked I hadn't bought enough and bought a voucher to a Michelin starred restaurant.

popcorndiva · 22/12/2018 14:50

His main presents are a pair of Wellingtons and a pair of Tim Minchin tickets. In his stocking he has playstation coasters for his den, book of dad jokes, grumpy cat stickers and a chocolate Santa

Adorelabradors · 22/12/2018 14:50

NOTHING

GrapesAndCheese · 22/12/2018 14:51

23&me DNA testing kit thing with the medical bit too
PS4 game Blush

That's it! Together they were £100+ so couldn't really afford more.

Bluearsedfly36 · 22/12/2018 15:01

Electric shaver and a new boiler suit, that's what he wanted 😊

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 22/12/2018 15:04

He’s getting:

FitBit
New IPhone
Jumper and Top from Next
Running socks
Running shoes
Funny mug

ladybee28 · 22/12/2018 15:48

A GoPro and headtrap
A Huawei Band 2 Pro fitness tracker for running
Wireless headphones (also for running)
A couple of technical t-shirts for sports
A retro music t-shirt
A print of a painting he loved when we went to the Guggenheim this year (he can't remember the name of the artist. I can.)
A new electric shaver
A voucher for a month of yoga classes

I've also got each of us (DP, DSS and me) a MyHeritage DNA kit.

ladybee28 · 22/12/2018 15:48

HeadSTRAP, not headtrap! Grin

IdblowJonSnow · 22/12/2018 15:50

Books, jumper, aftershave, chocs etc. Nothing out the ordinary! Happy with purchases and I know he will be.

Monny1 · 22/12/2018 15:54

Nothing. Hadn’t bought presents for each other, the last 2 years. We can’t really afford it. At long as the children, get their presents, that all that counts.

stridesy · 22/12/2018 17:09

A top
Harry Potter Lego
Second hand simpsons Cluedo

I've also done a stocking with pants, indoor fireworks, scratch card, smellies, and a Greggs voucher.

I’ve spent £12 on something for his hobby that he’d mentioned wanting. It’s part of an expensive set he says he can’t justify buying for one little thing since he won’t use the rest, so I found it on its own on eBay. He knows he’s only got one gift from me and told me not to buy anymore, even though he told me he’s cheated on our rule and got me 3 little things.

We have joint finances and similar hobbies so we don’t see the point in buying big gifts for each other at Christmas now. We do for birthdays, but even then it’s only if we actually want something bigger. We got something between us in early December and it didn’t seem worth getting other presents we didn’t want just for the sake of it.

LegoLady95 · 22/12/2018 17:30

A stovetop fan for the log burner and a new sherpa fleece for on the sofa. This means his old fleece will be relegated to me!

He has probably got more for me, but we have big families and I do most of the Xmas shopping, so he knows I don't have much thinking space left to choose gifts for him. He would be happy to receive nothing at all.

YahBasic · 22/12/2018 18:11

Ancestry DNA kit, new work shoes, electric toothbrush, some books, Timberland chinos, rugby top, baking books, socks with our cats’ faces on them, a burger press, hockey gloves.

Stocking wise, he’s got two mini bottle of Amarula, some biltong and pork scratchings, Godiva chocolate, a wallet ninja, a stress ball/toy and a gift card to put towards a new work suit in the sales.

Gone a bit all out this year, but we’re thinking of TTC next year so need to start saving in 2019.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 22/12/2018 18:15

A bungee jump
Walking socks
Travel cup from the DC

Flambola · 22/12/2018 19:55

A woodcarving course.

I8toys · 22/12/2018 19:58

Under Armour running shit - jacket, leggings, boxers, bag etc, some plastic moulding stuff - he's a DT teacher, a massage candle - for me!

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 22/12/2018 19:58

Whiskey rocks
Cocktail making multi-tool
Cashmere socks, two pairs

Will also get him a pair of warm slippers in the jan sales.

We weren’t going to do presents this year but I got myself a few things in the Black Friday sales so I thought there’d best be a few things under the tree for him, too.
